Meineke Car Care Center - Lombard
I have been going to this location since 1995.. They have serviced every car I have own since I moved back from California. When they recently change management, the service changed a bit, but I still am going to them. I hope that with time and them new folks getting to know me the treatment and eagerness to assist will get even better.

    MAC'S RADIATOR & Automotive Service

Yesterday, I called Mac's in Beaverton late in the afternoon to get a price on a replacement radiator for my daughter's car and spoke with Brendan. We were about to start working on the car and, since Brendan said the store closed at 5pm, we didn't think we would have the old one out in time. He said he would set a radiator and cap aside for us and we could pick it up at 8am today. I wasn't going to be available to work on the car today, so my daughter and I decided we would have to get the radiator at one of the auto parts stores and, if they didn't have one in stock, have the one at Mac's as a backup.

Amazingly, my daughter and I got the radiator out quickly, so I called Mac's at 4:58pm. Brendan answered, I explained the situation and asked if we could run over and get the radiator - we were a couple of miles away - and he said he would wait for us. It took a few minutes to secure the tools and parts, then we fought rush-hour traffic to get to the shop. Brendan was there with the radiator and cap ready to go, we checked open the boxes to make sure we had what we needed, paid for it and were out the door in less than 10 minutes.

Throughout the whole episode, Brendan was cheerful, professional and friendly. Now, I am certainly not advocating calling Mac's at 4:59:59 to place an order, but I am extremely grateful to Brendan that he went the extra mile/half-hour for us. As I noted, we were prepared to get the radiator elsewhere, so I'm glad we were able to do business with Mac's and Brendan.

We would highly recommend Mac's Radiator.

We did get the new radiator (plus new hoses from one of the above-mentioned parts stores) installed and the car is up and running.

MotorCar Doctors Auto Repair of Beaverton
Everything went great as usual. I was experiencing loud noises and overheating with my BMW with 270,000+ miles. Kevin had my car diagnosed and repaired at a reasonable price all in the same day. My issues are now resolved. Clutch and Brake Doctors is my go to auto shop for my 2 high mileage vehicles. They do not talk me into any unneeded repairs and still keep my vehicles running like they should for a reasonable price. It is hard to find a good auto shop. Please try them out!

I hit something on interstate 84 in center lane destroying my rediator and ac, though I didn't know it at time of impact. 10 miles later my oil light came on and engine should more than hot. I stopped car, found all fluids gone due to damage from impact of what I hit in road. I found Able Radiator on Angie's List. Tom at AR checked engine for damage first and foremost, as is an older car and GEICO may total it. Engine checked out fine said Tom. This was on a Friday. He ordered parts by Monday, was very ill and couldn't work on the car until Wednesday. He finished the car by Thursday and called me. He stayed within GEICO quote and did a good job. No complaints except I wish him good health, car would have been done a day sooner. Thanks Tom.

This place is out of the way in Oak Grove, but I'm glad I found it. His original estimate was for a new radiator. His estimate was about half of other estimates. Then he recommended the reconditioned version because it was $75 cheaper and had a similar warranty. Make sure you call to see if he can fit you in on a certain day because he is a one-person shop. He got the work done on schedule and then he said that the estimate was off. It was $50 LESS than his estimate. I'm not sure what he did - I think he recovered my antifreeze. Then he explained what he did, provided a warranty, and gave me a flyer about what to check in the next month (e.g., adding antifreeze if there is air in the system). I highly recommend him. He takes pride in his work.

    K & M Auto Service
I contacted K and M to have them work on my Ford Box van. It needed a new radiator and many other misc fixes taken care of. From the very first contact with this company it was easy and smooth. My vehicle was inspected and I was given a quote. I gave them the go ahead and they got started. They even gave me text updates on the progress. There were no extra charges or shady practices. I was and am impressed. While I am not anxious for any of my vehicles to break down I would not hesitate to take any of our autos to K and M for service in the future.

In all cases, these guys were top notch! I originally went to them for a muffler issue, and I thought hmmmm.... Midas Muffler, of course. But their service was so good I started bringing my cars and truck there for everything including regular oil changes. They have been able to tackle almost everything and when it was something they don't do, like rebuild transmissions, they had good solid advice on where to take it.
My experience has been that they do only the work that needs to be done, and no more. There have been several times when I've asked them to replace a part or do a particular service and they have told me no, that isn't needed. Or no, that would be a waste of your money.
On several ocassions they found quick and simple (and inexpensive!) answers to what I expected to be big time costly. They've always been prompt about having my vehicles ready when they say they would. I've also gotten phone calls when they have a question about the car, or when they want input on what I would like done about a particular issue.
They've also found things that were worn out or due for service that I didn't know about and told me how long I can safely ignore it and what my options are.
They're just plain good honest people with good common sense, as well as great technical expertise. I used to comparison shop for price. I no longer bother. They beat or match most other shops, but even if they were more, it's priceless to get the job done right and dealing with people with personal integrity.
