    Pet Paradise Resort
I have a rather young dog that has never been away from home overnight and I have been in search for the right kennel for her first experience. The Pet Paradise staff was so nice to talk to and very eager to make her first time away from home a positive experience. They suggested I take advantage of the complimentary Get Acquainted Day first to see how she adapts. The staff evaluated her, placed her in a play group and monitored the playtime with other dogs. I was able to see the group at play with the real time webcam, the staff called and let me know she was doing well and provided me with a report card when I picked her up. I will not hesitate to bring her back for some more play time and I am confident her boarding experience will be a good one.

BOULDER FALLS PET RESORT & DAY SPA
YOU WILL BE SICKENED... Imagine placing your happy, healthy little 15-pound Poodle/Pekingese mix bundle of love into the care of this pet resort, only to be notified less than 20 hours later by an emergency vet hospital that he is severely injured, having been bitten in the face, with his eye irreparably ripped out, by a 53-pound Rhodesian Ridgeback/Boxer mix. How could this have happened?? The last 4 months have been a pure nightmare, with my pup requiring several surgeries and 24/7 around the clock care. He has endured excruciating pain and confusion, and I have endured many sleepless nights with him wailing in pain and having nightmares. What is even more appalling are the lies I was told and the sheer lack of accountability on the part of Melissa Meyer and Boulder Falls Pet Resort. In the 2 weeks prior to placing my pup in their care, I toured their facility 2 separate times. Both times I was shown 3 areas that they use to let the dogs outside.. one small area for tiny dogs; one small area for dogs requiring individual play only; and one area which is the large, main outside play area. I was told that all dogs are required to have their behavior assessed before being boarded at their facility or allowed into the large, main outside play area, so I scheduled him a 3 hour stay for this assessment. Upon picking him up, I was told that he did great, and their own notes indicated he is good with smalls. Since he was too big to be with the tiny dogs, and didnt require individual play, I was assured that he would only be in the large, main play area and grouped with other dogs that are similar in size and temperament. This is obviously NOT what happened. Upon meeting with Melissa Meyer at the facility a week after this incident, I was told that my pup was not in the large, main outside area as I had been assured, but rather had been put in the small area for dogs requiring individual play. And not only was he not alone, he had been placed in this small space with the 53-pound dog and 3 other smalls! When questioning Melissa how they could have allowed this to happen, she responded in a whiny voice, Well, not all big dogs can be around other big dogs. HUH? I was shocked and disgusted by her lack of concern and blatant disregard for my dogs safety. I filed a claim against their insurance company, and most of my pups medical costs have been covered. However, Melissa Meyer and the other owners of Boulder Falls Pet Resort have refused to take responsibility and reimburse me for the money I am out of pocket due to this vacation that was cut short after 8 hours of arrival (flights, hotel, transportation), or for my sons emergency time off work to deal with this before I could get home. Nor have they provided any compensation for the months of pain and suffering on my part and my pups part. If you have any information on this incident that happened on August 8, 2019, please kindly contact me.

Pawfect Pet Sitting & Home Care
Always on time, and very professional! Well worth the cost! Our pets are always happy to see her, and you can tell how much she cares for them. So very glad we found her after trying several other services. She's a keeper for sure.

What a wonderful experience! We have used their services for boarding many times over the last several years. They do a wonderful job taking care of our dogs (2-huskies, 1-beagle and 1-pomeranian). The dogs have never been unhappy to go in when we drop them off. Just recently we decided to leave our almost 2 years old, male Siberian husky there for their 2-week obedience program. I am blown away! What an incredible job they did. I dropped off a lovable but ill-mannered husky and picked up a very well mannered "gentlemen". As with all training, we have to continue to be consistent with him but now he sits, lies down, leaves it (meaning ignores distractions), settles (calms down), comes, stays and goes to "place" (a spot you want him to go to and stay until you say so). He seems happier now that he has all of these boundaries in place and knows what is expected of him. We recently boarded him again for a week while out of town and he was excited to go inside when we got there. He really established a great bond with all the folks there especially his trainer. I would absolutely use their services again for all my needs. And did I mention that I live in the valley, Phoenix, and drive up to Camp Verde. Well worth the drive. P.S. They do a great job grooming as well.

They were very efficient when I dropped off my dog, so I was in and out without a lot of wasted one. My dog seemed to enjoy his stay and because they provided rest periods, he was tired but not completely exhausted like at other day camps I have used. I liked that they had cameras, but I was disappointed that they were off more often than they were on, which is why I gave them a B for quality.

    Second Home Pet Resort
Our dog loved Second Home. The people who work there clearly love dogs and treat them very well. We enjoyed getting the dog's "report card" when he left. We will definitely use Second Home again. There probably are cheaper places to leave your pet, but I think you get what you pay for. We are confident that our dog is being well-cared-for at Second Home.

My dogs actually don't start shaking when we pull in like they do with other places I've taken them. This place has a camera, and they have playtime, my dog who LOVES to play ball gets to play ball and he's made a lot of friends. The management is attentive and awesome. The staff is friendly! We love Pet Paradise!! I attached a picture of one of my dogs after grooming and one while at day camp, smiling :-)

    Doggie Steps Dog Training LLC

I have been extremely please with both training and boarding.  Mark is a terrific trainer.  He is great about scheduling, always arrives on time (I did training classes at my home), and follows the class objectives. He is a very clear communicator - both with training and with the business and paperwork part of things.  He is positive, yet firm, in his training.  My dogs, Willow and Motion, were immediately responsive to him and his direction.  Of course, any dog training is really about training the owner...that would be ME...more than training the dogs!  I learned some effective techniques and commands that I am practicing daily, and my two companions are doing very well.  What I've learned about my physical "presence" and stance, and use of my voice and tone for corrections and praise has been very effective.  There's more for us all to learn, so we will be starting advanced training this week. My goal was to have happy and fun pets, but also to have well-behaved dogs so others love them as much as me. I felt the cost for in home training was fair, since I have two dogs, am able to save travel time, and am able to use the locations the dogs are familiar with for training -  house, yard and neighborhood. When I needed to be gone for business for a week recently, Willow and Motion stayed with Mark at his home.  I knew they would be in good hands, would enjoy his two dogs as playmates, and that they'd get a little extra training reinforcement while I was gone. Mark even sent pictures every other day and a short video so I could see they were having fun. It's just so nice to find someone who is professional, very talented at what he does, responsible and considerate - and who clearly loves dogs!!  You can't go wrong with Doggie Steps!

    University Animal Hospital
Have used University Animal Hospital multiple times for boarding my dog while going on trips.  They take very good care of him. They have indoor/outdoor runs available for dogs, as well as an optional service where they take them out 1-2 times per day so they can play.  He has always stayed in perfect condition while being boarded.  Never had any problems. Never become ill. It is also very reassuring that, since it is an animal hospital facility, they have multiple vets on staff should there ever be a problem. I feel confident leaving him here. Since he is a family member, I would never feel comfortable leaving him at just "any" boarding facility.  I don't have to worry when leaving him here.

    HAYDEN NORTH ANIMAL CLINIC
Our tortoise was attacked by a dog, and suffered serious damage to his front leg and shell. We were worried that he would lose his leg or die. After being emergently cared for at a 24 hour vet, we were referred to Dr. Svoboda. He assessed the damage, cleaned the wound, dressed the leg, epoxied the shell, and cared for the tortoise over the next year as he healed. We were worried we'd lose him after he went into shock and stopped eating, but Dr. Svoboda force fed him and nursed him back to health. Dr. Svoboda was our ally in caring for the tortoise, listening to our concerns and thoughts, intervening as he needed to, encouraging us to do bandage changes and other care to minimize cost, and thinking outside the box to solve problems at low cost. It was a very long process, lasting over a year, but now our tortoise is happy (as best we can tell) and healthy and has almost no limp. His shell is healing, he grazes like a cow, and he is doing great. And the dog is gone, so it won't happen again. We'd highly recommend Dr. Svoboda for any animal care, but he is especially excellent with tortoises.
