Our pup is just about to graduate, and so far we are very pleased with the classes. I have done the puppy thing before, including obedience school, but my husband had not. He quickly became overwhelmed with the furry little bundle of energy, but fortunately we were prepared and had her enrolled ASAP. Since he hasn't gone through this stuff before, I wanted him to be the one to lead her through the classes, however even though I've done obedience training, I still learned a lot in the class and was very pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness of some of the little behavior tricks they showed us.
Our dog is still quite young, so she still has a ways to go, but she is learning quickly and more importantly, my husband and I feel like we are gaining the tools we need to work with her. Particularly considering her young age we actually have fairly few behavior problems since starting Puppy Class.
The trainers are very friendly (we had Provider name locked. for the Puppy class, and if I may say so, she has the perfect energy and patience level for a roomful of puppies) and very accessible. After the first class Provider name locked. encouraged everyone to take a business card and to call or email her if they had any questions/concerns throughout the week. She also hangs around quite a bit after class and answers any one-on-one questions you might have, or will walk you through some of the exercises that you might not have understood well in class.
The school has a few large, fenced training "yards" outside and provides chairs for you to sit in with your pup, and there's a water bowl and pooper scooper if needed. There is also a large building with indoor training areas in case of inclement weather, which we happened to use for one class. While I am happy it's there, the building was really my only complaint, but only because it had less space than the yard, and they also board dogs and have other classes, so there were periods where dogs in another areas would start barking all at once. With all the different smells together and the sounds, the puppies were particularly distracted that class. That said, I would much rather have it as an option for bad weather than not at all.
We are very pleased with the classes and the trainers, so much so that we have already enrolled her in Basic Obedience (that class is $130 for six weeks).
