Counseling & Mental Health reviews in Philadelphia

On this particular appointment, a new CNP decided to change my  partner's medications entirely, swapping out a totally new medication for the old regime. What happened next was an utter fiasco. Obviously this CNP had never bothered to read the detailed file on my partner, which explained that she had liver disease and a slew of other medications.
The new psychiatric medication prescribed was not only bad for people with liver problems, it also did not pair well with several of my partner's other medications. Not knowing any better, we went ahead and got the new medication and my partner went on it, as prescribed. Nausea, vomiting, sleeplessness, anxiety, depression, and hallucinations commenced. This CNPs carelessness might have caused my partner to die. There have been other problems in the past, but none this severe. This was the last straw.
My overall feeling of this practice is that it is a factory for churning through as many appointments as possible to provide
as much profit as possible. It is obvious to me that the are ill-equipped to treat each patient as an individual.

    Jonathan Beatty MD
I have been seeing Dr. Beatty nearly five years now.  The moment you walk into his clean and inviting waiting room you begin to relax.  The doctor listens and interacts when needed.  He is so easy to talk to.  I never feel he is judging me.  He is knowledgeable, professional and I should add caring.  Another important factor is he is on time.  If your appointment is at 9 you will be seen at 9.  There is no waiting!  .

The resident did the examination and was thorough. She was very nice. The supervising physician came in and checked everything that she did and offered his prognosis. The doctors were great. The billing was a nightmare!
I got three letters stating that I did not pay a co-pay. I paid it on my credit card. I sent in a copy of my credit card statement and a copy of the receipt. I called the billing number each time I got a bill. They still didn't believe me.
On 2/17/15 I got a statement from my insurance company stating that this was a billing error. They billed me twice, once for a visit on 10/7/14 and one for a visit on 10/8/14. I only visited once on 10/7/14.

Both therapists were extremely attentive and developed approaches which were appropriate to my needs. I am continuing treatment with Lisa. Billing is simple because there is an option to set up automatic debit. The office layouts are somewhat odd, but they are private. They can accommodate a range of therapeutic needs. They are also very convenient as they have another office in Northeast Philadelphia.

    Norton Neurology Services
Not well. I was not happy with a clinical statement the Nurse Practitioner made about one of the medications I am currently taking. This statement is not clinically supported by any means. This was extremely surprising as she is specialized in the treatment of MS. I do not trust her clinical judgement.

The office overall gets an A rating because they were very accommodating. They got me into my appointment even though I was late. The administrative staff was very courteous.

I see Dr. Kerson once a year to review my neurological health( I have epilepsy). He's always concerned and knoweledgble. I never feel rushed when I have questions. The staff is helpful and friendly.

The support group from Jefferson Hospital is really great because they educate you. They have somebody from the hospital explain things to you. The more you know, the better you feel and the more empowered you are. The staff stay extra hours to help the families of patients.

    Jody Whitehouse MD
She has always given me invaluable advice about medications but also about family relationships that have been fairly knotty at times. I have other health issues that have an impact on what medications I can use, and she is very cognizant and understanding about the limitations involved.  She is always pleasant and I feel comfortable calling on her at any time should an emergency arise.

    Purcell, Dr. Matthew M.
He is a younger doctor. I believe that young people keep the profession fresh. I don't want old habits and old ways. I like that he is open minded. He has young ideas. I use him for therapy services. I lost my big sister a while ago, and he has been pulling me through it. He is very good. He is really good with professionals. Professionals tend not to trust anyone, and he is very good with them. I would recommend him to others.

I went to her for nine months. I had a burning sensation in my hand due to diabetes and she treated me. The office environment was friendly. A lot of times I waited a long while for my appointment.
