Repair & Maintenance reviews in New York

  • The service guy came out three times to try to fix the problem, and all three times he said it was something different, and it is still not fixed. When I call the main number to schedule another appointment, the guy who answers the phone says "I'll call you back in five minutes" and five HOURS later he still hasn't called back. They say on their website and on their voice mail "where customer service is number 1" and that is a total lie. Would never use them again.

  • He came back because it didn't work. It's still working now though. It's working okay. There was a $59 charge that I didn't know about just for them to come out. I thought it was a down payment for the work, but it was just for them to come out. If you're going to have an extra charge for something, you should let your customers know in the beginning. I would have dumped the service had I known it. I could have bought a new refrigerator for about $100 more. I had a hard time with the woman I talked to on the phone. The quality of the work was good. The refrigerator is still working.

  • This service provider is the one you get when you go to Maytag's website to schedule repair.  Wow, they really suck.  The only thing good I can say about them is that they do come during their time window... which is a 4-hour window.  They insist on sending someone out to look at the problem without any parts for your machine, even though I described in detail what the problem was.  Meaning that you have to stay at home and wait for them twice at a bare minimum.  In this case, it took something like 4 visits (I lost count after a while) to finally fix the problem.  The first time someone actually came with parts, he refused to do the work because it required removing the dryer that was stacked on top of the washer -- even though I had explained this in advance.  The first guy had told me that he could get the major part that had to be replaced (the drum, I think) covered under warranty.  That turned out not to be the case.  In all, in addition to the inconvenience caused by having to stay home from work that many times, the repair cost nearly as much as a new washer -- which wasn't an option, since it's a discontinued model in a size that isn't made anymore but is required to fit a space in my kitchen.
Avoid these guys.  Instead find a better-qualified repair service here on AngiesList, which is what I am doing now that my dryer needs repair.
    So much for "Maytag dependability"...
