Transmission Service reviews in Norfolk

    McCarty's Transmission Service, Inc.
My transmission quit on my way to thier shop. They sent a tow truck to my aid. At the shop i got a quote quickly and it was very fair. I was pleased to find out they do more than transmissions... i knew i needed bearings and they gave me the best price of three estimates. The best part is that that all the personel were very pleasent to work with and i was treated with respect. They had my car ready in a few days as they promised and were patient with my frequent calls to see how it was coming along. I will use them in the future and i would definetly recommend their service.

    BOULEVARD TRANSMISSIONS CO
We thought that we needed the transmission repaired and were ready for a huge bill. Boulevard was recommended to us. But when I took my vehicle in he drove it around the block, came back, popped the hood, but on his stethescope and listened to my engine. Then he said, "its not your tranmission but the AC; compressor prob. So with no cost for his time, he sent us across the street to Chris' auto.

    Patriot Automotive and Transmissions
BLUF: Quality Work! Great Customer Service! Excellent Value!  My choice of Patriot Automotive was based on multiple recommendations from San Antonio area performance truck shops and nationally reputable automatic transmission specialists. The recommendations were well founded. The staff was professional, highly knowledgeable and flexible. They assisted in selection of upgraded parts to enhance towing performance and overall reliability. They expedited work so I would be ready for a planned trip, calling periodically to update me on progress and calm my concerns over the timeline. They were flexible when I added A/C repair and multiple routine maintenance items to the list, while still meeting original deadline. Not only did they perform a 2 week follow-up to verify everything was in good working order, but the owner also called after my cross country trip to confirm that the truck performed to expectations. The truck didn't just meet expectations, it now runs better than new. The transmission has more positive shifts and was flawless during a July cross country trip with a 10K lbs. trailer. In fact, transmission temps never broke 185 even pushing hard, fully loaded, on hills, or in the city.  The trans temp never breaks 160 around town without the trailer, despite 100 degree summer days. I think Patriot did an outstanding job, and I expect the tranny to last the life of the truck.

Fast, attentive, professional service. These are hard to find any more. It's nice to know it still exists. Patriot towed my truck in Monday and it was ready Wednesday.

The next day I received a phone call from JAM at 11:12 am to tell me what they found and what they recommended. Turns out I needed exactly what I thought which was all new spark plugs and ignition coils. I was quoted a price of $628 which I thought was a little high but the whole reason I brought it in was because I didn't have time to fix it myself and I've got a 1500 mile round trip planned for next week. JAM also performed a complimentary maintenance inspection and found several other issues. They emailed a list of these issues with pictures and listed under categories of needing immediate or future attention. I am embarrassed to admit the pictures they showed me of my radiator cap and engine coolant. Needless to say the Engine Coolant flush and replace for $167 was a no brainer. They also recommended a transmission fluid flush and replace for $180 which I also had done. At 3:27 PM JAM called to tell me that my truck was ready for pick up. They are only open until 5 PM so it could have been an issue getting there before they closed but I supposed I could have paid over the phone and picked it up later. When I got inside my truck I found that JAM had left a bag of cookies with a note saying they thought I was one smart cookie for choosing them to service my vehicle. I agree! I was very happy with the customer service and the work that was completed. I was also able to take advantage of an online coupon and received a discount of $50. I have read in other reviews elsewhere that some customers received and new customer discount of 5 or 10% off which was not offered to me. Regardless, I am happy that my truck is ready for my trip and JAM has a new customer. I will definitely bring it back for any service it needs in the future.

They were very courteous, professional, and took great pains to explain everything that needed to be done. They also gave me several repair options, including having a used part installed, and explained the risks involved with each. The car's been out the of the shop for 8 months and I haven't had one problem with it. This company has an outstanding reputation and I will definitely be using their services again when I need a major repair.

I brought my 2006 Toyota Tacoma in for an oil change and a loud noise and vibration that I thought might be an expensive transmission problem. The tech got in the truck with me to verify the noise and said no way on the Trans, probably a bad motor mount, much cheaper. When they got it on the lift it was just a loose heater box and bad gasket, even cheaper, YAY!!!  I did feel the oil change was a little expensive about 40% more then other places but the customer service and quality of service is also 100% better then anyone else. You get what you pay for and in this case they are well worth it!! HIGHLY Recommend........

I called and talked with Tom about my cars shifting problem and told him what I thought and he said bring her in and we'll check it out. As soon as Tom got in the car he said he thought it was a clutch problem right away, Turns out he was exactly right, his lead transmission tech fixed it better than new, seriously the car has never ever shifted smoother or better. I was treated with courtesy and respect, just an over all great experience. I've lived here for 26 years and often said I have never found an honest place to take my car. Well it took a while but I've found it.
