Our unit was in disrepair for more than 9 years so there were many things that needed to be fixed.   • I contacted Allen regarding numerous wall cracks on walls of my home due to utility construction in front of my home. He came out to examine the damages taking notes along the way. This was on April 7th and he told me he would have an estimate in a few days. After not hearing back, I called today (April 21) to find out if he had an estimate and why I did not receive any communication in 2 weeks. His response was “I can’t do it, a buddy that was going to help retired”. He added that “it’s too much and I just don’t have the time”. A timely phone call to let me know he would not be able to do the work would have been nice.

  • The guys came out and gave me free estimate of cost. Even said they could match the swirl pattern in my ceiling. Crew arrived and did not hesitate to work. Covered the room with plastic and went to work. Work was finished ahead of schedule. I was amazed at the results of the repairs. They matched the pattern flawlessly.

In fact when Richard was here, he looked at some things that I thought I need done and he said I can just do something else to it to treat it. It looks great. It's like that ad for that other company, It never even happened. We had a lot of water damage and it looks like it has never even happened.

  • Not one aspect of this job has gone according to what Frank told me. In fact the job is still ongoing. We are at the 2 month mark now. I've waited to review for a few reasons. A- Angie's List requires you to wait until the job is complete to complain. (I was told it would be a two week job.) B- After having words with Frank (the owner), he asked me to "wait until the job was complete to nitpick everything". and C- Like a complete idiot, I paid for the work in-full in hopes that it would help speed things up and get better results. LESSON LEARNED: NEVER pay upfront! I have finally decided to write a review...which I will update when the job gets completed. My saga so far: Frank's workers showed up on time half the time, which is 100% better than the owner who never showed up when he said he would be here. I'm talking hours difference, not 10-15 minutes. The workers did not use any protective measures for my carpets during demolition and installation (no booties, nothing laid over the cream colored carpet . Constant tracking up and down two flights of stairs and across the living room,a hallway and my bedroom. All carpet. So all the construction traffic over the course of weeks meant that I had to have the carpets cleaned AGAIN (I had done it a couple months before they started working.) The shower job was initially begun due to a leak and deemed the repair was as costly as a completely new shower. So the shower was gutted; pipes were cut and capped. I came home at 11pm that night to find water all over my wooden dining room floor, actively spraying from the pipe in the shower that didn't get sealed off well. Frank and one of his guys were here until 130am cleaning up that mess. I'm thinking about the 7am alarm going off for work in a few hours and wondering how bad the wooden floor is going to be damaged in the dining room. Frank assured me 'he would fix whatever needed to be done. That's what his liability insurance is for although he doesn't want to have to use it.' On to the next chapter... When the shower (which is located at the foot of the garden tub) was gutted, rotten wood was found which I was told would be replaced. I walk in on a day that the workers decided to come in late only to find that the rotten wood I could still see had not been replaced and the work done to that point indicated it would not be. So now, I'm babysitting. Which I had already discussed before the job was accepted that I did NOT want to have to do. The workers tore out the wood and replaced it after I told them they could not lay tile until it was done. In the nature of fairness, the tilework is BEAUTIFUL in my shower. I am thrilled with how beautiful it is. After the tile comes the custom glass though. I was not informed until after the job was begun that the custom glass would additionally delay the finish time but that it was out of the owner's hands. It would take 2-3 weeks for the glass to come in, but it would only be a 2-2.5 hr install. While I'm waiting 3 weeks for the glass, Frank repaired the ceiling in my dining room directly below the bathroom (remember that leak I mentioned). He patched the hole, spread the plaster and put the swirly designs in it to match the rest of the ceiling. Only...it doesn't match. The rest of the ceiling is a sanded finish with very light swirl strokes and the 4sqft area he repaired has deep, obvious swirl strokes. But it's a ceiling, and really...who notices these things, right?... What was immediately noticed from his ceiling work was the fact that he had slung plaster all over the place. It was on the ceiling fan, the walls, the baseboards, the banister and the carpet on the stairs. I cleaned this all up since it was left behind. What was NOT noticed until a different problem crept in was that he had placed a piece of foam board in the subfloor where an altogether and unrelated leak had been dripping occasionally. **I found out that this leak was due to a clogged drain line in the AC unit upstairs. The ceiling got saturated. I called my AC repairman and he stuck his whole hand through the ceiling. The one that was just replaced. Which was when the foam board was found. Which I guess was supposed to catch the occasional drip so it could dry up in the subfloor. So instead of pointing out an additional problem that I had and needed to address, he just covered it up. No, the AC leak was not his problem, but being a general contractor, he should have definitely been able to identify it. So, flushing the AC was $100 and repairing the ceiling AGAIN was about $800. After waiting 3 weeks for the glass, I contacted Frank and asked on a status update. His reply was that it had NOT been 10-15 business days and he would let me know. Now I am clear that weeks and business days are not synonomous. However, when a contractor uses the term weeks, he is referring to business days only. Unless he is referring to how long his job will take, and then 2 weeks means over 2 months. I have not figured out that equation yet. So, here we are now up to the arrival of the custom glass. Which is down to the last possible minute because I have summer guests arriving the next day. (I'm going to insert here that Frank did rig my shower so that I could use it with a curtain which kept most of the water in the shower and off the floor. I was able to use the shower while my family visited for two weeks, and although the ceiling wasn't painted, there was no longer a hole in it, so my home was quite livable during my family's stay. As Frank assured me it would be.) Back to the glass...it arrived in store on Fri afternoon. Was scheduled for install on Monday morning. Family arriving Tues... Monday morning 45 minutes BEFORE they are due to arrive, Frank calls to let me know the glass is scratched and not all pieces came in. It will be another week. yay. Since family is here, I make them wait two weeks. My shower glass was installed yesterday. My dining room ceiling was painted yesterday. My summer nightmare was due to be finished yesterday. It is not over. The glass door was measured improperly and has to be reordered. The glass wall has a scratch in it and has to be reordered....The trim work from my custom wood walls that butt up against the shower tile had to be removed for the glass...so, here I am still waiting for a job to be finished that was begun the last week of June. It's a corner shower. Takes up about 3 feet of space. Incredible how labor intensive it has been.

The crews are concerned with getting the job done; and if it was not done correctly, they would fix it....no questions asked. Pleasure to deal with this professional crew.
