  No one that we encountered as we walked through the store was at all friendly.  The guy who gave us the forms to fill out was downright rude.  When I asked about looking at fish finders while we were there, he just kind of pointed at them and walked away.  Too bad for you Stevens, 'cause we are now wanting to buy a new outboard motor and we will never set foot in your store again.

  CAROL'S CUSTOM CANVAS INC

  Gordon was great to work with. Arranged to drop off the boat at the shop and he met me as I pulled up to the location. We sat down and he explained process and what materials would be used. The shop was recommended by a friend. Very happy with the end product and the entire process. When I picked up the boat on completion, they answered all of my questions about care and maintenance, as well as storage. The boat was ready and waiting in the front to hook up and pull home.

  My motor was leaking fuel when I would tilt it up to trailer it. They replaced the airbox gasket in front of the carburetor and I was told that "they all leak a little bit of fuel." I hadn't noticed it leaking previously. They said the unburnt fuel that is left in there will leak out when it is tilted up at that high of an angle to be trailered. I took it to another place and it is currently being looked at to diagnose the problem.

  They are an authorized Yamaha repair dealer among other brands. My motor was leaking fuel, they replaced my fuel pump, drained my old fuel (I asked them to), changed fuel filter, spark plugs, oil. I was happy with those services performed, but they accidentally had broken my battery changer. They didn't charge me the hours to replace a new one, but I had to pay for a new switch.

  Took my boat in because it seemed like it was bogging down at times, took a while to warm up. They replaced the fuel water separator, fuel filter, spark plugs. Made no difference to how it ran. Had a brake light out, they replaced that and the winch on my trailer as well.

  Ridgefield Kayak LLC

  I had recently taken Kayak lessons and was excited to get out on the water again. Ridgefield Kayak?s website was clear and informative, they appeared to provide appropriate equipment, and the prices were reasonable. I did enquire as to whether they provided dry suits but was told that as of October 1 they would no longer provide them which I did find odd given the ambient temperature. We opted to reserve two, single person kayaks and with directions from the staff were easily able to find their office in the marina. Their ?office? was clean and neat, maps on counter where the staff could clearly give us directions which they did so quite clearly and thoroughly after asking about our kayaking experience. After previously having had to get into a kayak for the first time off of the dock I was happy to be able to get into Ridgefield Kayak?s boat by holding on to a bar that crossed between their two covered docks! It definitely made it much easier to get into the boat (though wasn?t able to help me back out, later). On the other hand Gene (I believe was her name) gave excellent instructions about how to get out of the boat. The only drawbacks that I found to Ridgefield Kayak was the lack of instruction on the equipment that the boat came with (bilge pump and other devices I thankfully didn?t need), items that were listed on the website as being provided, but were not, the lack of dry suit availability, and I felt that the boat was a bit sluggish (though my experience with kayaks is extremely limited).

  PORTLAND STERNDRIVE

  Norm evaluated the lower unit of the sterndrive I brought in, off of the boat. The previous owner of the boat had hit something and broken the skeg. The weld repair of the skeg and bad condition of the prop shaft would have been an expensive repair. He offered a less expensive repair in a used, but serviceable unit. After rebuilding only what was needed, he assembled my intact upper to the newly obtained lower. He patiently explained each part of the service and rebuild, I'm sure I slowed him considerably, but I found the whole exercise quite an education. He showed me the strong and weak points of my particular sterndrive. (Mercruiser 120 MR) He also had some operating recommendations that would save me from future repair and problems. I returned with the boat a week later and Norm inspected and installed the outdrive assembly. He pointed out a couple of things that would need attention in the future, but said they had some service life left. He fixed only what needed fixing and explained how to replace them when the time came.

  Our ski boat was not getting enough power. We had taken it to another place twice and they could not diagnose the problem. Stevens Marine found it the first time and it didn't cost as much as the other place! In addition, they replaced two snaps on our boat cover at no charge!
