Dr. Meyers is great.  She listens to you and helps you work out the problems in front of you.  She is empathic and states her views where she keeps me grounded.  I would highly recommend her to others.

I called Dr. Schroeder looking for treatment for a specific issue, in addition to excellent treatment I am currently receiving. Dr. Schroeder spent some time with me discussing my situation, and gently concluded that her expertise in the area for which I was seeking assistance was not extensive enough to be the sole reason for my seeing her, rather than her becoming my main doctor. She is one of several doctors I contacted for this purpose, but she is the only one who was caring, not at all dismissive, and genuinely seemed interested in being of some assistance. She suggested I contact a clinic in a nearby state that specializes in the area of concern, which has a branch in our area. This was such a different response to the other practitioners I'd contacted whose responses ranged from abrupt-bordering-on-hostile to totally uninterested.

Dr. Moss was extremely guarded (almost suspicious) from the beginning of the conversation. She asked me a lot of questions about why I wasn't doing alternative things rather than seeking her help. I got the distinct impression that she really didn't want to take me on as a patient, although she didn't actually say that and allowed me to continue the conversation, yet responding negatively to everything I said and asked. She was very stiff and formal. Her reluctance to say "I am not interested in treating you" put me in the awkward position of having to direct the call myself and finally conclude that seeing her would not be in my best interest.

He is very wise. He is an excellent listener. He gives very sage advice. He is very balanced and even headed I would say. He is very personable, steady, calm and collected and makes you comfortable.

Dr. Lublin is brilliant and kind. He is very patient and dedicated. He is great to work with. He is a little bit pricey. From what I know about Dr. Lublin I think that if you did need the help and were not in a terribly sound financial situation he would be willing to help you and work with you.

I have received therapy from Joan for approximately four years now. She is extraordinary. I began in individual therapy and after about six months switched to group, then went into couples therapy with my husband. Joan practices social therapy, which is unlike the traditional psychotherapy I was used to. She is much more actively involved in the conversation and will not sit back passively (or fall asleep like my last therapist) while you talk. I went to her for help with depression and marital issues, and the results have been miraculous. She is a former dancer and dance therapist and also treats athletes how to maximize their performance.

Dr. Lawrence was the first mental-health professional I'd ever encountered with whom I felt completely comfortable. Her style is laid back and she listens well but participates in conversations rather than sitting in that awkward silence while the patient does or doesn't babble on, making one feel like an idiot as so many practitioners do. She seems to tailor the sessions to her patient's needs both overall and during each session, attacking ongoing issues but also addressing specific occurrences as they happen. Being able to talk to her and having her gentle but firm guidance has helped me immeasurably on the long, slow, painful road back to a semblance of normalcy. Her assistance to both me and my husband (in how to deal with me) has been invaluable and may have literally saved my life on more than one occasion. She is entirely non-judgmental, reasonable and has made me feel comfortable in a way that no one else in the counseling professions has. She is open in her feedback, interested in exploring any avenue which may prove beneficial, shares her own experiences and those of which she's heard, works with metaphors and examples to help clarify things, and is very honest about things about which she doesn't know or areas in which she has no experience. She treats her patients as humans with no arrogance or superior attitude. After innumerable negative experiences with mental health professionals, it is a relief to have someone I can count on whom I believe is in a position to help me, as shown by how much progress I have made under her care.

I have made some wonderful improvements in my life with Dr. Hauser's help. I set and maintained boundaries with my parents and my codependent ex-girlfriend. I quit the job that had been making me miserable. And I finally started eating right; I've lost 30 pounds thus far. Dr. Hauser is results-oriented -- he won't let you get away with sliding. Coming to Washington Square was one of the best decisions I've ever made, because therapy there has changed my life.
