Provider name locked. and his associate Provider name locked. installed a solid wood door and a sidelight in to the entrance to the dining room turned study/home office of my home. The original function of the room was as a Provider name locked. area so the opening was not shaped to accommodate a door of any normal size. So either the opening had to be closed in around the door as some contractors suggested or a sidelight could be added to it as others suggested but either way the opening was not the right size so framing had to be done.
I decided quite quickly that Provider name locked. was my guy after he came out and did an estimate on March 26th. During this time he did the estimate and pointed out some other Provider name locked. areas of my home that needed attention. He did not do it in a way to garner more business, as a matter of fact he never suggested he could do it or suggest anyone who could he just knew it needed attention and told me about it. Thank you Provider name locked. .
The estimate. Well I think originally we had a misunderstanding of the scope of work and it probably stemmed from me not knowing what exactly I wanted. In the end, there was a lot of work done, squaring the opening, tearing out and re-framing a wall, framing the door, hanging the door, framing in the side light, patching drywall and painting. Did I mention that it was not possible to find a door and matching sidelight from a local source? Provider name locked. had to stain all of the wood, frame, door, sidelight and trim to all make a reasonable match. He could not guarantee an exact match because each part was a different wood species and he forgot his magic wand. The price I paid was fair or more than fair for 2 guys and about 3 days of work and over a weekend as well.
So his skill and professionalism are unquestionable.
As for character, he is a nice guy as demonstrated by the initial visit and while the work was being done. You don't always find skill and a good attitude to go with it. Even more so, before he even knew for sure he was going to do the job he put up with my incessant texting (there were over 70 I counted).
So all went well, I like the door and the quality. Here it is 7 months later and I am not unhappy with a bit of it.
Thanks Provider name locked. !

Job went surprisingly well, considering that a lot of things were going on at once in the two main bedrooms in the house. Provider name locked. had to scramble to meet the timetable he set, but he pulled it off with only a small punch list at the end. I was particularly happy with the bookcases he made. Provider name locked. worked from a contract price, not an estimate. The price you see is the price you get.

We joined Angies's List to find new contractors and craftspeople not afraid of old houses and the challenges they present to help us build a period-correct two car garage with studio/office above. While this project was still developing, we bought another old bungalow to renovate that had been neglected and had bad updates for 97 years. While in the discovery phase of what the house needed, it was determined the bathrooms needed to be gutted completely to replumb and rewire. We had hoped to save some of the original flooring and tile, but there was too much rotten framing and wood underneath from leaking plumbing and termites. The house also needed to have some old framing replaced/restored back to its original positioning from previous remuddling/additions.
We researched Bath Remodelers/Handymen and many were months out if they could even give us an estimate. We needed someone to help us get the bathrooms and closets reframed right away so we could stay on track for the plumbers. We called Provider name locked. for an estimate and made an appointment for the next day. Provider name locked. was genuinely excited to come out and look at the old house and what we needed to keep us on track. We agreed on a price for him to come out for a few days that he had free between larger projects. Provider name locked. was on time (early usually), honest, fair, and professional. Most importantly, he was not afraid to dive in where others feared to tread. Provider name locked. was always enthusiastic and we could barely keep up with him at times. He did what we needed fast, but still with attention to the details we needed addressed.
We love old houses and the character and soul they have over new houses. Having said that, it is hard to find skilled contractors willing to do the work, for a reasonable price. Provider name locked. was all of those things and he helped us immensely. We hope to use him and his skills for more of the project when we are further along and ready. When he noticed we shared a love for plants and landscaping, he brought us some herbs he had propagated from his garden.
