    WRIGHT-WAY PLUMBING LLC
My go to plumbers save the day again! Had a back up of the main sewer line, the line is old and broke, they repaired it and put in an access. They were on time and did quality work for a reasonable price. Communication from their office was excellent. Initially called after hours and was called back within 45 minutes.

    Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup
It went well - roots were cleaned out to the street. Serviceman recommended a deluxe service, but performed a more basic one, as I requested. He offered some suggestions about how to avoid or limit similar problems in the future.

    Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup
well. Roots were removed. While there was another clog about a week later, this appeared more a function of a toilet with inadequate flow to pass along the sewage, I could clear out the blockage with a snake and a plunger and correct the flow problem with the toilet. Serviceman offered a more extensive (and expensive) plan that was declined. He still had suggestions for preventive maintenance that I could do myself.

Atomic Plumbing & Drain Cleaning Corporation
They were extremely helpful and friendly
I would highly recommend this company and ask for John or Larry
They came to our place around 8:30-9pm from Williamsburg, Virginia and got the job done.
I called the next day, my washing machine and dish washer were on the Fritz. (I thought it might be because of the main line? Well, it wasnt, but they fixed my washing machine and advised me to use detergent pods for my dishwasher......no extra cost! And they fixed our stopped up kitchen sink at no extra cost. I will definitely use this business again.

    PLANET PLUMBING
I called the dominion power home protection service program and within one hour I was contacted by Todd from planet plumbing. Although it was the day before Thanksgiving he told me that he would come out on Thanksgiving day between nine and 11 which was perfect. He called me around 1115 the next day and told me that he was running a little bit late because of an issue with the previous customer and I responded no problem. He showed up at about 1130 and was very courteous about being a little bit late. I told him it was no problem because I thought that he would not be able to show up in a holiday anyway he was very polite and knowledgeable right off of the bat. I describe my problem he nodded his head and went over to the area where I told him I saw water coming from the lawn. He gathered his tools and came back to the area and quickly located the city clean out line, which was buried underneath two years of dirt. Todd was very polite and conversational during the entire process. When he found the cleanout and remove the top he told me that actually the clog was on the city side of the line and that he would fix it for me even though it's technically a city problem. I was extremely relieved to find out that the issue was not a sewer line failure, but a simple clog. Within 10 minutes, he had the entire line cleared and he went to my residential cleaning out and verify that was clear as well. He told me that had I not have the protection program this would have been A $275 visit. After he was done he cleaned up the area, and painted the cover and replaced everything like he was never there. I would gladly use this company again to perform any of my plumbing needs. An extremely satisfied customer!!!

    Norfolk Plumbing
When I called to schedule service, the person who answered scheduled me quickly and made sure I knew how they billed, and the hourly rate.  I agreed, and was scheduled for later that day.
The plumbers that came out were a little gruff when they were trying to find the cause of the problem but cheered up considerably when they did.
They got everything fixed, and finished as quickly as something like that can be fixed.  They also suggested several long term solutions that were both cheaper and made more sense than our previous plumber.

    Norfolk Plumbing
I am actually disgusted with how poorly I was treated on the telephone by a woman called Lisa when I called this afternoon to inquire about my appointment. The appointment window was 12-4pm and no one had shown as of 4pm.

My husband took the afternoon off of work to be here for the appointment. Someone from Norfolk Plumbing called him this afternoon and asked to change the appointment to tomorrow and he refused because that would mean him taking another five hours off of work, which he can't do. So, when I called to find out about where the plumber was, I gave Lisa my address and she immediately got ugly with me, such an offensive, indignant attitude! She informed me of the emergencies that the plumber was dealing with - mind you, all in the most horrible tone - and that it's a Monday afternoon and that they were super busy. I get that. All I was asking was when the guy would get here. She replied 'today', I asked what time, and she rails into me that she can't give me a time and that he'd be here today. Her tone and attitude were so bad that I actually interrupted her to ask her if she knew how awful she was behaving and how unprofessional she was. She clearly did not care. Never in my life have I been met with such a vile person on the other end of the telephone. If I ever spoke to a client the way she spoke to me I surely would be fired.

Of course I want to cancel the service - routine sewer line maintenance that they performed last year for us - but that would mean more time off work which would only hurt us more. It's now 4:47 pm, it's getting dark, and still no sign of the plumber.

I will never, ever use this service again. The plumber may do a fantastic - or terrible - job and neither would matter to me because of the hideous encounter I had with Lisa at Norfolk Plumbing.

    American Mechanical Inc
I had called several plumbing services on Angie's List, but American Mechanical was the one that agreed to take the job. I've lived in this house since '02, and it was built in 1928. I've never had a problem with the lines insidie the house-until now.
The Service Tech who came out was Ike, and he came out earlier than expected-which I appreciated. He listened to my description of the problem, and then went out to take a look in the crawl space.  After seeing how the plumbing lines were laid out, and where the main sewer line was, he brought in a good sized plumbing snake.  The shower drain wasn't large enough, so he had to pull the toilet and used that pipe to snake the line.
The problem turned out to be roots in the main line-under my house. He snaked the line about 4 times, and flushed the system (kitchen sink, bathroom sink, shower and toilet) to make sure the clog was free and water was not going to back up.
Ike was very personable, very professional and very thorough.  I would definitely use American Mechanical again-they did a great job.
The one small detractor to this story-is the scheduler. I'm sure she's a nice lady, and I'm sure she has a busy job handling a lot of calls.  But I had called the morning of the service to remind them to call me at work when the tech was en route, so I could be at the house when he got there. I discovered that they had scheduled me for the afternoon, and I asked if there was any way to bump to a morning appointment.
I was transferred to Liz, explained the situation and asked if she could move me up in the schedule. She responded with "I'll see what I can do to move you up...", and then hung up.
When someone says something like that to me-I expect that they're going to look at the schedule, and they're going to come right back and tell me whether they can accomodate my request or not.  I do not expect to be brushed off by the scheduler.
I called back and asked to speak with her, but she was on another line; I was told they would ask her to call me back. She didnt', but the tech came out about an hour later--earlier than I had been expecting at that point.
I'll use them again, but the next time I talk to Liz I'll be very specific about what I'm looking for before I let her hang up.

UPDATE: As it turns out--while Ike did pull up a small chunk of roots--he didn't get the entire chunk.  I'm not sure he snaked out to the city line-Ike got a small chunk of roots (loose roots about the size of a baseball) at about the 32' mark in the line.  The day after American Mechanical was out--my crawlspace flooded--again.  I had to call another company, and they found about an 18" lenght of roots that literally blocked the line-about 42' into the pipe.  In all fairness-Ike and the company recommended that I have the line scoped--I declined because there was an additional charge associated with using the scope.  I thought if they snaked the line all the way to the city line it would clear the problem.  Somehow the chunk of roots was missed, and my flooding problem was not resolved.

    Tony & Son Plumbing

Deep blockage cleared.  Would have preferred a bucket to have been placed under the outside release pipe instead of the discharge being released directly onto the garage floor.

    Very personable gentleman.

Don's Plumbing Repair and Drain services
I called about a plumbing back up and gurgling in the pipes.
I left a message and Don called back within an hour.
We scheduled for the following morning.
He came by on time, listened to my description and knew what the problem was.
Don then cleared the roots from my sewage line.
He was in and out in under 2 hours.
    Problem fixed!
    I used a coupon from angle's list.
Don also showed me some tips to save on my water bill.
I will definitely call Don next time I need a plumber.
