Paper Shredding reviews in New York

Secure Shred called when they were on the way and arrived promptly. The young man came to my apartment and loaded my papers into a bin. I went with him curbside where I watched my papers being pulverized. I appreciate that the shredded paper is then recycled into commercial paper products. I am pleased with the service and do highly recommend Secure Shred.

Overall, they were good. There were some response issues that made me leave the "B" not "A". I had to call and email before I was able to book Time. However, the price was right and on the actual day the men/shredders were punctual and courteous and fast. Unfortunately, in the quickness one bag was missed, albeit by me. When I called to ask if I could meet the truck somewhere, due to the left bag OR if there was any other resolution, my call and email was not returned. Kind of a bummer, but otherwise this is a low stress process and Time was just fine. The problem was not the actual service....and for that is the important part.

Two gentlemen came on time and were not only strong, thorough and efficient but empathetic to my situation. From beginning to end, the entire staff was extremely helpful. They gave the best price, worked with my schedule and let me watch every piece of paper get shredded. I highly recommend them.

It could not have been done more professionally or perfectly. Plus the office we moved to was not really prepared for us to come; they were seeing patients, gave us a hard time about the day of the move, didn't help us much at all and were overall, not very agreeable. Jimmy was amazing. He dealt with all the difficult personalities, was professional and worked around all the obstacles. This guy is the epitome of what you want when you hire a professional. I am hiring him again in June when I move out of my NYC apartment to move down to PA to live with my new husband. I have moved a lot in the last 2 years and had one "ok" experience and one terrible experience with movers that had good reviews. I would never use anyone except Jimmy again. NO comparison. He really cares about the job he does and he is so competitively priced it's mind blowing. The original estimate was actually lower, but because I needed him to help me do so much packing and he had to put in an entire extra day, it went up, but it was still very reasonable.

It went very well. The guys called in advance to let me know that I was the next stop, came to the apartment with the wheeled container and helped me stuff my papers in. Out at the truck I was shown how the mechanized process works -- container fed into elevator which lifts it up and dumps the papers in the powerful shredder inside the truck. I watched it all happen on a little monitor. Whole process from phone call to completion was 1/2 hour. Young guy and driver both expert, professional and nice. Staff at the office who set up the appointment and provided the Certificate of Insurance efficient, effective and very nice. I will use Time Shred again.

Both the driver and I were running a bit late; I communicated with the office and, later, with the driver so we'd both get to my place at the same time.  It worked out very well.  The gentleman who handled the bin brought it up to my apartment door and worked hard to stuff the paper to be shred into the bin so it would all fit.  He was efficient and polite, as was the driver who had to stay with the truck. The bin was brought downstairs, loaded onto the truck, and I watched on a monitor on the side of the truck as the paper was shred.  I could not have asked for better, more polite, more helpful, service.  I will definitely be calling these folks again.
One of the things I learned for the next time is that it is probably better to  store the paper to be shred in boxes rather than plastic grocery shopping bags.  (I used both.)   All of the paper was simply dumped into the bin and I got my boxes back; the plastic grocery bags were torn open so the paper could be dumped out and the plastic bags were left with me to throw away.  If I had known not to tie the plastic bags, I would have saved us a little bit of time and effort. Now I know.

Everything was excellent, except the late arrival, for which I forgave them because the weather was totally miserable that day, and in NYC, any raindrops bring traffic to a snarl. Just wish that someone had called to tell me they would be late.
An employee, whose name I neglected to record, brought a humungus bin on wheels to our apartment door, where we had 18 thirty gallon sized garbage bags waiting, filled with papers .  Since their truck brings all shredded paper to be recycled, the plastic garbage bags couldnt go through the shredding process, so the contents had to be emptied into the bin.  The man treated each bag with careful respectfulness of the need for those papers to be private, gently emptying them while focusing on the bag and being careful to shake each one to insure there were no papers left inside, and handing each emptied bag to us. He was all business, and I was relieved and grateful that he was there to process and not to look at the content of the papers.
After the 17th bag, the bin was full, so he said he'd bring the last bag along with the bin, and he pulled the lid of the bin down so there would be no possibility of any papers flying off.  We were able to accompany him to the truck, meeting his partner, who had been waiting to help him roll the very heavy bin to the waiting truck.
Then the fun began!  Lots of buttons pushed, noises, the bin put in place and grabbed by metal pincers that held it steady as it raised the bin, then tipped it over, and we could see on a closed circuit tv the way that the papers were first pushed out, then over toward the shredding devices.  We watched the papers whirling and whooshing into the shredding blades.  I have to admit that I wondered if possibly we were looking at a tape of stuff getting shredded, and that we weren't really seeing our own papers.  But that was clearly refuted when the remains of the 18th bag were put into the bin and put through the same process and we saw on the tv a much smaller load undergoing the shredding.
Start to finish took about a half hour  Everything was handled with professionalism and efficiency, security and protection.

Couldn't have been a better experience. Called at 2:30pm on a Tuesday; booked for 8am - 9am the following day. Kelly arrived on time, with good cheer, emptied everything into a 90 gallon bin, and walked me to the truck where I watched it loaded and shredded.
Professional and courteous, Kelly, Joe (in the office) and everyone else couldn't have been easier to work with. Why can't everyone be so good?

I called and arranged for next-day pickup (between 9AM and 1PM). Was quoted minimum price of $85 plus tax,for up to 300 pounds. Payment by either cash, check, or credit card. Was told that driver would call 15-20 minutes before arrival. Driver arrived within time frame but without calling first (the only negative). He was very professional and pleasant. I went down to ttruck with him and watched entire automated shredding process via cctv screen on outside of truck. Driver explained whole shredding and recycling process. A painless, even fun, experience. But next time I'll wait until I accumiulate more than one large garbage bag, to make it even more cost-effective.
