Exchanged Emails And Was set to Sign a Contract to Replace part of Our Driveway. Sent Them an Email Agreeing to One of The Two Days That They Had Proposed. Never Heard Back From Them Despite Numerous Emails And Voicemail Messages.

It was a really good experience.  The only issue was that due to the enormous response he wasn’t able to get to us for a few months.  He was very prompt with getting the measurements and was good about letting  us know when he was available.

I emailed Accent on 3 different occasions with no response.  Then, I ran
across their ad on CL and called them.  The female that answered the
phone made no apologies or excuses about why no one returned my email.
She set me up with someone named Jesus.
Jesus came out and I could not understand a word he said, his English was very, very bad.  He took measurements and said he would email me the estimate that afternoon, which I didn't get.  I think I was able to make out that I need to order a minimum of concrete and the sidewalk job I was requesting would not be enough to cover the minimum, so I would have to pay an additional $800.  Again, his English was terrible, so I may be way off on this.   I was willing to give them a chance, but not anymore.

We were looking for a contractor to replace my old deck and main house roof in the Northern Virginia and area since this was a rental property and were not close to we needed someone really reliable and trustworthy. We called many companies and they were one of the first to respond and also did both of the projects that we needed done so it was nice to deal with one company rather than two separate ones. At first we wondered if it was a better a idea to hire two different companies, one that specializes in each, but we felt comfortable enough with this company to give them all the work and it turned out to be a great decision this company really has top notch quality in all the construction work they do. There price wasn't the cheapest or the most expensive but we felt the most comfortable with them and considering we were not at the property since we live in Norfolk the project went extremely smooth, the job manager kept us up to date with everything that was going on and also sent pictures while the job was going on. They took care of all the permits, HOA approvals, and whatever else needed to be done to make sure it was all done right. Overall great company to hire for your construction projects, very honest and reliable.

.When I contacted them, Bill came out to give me a quote within 24 hours. At that time, I only had a few ideas of what I wanted to do. We walked around the entire pool area, discussed quite a few options, and he gave me a quote. He had the lowest price on the concrete resurfacing and I did not solicit quotes for the pavers or wall but the price seemed very reasonable. We discussed start dates, signed a contract, and he put me on the schedule. At that point, I still had a few things to decide on such as paver colors, design, etc. as well as pool deck colors. I used most of the couple of weeks before the work started to figure it all out and Bill was very patient and helpful during the process. He came out to the house one day to leave a few samples on the pool deck to help decide exactly what we wanted to go with. He always answered my emails or took my calls. By the time my work started, I had added on to the job and he wrote up the final quote and contract which was completely in line with expectations and they got to work. They started on a Tuesday and worked everyday including the weekend through the following Thursday. Bill and his crew were always professional. I was at work most days but did spend a couple of days at home during the project. I really gained an appreciation of their attention to detail and craftsmanship and it is obvious they take great pride in their work. The finished project exceeded my expectations and I would not hesitate to recommend this company to anyone.

    Gibson Concrete
This is in response to our new home bought july of 2010 of which all the concrete was handled by Richard Gibson of Gibson Concrete. 2010 was the winter of that huge snow storm for hampton roads sometime in December, and i certainly salted my driveway during that storm 6 months after the concrete had been laid. A few months after Dec. I started noticing what looked like etching in my driveway and that the finish could be kicked up with the toe of my sneaker. After some research online of different concrete forums, with a range of people from guys sticking up for what they had observed throughout their lives, and professionals who read and attend conventions about concrete, there seemed to be a recurring message that a bad job is just a bad job. I learned that a lot of "pros" similar to Richard's company may cheat whatever process that the concrete has to go through by tampering with the inspected and passed original mix (especially on domestic jobs where an inspector isn't always around). I HAD TO PAY $300 DOLLARS TO FIX A BRAND NEW DRIVEWAY AND I HAD TO GET MY BUILDER TO MAKE RICHARD GIBSON FINALLY RETURN MY PHONE CALLS. I want more concrete work done but it's not going to be from this company.

This job was botched. There are streaks in the overlay color. Color was not applied correctly. There are footprints in the concete. It took months to get this patio completed. There were various excuses, some legit (having to do with very hot weather, so concrete would dry too quickly) but not months worth of excuses. Our contractor was wonderful and negotiated the price so we did not pay for labor. I understand our crew is no longer employed by this company. I also know several people who are very pleased with the work done for them by this company. Our terrible experience is an exception. Still we have to live with this ugly patio until we can afford to hire someone to redo it.
