    EMS Estates
I contacted Elizabeth at EMS Estates for an appraisal for a divorce. It was a raw time, and Elizabeth was kind and empathetic while maintaining a professional approach to the appraisal. She explained the different kinds of appraisal, from liquidation value to replacement value, and worked with me to properly appraise the items for a divorce settlement. Elizabeth and her team were able to complete the appraisal quickly, and then explained the appraisal report in clear terms. EMS Estates is a great company and highly recommended.

Kevin Bowers Estates Sales & Appraisals
When I first contacted Kevin he said that he would come out and give us a complimentary consultation in the hopes of doing the estate sale with us. He came out to the estate and gave us a general, loose estimate for the value of the items he appraised. During the appraisal we noticed that he paid close attention to a few of the rare, expensive items. He said that he usually charges for these consultations, but his flyer claimed otherwise. After the appraisal he said that he would really like to work with us on the estate sale. A week and a half later he called to follow up with us. We agreed to work with him and arranged a date for him to come back out and decide which items should be in the estate sale. When he came back out, he walked in with his team of three other packers and he immediately noticed that the rare, expensive items were no longer in the "for sale" pile. He quickly commented, while looking at the remaining items, and said that all the money was gone, since we had taken out the rare, expensive items. There was one item in particular that he told me, after we told him that we were having reservations about selling it, that he was going to double the price because he already had a buyer for it. He was very upset that the valuable items were no longer going to be in the estate sale. During this, I had come across an appraisal from 2002 for the rare, expensive items and noticed that Kevin dramatically under valued them. Since I didn't include the rare, expensive items he told us that instead of taking 15% of the sales for his pay, he was going to take 35%. Before he left he gave me a hand written list of the items being sold, with no value, the date of the auction, and the name of who to make the check out to for the 35%. He then left with the items we had agreed to sale and took them, in conjunction with other items from another estate, to have a full estate sale. I sent him a text a few days later asking him for the value of the items that he took. He sent me a text back, the same day, letting me know that after he priced the items he would get back to me and let me know each of the items value. He got back to me a couple days later and said that if I gave him one particular piece, from the original group of items, that he could now triple the value. I replied back and told him that that particular piece was not for sale and I haven't heard from him since. To this day, he will not return any of my text messages and he still has all of our valuable items that were going to be in the estate sale.

I inherited a great number of antique items from my mother. Terra helped me go through them and put my mind to ease about the worth of some of these items. I wanted to make sure that I didn't get rid of something that may have great value. Terra was knowledgable, and things that she didn't know about on the spot she went back and researched and gave me some guidance. I did not ask for a full value estimate - I was simply sorting through all the items in order to find anything of high value/worth.

They are very reputable.  They put out an excellent online catalog and a beautiful tangible catalog.  They are incredibly friendly.  The auctioneers are very nice people - everyone that works there for that matter.  They have great deals there - we've even purchased a car there before.  Great location.  Very organized.  They have day sales as well as very nice auctions.  The quality of items being sold is excellent.  It is also a great deal of fun!

Goldworks appraised a small amount of jewelry and gold for me. It was not very valuable. They took their time and the woman who helped me even spent time consulting with the jeweler about some pieces. Even when other customers came in the woman who helped me stayed with the appraisal and let other employees handle the new customer. I had some idea of what the gold value of the jewelry was worth and Goldworks, offered, and I accepted their offer, which I thought was fair.
I thought Goldworks did a professional and courteous appraisal and transaction.

.It was really easy.  I got the name from a rug store, and called, went in and they answered my questions, and they will sell the rug in the auction. They came right out and got the things out of my car.    I was treated the way I should be.  They did not act like I had no idea what I was doing.  It was a quick experience.

Her name is Terra Goodman and she was wonderful and she has actually become a friend of ours now. She changed her e-mail address because she said she was getting about 5000 e-mails a day from people trying to sell her stuff. We spent about $400 on that service. She was very knowledgeable, has a very unassuming presence and she was just a very nice person. She never came across as really strong, but was real professional and a very warm person. She was very appreciative and respectful of our home. My husband, our kids and their spouses and I were all here, so everybody could just see what she had to say. She brought an assistant with her and we felt that it was reasonable in terms of the amount of time she spent and what we paid. If there were things that she did not know about, she would research and get back to us. We had some kind of Indian basket and she said that she did not know about that, but referred a man that we could go to. It turned out that we actually went to him about something before, so she sent us to a knowledgeable person. We used her first about 4 years ago and was so impressed with her that we decided to use her again.

Michael is very friendly and helpful. Other coin dealers I've gone to are grumpy and impatient side. He seems to like working with people whether buying coins for investment or as gifts. ''ve checked prices against other stores both times I've been to him and he sells at the same price or lower.

I originally contacted PGL and 3 other appraisal companies via email to ask for an approximate estimate for jewelry appraisal, providing a list of the items. Within hours PGL had responded, explaining the process for appraisal and the cost per item, and recommending a pre-appraisal sorting appointment. I said I would contact them at a later date to set up an appointment, and they again acknowledged my email with a "looking forward" response. I contacted them the following week, and they were able to schedule an appointment for me for 3 days hence. At the appointed time, Ms. Miller efficiently sorted through about 25 jewelry items, quickly identifying genuine vs. costume items. We discussed my motivation for the appraisal (insurance purposes), and she performed a rough appraisal-at-a-glance to categorize the genuine items into three value categories of and lt;$200, $200-500, and $500+ . Based on that, I contracted to have 5 items appraised, at a rate of $90 for the first item and $70 for each additional item - for a total of $370. She said they would be ready by 2 pm the next day, and if they were ready earlier PGL would call to let me know. At about 1:15 the next day PGL called to let me know the items were ready for pick up. Ms. Miller had determined upon additional examination that one of the five items was not actually worth as much as initially thought. Since it was not actually in the value category of items I selected for appraisal, she opted to not execute the appraisal, and my bill was adjusted down accordingly to $300. Note that if I had only had the sorting done and not the appraisal, I would've been charged for sorting at Ms. Miller's hourly consultant rate. Since I also had the appraisal done, there was no charge for the sorting. The items were cleaned as part of the appraisal process. The reports I received were very detailed, providing color photos of each item, measurements, and gem stone quality assessments along with the retail replacement value. Ms. Miller and her associates provided friendly and professional services.

    A Season In Time
She kept 30% of the profit as payment, which was more than fair. I had anticipated paying someone for hauling, but she was able to sell most of the items and pay me in the process! When Nancy was done, the house was completely empty, as she had promised.
