    Black Goose Chimney
Black Goose is simply an outstanding company! Prompt, professional, thorough, efficient, accomodating are words that describe this company along with their willingness to get the job done in spite of terrible weather delays. Hipp Masonry Works Inc
Chuck Hipp and his employee, Antonio, did a phenomenal job! The brick fireplace was sinking and the bricks were separating from the wall. After investigation Chuck determined that there were no footers under the fireplace. He installed new footers, supported the brick wall and reattached all the bricks and suggested the fireplace be covered with stucco and tiles to match the Spanish style of the house. The fireplace turned out beautifully and became the true focal point of the living room. The house was listed for sale and I know the beautiful stucco fireplace helped to sell the home quickly. We moved to our new 1948 house and discovered that the chimney needed to be rebuilt. I received a bid from A Step in Time chimney sweeps which was astronomical. I then consulted a structural engineer who confirmed the bid was outrageously high. He recommended a good brickmason be consulted. I found Chuck Hipp and Hipp Masonry Works on Angies List. Chuck investigated the problem and determined that the chimney needed to be torn down and rebuilt at the roof line and he was able utilize new bricks with old bricks to match the new chimney addition to the existing home and bottom half of the chimney. He asked me to drive around and take photos of chimneys I liked and he would duplicate it. I found a chimney on a beautiful older home and Chuck was able to duplicate it to suit my brick, Tudor home. It is gorgeous and best of all the fireplace can now be used for a beautiful wood fire. He then removed and replaced all the broken, damaged bricks throughout the exterior of the house using mainly old bricks salvaged room the chimney rebuild. Chuck and Antonio did incredible work and at half the price of the previous bid. Before they left they brought in topsoil to fill in any holes in our lawn due to the work and they used soil to regrade the back of the house which had been the cause of damage to lower bricks. They also repointed the front steps and remortered the boxes for the exterior porch lights which were hanging loose from the brick exterior. I will only call the HippMasonry Works for any brick work.

It went great. I had called a well know chimney sweep company and critter control in January 2017. Both told me they couldn't do anything with an active resident. Wickline said they would have taken on an active resident . I wish I would have known about them earlier .

Will and the person that works with him (Ron) arrived at our home when they said they would. Will explained everything they were doing. The bathroom is beautiful! Workmanship is second to none. The subs that Will had do our roof, plumbing and some masonry were equally professional and had the same work ethic. If we were not going to put our home on the market I assure you we would not even think of calling another contractor. ODI would have a customer for life. Will, please pass on to Ron and the others you had work on our home how pleased we are. The original estimate was about $10K but because of us selecting higher priced items than the allowances and THIS IS THE BIGGY one half of our roof (it is a large roof with a shallow pitch) having to be replaced ran the final cost to about $16K.

    Hipp Masonry Works Inc
As others have complained, how does someone too busy to return calls or answer email have the highest rating possible? Doesn't make sense. I understand this is a small business but at least let customers know that you are not accepting new work instead of being unresponsive.

    JES Foundation Repair
When I called to make the appointment, I was pleased with how quickly they were able to schedule the estimate appointment. On the day of the appointment, Ian was running late, but he called and offered to reschedule, He was very understanding of my scheduling issues. When Ian arrived, I was very impressed with how considerate he was of the scope of the job and the way he looked for the most economical solution. In the end, he recommended another type of repair as the first step to resolving our issue. What impressed me most was that this recommendation would not financially benefit JES. This showed me that JES wants the customer to be happy and feel that they are not wasting their time nor their money. I would not hesitate to contact JES for any future needs and hope the rest of the company is as professional as Ian!

    Tidewater Masonry
I had called three masons to come out to give me estimates. The only person who replied was Mr. Cote and he called back within a week. He came out a couple of days later and assessed the damage to the steps, and I had asked him if the bricks could just be "patched up" because we couldn't afford to get the whole staircase rebuilt. He told me what he would do, and it entailed not just giving a quick fix to the bricks that had sunk and became loose, but how he would take off the offending bricks, build them up, refill with mortar and clean out the cracked mortar from *all* the bricks on the stairs and refill them. He used a tool that was equivalent to a cake decorating bag, which enabled the mortar to be pumped deep into the joints. Every question I had during the repair process he not only explained them, but he showed me what he had done in great detail. We are so thankful he worked with our finances and we both laid out a payment plan so we could get the work done. He and his helper, Carson had wonderful personalities, were easy to talk to and consistently worked very hard. Our whole family is amazed at how wonderful these ol' steps look, and I have faith that they will hold up for quite some time. Thank you Leo, Deb and Carson. A++ (p.s. the other contractors I had called still haven't called me back)

    Chimney USA
With all of the rain we have had in recent months, my fireplace, chimney and vent chimney to my boiler had developed some pretty severe leaks that seemed to be getting worse with each rain. I called Matt to do an inspection since we were expecting a hurricane. We set an appointment, but when it was clear we would most likely begin to feel the storm on the day set, Matt called me and came out two days earlier than the appointment. He tried to make a couple of quick fixes to help me get through the storm. Today Will came to do the actual repairs. He was very thorough. He took care of the cracked mortar in the bricks as well as the cracked crowns and water sealed the brick. I hope this all does the trick. Matt and Will were punctual, polite and professional.

    Tidewater Masonry
Mr. Cote arrived at the agreed time to review the work that needed to be done.  He looked over the area carefully and offered me a competitive quote which I accepted.  We agreed on a no later than completion date for the work to be done which was two weeks from the date of the signing of the contract and agreed that he could perform the work any time before that date.  The next day Mr. Cote showed up and completed all of the work. The workmanship was excellent.  He even removed some excess mortar that had been left on the bricks from a repair four years ago. I will use this company again should I ever need a mason.

    Magic Sweep Corporation
Magic Sweep was very responsive and punctual when I called to schedule an inspection of my chimney, which was required for selling our house. After the inspection they sent the report, which included two fuzzy images and the finding of open mortar joints in the chimney flue, and a quote for $3688 of repairs. The quote didn't include an issue I requested, so they went back to the house and sent me another quote for $775 to repair the cap mortar. When I called to discuss options, I was told that they could repair the issues by lining the entire chimney with the Heatshield Resurfacing System. I asked if there were any cheaper options and was told no. I pressed a bit, thinking there must be some middle ground, and Magic Sweep stuck to their plan and their quote. I received a quote from another company to repair the same issues (with a different method) and provide a certificate of safety for $1800.
