  • Apart from the fact they they have a wait list for jobs - because they are in demand - the whole experience was really good. Solved a few problems as they came up, arrived to fit the liner spot on time and arranged for the water delivery to set the liner. Just topping off the pool and will be in there swimming tomorrow.

  • not use this company. I had to fight with the owner Ed to have the crew show up to work. I had at the time three toddlers, my back yard was destroyed and dangerous. They would say they would come and would not show. They finally had finished the pool with me contacting him and fighting with him but they never came back to put my yard back together, re-install my privacy fence etc. The workers left their cigarette buts and trash everywhere. My husband ended up finishing the work they were supposed to do. Terrible company

  • I called R&R to schedule my pool opening SPECIFICALLY because I knew the filter needed repair and I wanted to start out the season with everything working correctly. I actually discussed this with Ralph Jr. in the fall when I had them close the pool. I asked them to let me know when they were coming so I could leave the stuff outside for them. On Friday May 27 I received a voicemail from Ralph Sr saying he was at my house but none of the stuff was out so they couldn't complete the pool opening. They took the cover off and left it folded on the patio. They left the automatic cover only slightly closed. It was only extended about 3 feet. I was never told they were coming. I called the office and was told they could come back out on Monday. When I asked them why they didn't tell me they were coming I was told people call for a pool opening and then just leave everything out for them. I had originally called on May 16. I didn't want to leave a large tote with no lid, full of my pool equipment out in the rain for an unspecified amount of time. They just shrugged and said that's what people do. So I left the stuff out so they could get the job done. Ralph Sr. and another guy showed up to finish the job. A while after arriving I was called by Ralph Sr. to flip on the breaker. When I tried to ask a question he cut me off and said, "Just turn on the breaker" and hung up. I was struck at how rude that was. I flipped the breaker on and went out to reiterate that a fitting needed to be fixed. Ralph Sr. then proceeded to argue with me that the fitting wasn't what was causing the problem. I said, "ok what was causing the problem?" He said the screws and that he tightened them. I had to argue and insist that he show me which screws in case I needed to deal with the same problem in the future. I also mentioned again that the fitting was also leaking so still needed to be replaced. I also reiterated at that time that I wanted them to make certain the filter system was working correctly and that was the main reason I wanted them to open the pool. He said, Ok. I then asked Ralph Sr. why the automatic cover wasn't working. He said because I broke it. I'm sorry but they were the first ones to attempt to use it and managed to get it to move 3 feet before it stopped. I did attempt to close the cover but when it only moved an inch I stopped. He proceeded to blame me and berate me for doing anything with the cover and that it was MY fault that the ropes are all tangled up. There are several feet of rope tangled on the motor. I fail to see how it moving one inch for me could cause several FEET of rope to get tangled. As he was telling me about the tangled rope he started using demeaning terms like "honey" and "sweetie." That kind of language tells me that he doesn't respect my intelligence and doesn't respect me as a person. I found being talked down to like that highly offensive. I was also very angry for being yelled at for trying to close the cover when they NEVER told me it was broken in the first place. How was I supposed to know to leave it alone? After discovering that the filter motor was dead they said they would have to order a new one and come back. They came back with the new filter motor and got it installed and running. They replaced the fitting that was leaking. In this process the chlorinator was never reattached to the new fitting. He mumbled something about not having a drill and said they would be back to deal with the cover and left. I was then sent a bill for $1056.78. This implied to me that he had no intention of coming back to put the chlorinator on. I remind you, the MAIN purpose I wanted them to come out was to make certain the filter system was running correctly. I waited a week to see if he was going to fix it then I called. I was told I would get a call back. 24 hours later nobody had called me so I called again. This time I said I would NOT pay the bill until the filter was working correctly. I received a very angry phone call from Ralph Sr. where he mentioned fixing the chlorinator wasn't on the bill. I said it shouldn't be since it was part of replacing that fitting. He said he would come on Monday and attach the chlorinator and he would be taking his payment check at that time. On Monday Ralph Sr. arrived, attached the chlorinator and then handed me a bill with an ADDITIONAL $150 for attaching the chlorinator THAT HE REMOVED IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! My husband and I were livid but we just wanted Ralph Sr to go away and never come back so we paid the bill. Now, about the "pool opening." All they did was remove the winter cover, removed the gizmos, removed the outflow plugs, add 4 bags of shock, and 1 bottle of algaecide. They didn't balance chemicals, clean the water line and skimmers, vacuum the bottom, brush the sides or ANYTHING else associated with pool opening. They charged $350 to do those five things! Absolutely ridiculous! I couldn't be more disappointed in a job if I tried. I hired this company because Ralph Jr. did a project for me last year that turned out beautifully. I even contracted the company to replace a retaining wall in my front yard because I was so pleased with the care and attention they put into the one near the pool. I would wager that my biggest problem with this job was the condescension and blatant rudeness from Ralph Sr. and the enormous lack of help with the opening of the pool. I will never hire them again for this and I will absolutely NEVER recommend them.

  • We worked with Tom at Alpine who was so accessible, knowledgeable and reliable. He scheduled everything and managed to have our liner installed quickly. The installers were very professional and answered all of my questions. I have already referred several friends to him for pool instillation. He actually worked with us on our pool 13 years ago. A consummate professional with great experience! The liner looks great!

  • I am writing this review because of the wonderful service I received from J.D. and Clayton as well as the company's gesture to make an issue right by me. Let me first start by saying that I experienced a billing issue. The matter was swiftly resolved and the company opened my pool for free. This discount for the inconvenience I experienced went above and beyond what I expected. As far as dealing with the company, JD and Clayton are great. JD has passion and is knowledgable. You can tell he loves his job and is a special employee. He represents his company well and is the main reason I am writing this review.

  • We moved into a house with an outdoor jacuzzi. Having never had one, we wanted advice on how to maintain it, and we also wanted it inspected, make sure it's in good condition. I could not have asked for a better interaction than Brian provided. He did not try to upsell me anything. He didn't find any problems. He was reassuring - things were in good shape, and there was no need for repairs or special maintenance. I really knew nothing, so he really could have sold me anything, but instead he actually told me a few things I thought I needed, which I did not. 
    For example, my electrician pointed out that when the jacuzzi was installed (Pool City in Monroeville), they used a 40 amp cable for a 50 amp circuit. I asked Brian if that was safe. He pointed out the previous owners used it that way for eight years, so can't be too bad. We may still get the work done, but Brian's advice made sense. I asked about the cover - do I need a new one? Again, no: you'll know you need a new one when it's getting waterlogged. Jets, etc? All fine. 
    Brian brought some chemicals, and taught me how and when to use them, and how much. Again, I felt completely reassured. Brian is a straight-shooter, and he'll be our go-to guy going forward. I know he's going to help us enjoy our jacuzzi without paying for things that don't matter. Highly recommended without any reservations whatsoever.

  • Finding a pool company that you want to work with is a difficult proposition to begin with.  We interviewed 5 companies.  We researched pools and thought we wanted a fiberglass pool.  We had pool companies come out and give us pricing etc.  The original pricing was so drastically different for the exact same pool and the more we researched the more we found that there were very few local companies that had experience doing fiberglass pools.  Of the bunch we had provide proposals Pleasure stood out.
    Dave came out, provided the base data on the pool options and spent quite a bit of time talking with us about the fiberglass pools.  He also asked what we didn't like about the vinyl liner which turned out to be an important question.  We didn't like the vinyl "tile" boarder or the big thick white coping strip that is often very prominent in vinyl pools.  The truth was we had an above ground pool and we wanted an in-ground pool that didn't cost 6 figures.  Putting 6 figures in a hole in your backyard was not the direction we wanted to go but we also wanted to keep our kids and their friends close. 
    Ultimately we went with Pleasure because they were reasonable to deal with, they had a bunch of experience and we felt we could effectively work with them through a pretty major project.  We were very pleased we did.  Kenny is a rock star, all of the recommendations they provided were spot on and they worked with us to find a vinyl liner without seams that went over the steps with texture so the steps were not super slippery. 
    The folks at Pleasure, a family owned and operated shop, went above and beyond.  My husband and I would hire them again in a heart beat.  In fact, my husband is determined to get one of our friends to put in a pool with Pleasure within a year.  Great experience, great people to work with and we are very pleased with our new pool.

  • The team was very professional and took great care to do high quality work.  I was particularly impressed with the attention to detail they showed installing the Versa Lock wall.  They took their time to do it right.  I plan to have them replace the retaining wall in our front yard next year.
    The colored, stamped concrete is beautiful.  They covered the edge of the pool with masking tape to keep the concrete from sticking to it.  After the concrete set, R&R sent a couple of guys to come remove the tape and sand any concrete residue off the 
    edge of the pool.  Ralph was not happy with the job the guys did and he sent them back to do more, completely unprompted by me.  
    They took great care installing the Cover Star Pool cover.  They were prompt at helping us work out the glitches we experienced at first with the cover.  It has been working perfectly since and I couldn't be happier.

  • AHS needs to step up to the plate when their representative companies fall short. 
    Our refrigerator broke in June and they sent a repair company who "fixed" the problem telling us to wait a few hours and then the fridge should be cold.  Several hours later the fridge was still at room temperature.  Upon contacting the repair company, they said they could not fix it then and would have AHS send out someone else.
    Several days later, a second repair company came.  They said the first company had messed up the repair and determined that parts were required.  Ordering the parts would take two weeks, so they scheduled a return in three weeks.
    At the return date, we received a call that the repair truck had broke down and they would need to re-schedule (not send an alternate or have someone come the next day, but re-schedule).  The new date was the day we were to leave for vacation.  We told the dispatcher that it would need to be a morning appointment.  When they called the day before to give the window, it was an afternoon appointment.  We told them that they had promised morning and they said okay and they would change it.  As we were leaving for vacation at 2:00 PM, we got a call that the technician was on his way.  We told them that they had promised morning and we had to leave and they were not even apologetic.
    The repair company then said the best they could do was three weeks later.  When they came and put in the parts, it still did not work and they said that we would need a new fridge.
    AHS, under the agreement, offered two models for us to choose and we selected the one we wanted.  We requested stainless steel as that was what we had.  They informed me that I could only chose black or white and the upcharge to stainless was my problem.  When I asked for some consideration in light of what I had been through, the person only could say "policy this" and "procedure that".
