"Exceeded our expectations! The job went very well! We have an old tub that showed the decades of use and was need of refinishing. The repair Tech from " , , did an excellent job! Our tub required several patches where old material had chipped out and there were a few areas of rust stain around the drain. The new surface is perfectly smooth and in every area including where the repairs were needed. He was very careful to keep the dust contained and explained clearly what we should do, or not do, during the process to keep the bathroom clean and dust free. He was very careful not to track any dust or debris through the house. We appreciated that he had us select where to put slip resistant materials to match our use of the shower. In other words where the users actually stood in the shower! It was a two day process and he on time both days and kept the work area to house transition area clean. Excellent workmanship and service! I would recommend them 100%.

He explained his process throughout the procedure and took very" effective measures that the smell did not fill the house. offered a bath at finish on the bottom of the tub at no extra charge. It blends in so well that you cannot see it, but offers a nice nonslip surface. 's up was great and he offered tips on how to maintain the finish.

bathtub refinishing

Bathtub Liners and Refinishing

Over time, the bathtub can begin to show signs of wear with stains, scratches, a dull finish or other ugly marks. Bathtub refinishing is an option that can return a bathtub or shower enclosure to like-new appearance.

OK - terminology issue here. The "shower pan" is a collection liner than underlies the shower floor itself, and is designed (if built and plumbed right) to trap any leakage from the shower floor and route it to the same floor drain pipe. Example image here, copper in this case -

It sounds like your are saying the shower floor or base unit failed - likely a fiberglass or plastic shower, which commonly fail due to incomplete support under them. This can be repaired if fiberglass, but is not usually done unless just microcracking, as it is hard to find an expert - usually you have to have a car body fiberglass specialist or a surfboard repair expert do it, and the color will not match perfectly unless you get a new gelcoat over the entire base unit. Cost about $300-500, ASSUMING the material can be repaired - true fiberglass can, thermoplastic can sometimes be welded but anyone's guess how long it will last without cracking again, plastics like PVC can rarely be fixed so they will hold someone standing on them. Any sort of repair is likely to crack again, because you have done nothing to remove the cause of the cracking which is standing on a base that is not fully supported over its full extent. Some cheepo or desperate plumbers try injecting non-pressuring type expanding foam underneath to improve the support - this does a great job of supporting it but unfortunately supports mold, so starts stinking in short order as a rule.

The normal fix is to remove and replace it, because once it is out there is no sense in putting a damaged one back in for the small increment in cost. Removing it means taking the shower wall liners or the bottom row or two of tile out so you can get the new base unit into place (because they overlap it), then replacing them. So, the $3000 range indicated is indicative of this type of job, which typically runs from a very low of around $1500-2000 for an identical base unit, to more typically $3-5,000 depending on whether a shower enclosure or tile walls. Of course, when the new one is put in, it is CRITICAL that it be fully supported - this means rubbing plumbers rouge or similar marking substance on the bottom, test fitting it, and then lifting it out and checking that all the stiffener ribs and support pads made contact with the pan, and making adjusments as necessary until it has full contact, then standing in it and rocking back and forth to check for any points not making full contat and fixing them.

The $10,000 plus numbers you got must have been for entire shower replacement down to the joists and studs, and the $30,000 range number would be typical for a full bathroom remodel with new shower or shower/tub and doors and surround, wall finishes, vanity, sink, toilet, and flooring and door.

They use epoxy, which is more durable than the other products, and therefore comes with a 10-year transferable warranty. The downsides are that it takes longer to cure (a couple of days), it stinks horribly during that time, and it costs a little more. The upside--having to do it once in 10 years instead of 5--more than justifies these problems. All ...More work was done professionally. The tub now looks like new. We'd do it again.

refinished our 70 year old tub a year ago and it turned out great! We just noticed a small ding on the tub's exterior right above the floor and called . He said it was best to get right on these small problems before they get worse and he came right out to touch it up. Quick, no mess, and no cost. ...More I would highly recommend his service

completed the work less than two weeks ago. We had some gliches at no fault of the contractor, death in his family then he got the flu but he finished the job very nicely. Cleaned up and I would highly recommend the gentleman. Answered every question we had and he worked with the customer. Very nice young man.

This was the second time we used the provider. Both experiences were great. They did what they said they would do, their price was reasonable, and the tub ended up looking beautiful.

I purchased this Angie Deal to reglaze tub in house I bought recently. Scheduling work was delayed (my fault) , but we finally found a time to complete. He showed up on-time - early even. The prep work was done thoroughly and with as little disruption to the rest of the house as possible. The care required was explained well and paperwork was left detailing ...More care and warranty. The tub looked so good that the old hardware then looked shabby and called out to be replaced.

Really great work. Nice guys, including communicating over weekend and determining a time up front and job price from the description I offered. Work done as bid and the tub looks like new.

We hired Ave Tub to refinish our cast iron bathtub as part of our bathroom remodel. The scheduling process went fine, and we were able to get someone in pretty quickly, but the experience we had was AWFUL. The person doing the work was extremely careless. How?
1) They damaged the paint on our walls in several (at least ...More 10) places
2) They left our bathtub with drips EVERYWHERE. The entire front of the tub has lines of drips all the way across, and the inside has more.
3) They broke a window. The smell of their product is overwhelmingly awful, actually made me sick. When the person performing the service was here, he asked to open a window in our son's playroom for ventilation. Made sense because of the pungent smell. When we got back to the house later, the window he used was completely broken. What's better is that the serviceman said that he didn't do it. Like the window was like that... Umm, NO! Because yeah, we're the type of people that would allow for broken glass in our son's playroom. Makes sense.
My husband called their office and they offered to repair the window and fix their poor job on the tub, however, they were not flexible about the scheduling.

Our job was a little tricky because we had an old tiled area and an inlaid soap holder above the tub that our contractor recommended with instead of re-tiling. But there are so many surfaces and crevices to the tile, it makes it harder to apply this product well. Our contractor cleaned and re-grouted the ...More tiling before came. was very professional and did a fine job applying the product. The smell was very unpleasant and did not dissipate as quickly as said it would. It took a few days to clear. We did have to call him to come back shortly afterwards to touch up a few small missed areas. He did this at no charge and he also came a 2nd time when we called because there were a couple more problem areas developing. Those areas turned out to be more of a problem with the caulking but he touched them up anyway.
All in all, we are happy with the product now as it is 6 months later and holding well. B for quality only because while it looks nice now, it seems fragile. We have to be careful not to leave the tub wet or use stainless steel or suction-cupped items in the tub area. The bottom of the tub is very smooth and slippery. It has been relatively easy to clean despite not being able to used abrasive cleaning agents on it. was very responsive. He answers his phone! We would recommend him.
