  • He was absolutely wonderful. He was extremely competent. I will highly, highly recommend him. He is a big deal man. He took a lot of trouble to speak to me about my issue. The x ray and the whole department seemed to be well run and efficient.  They were very kind and very welcoming. They didn’t have long, long hours of wait. I had to have x rays before I saw the doctor. It took me quite a while to get an appointment with him because he is a very important person now. Once I did, I was taken promptly. I was treated very nicely. They took care of my billing very quickly. I saw the doctor and he spent plenty of time with me to discuss my problem with me. He followed up with me several months later. He was at the end of my treatment for the problem so I was basically healing at the time I saw him. I was very happy. I thought he was just wonderful.  In terms of availability, it was hard to get an appointment because I had to wait quite a while. The staff was all terrific.

  • My wife and son felt very comfortable talking to him. He took x-rays. He explained options of the surgery. He is well rated on a number of sites. He did a good job on the surgery. He did not touch the tattoo on my son's chest.

  • He is AAA and everyone around him is fabulous.  He is incredibly caring, he is a wonderful surgeon, and he has been successful with both of us.  He is very thorough and won’t suggest something that isn’t needed or isn’t going to work.  The staff walks you through everything and they are fabulous.

  • Although Dr. Fragomen was late for the appointment, the nurse kept me apprised of his arrival. When he arrived, he took his time and spent a long time getting my history and doing the actual examination. There was no sense of him being rushed and he was extremely thorough in his examination of my shoulder an arm. Throughout the examination he explained what he was doing, why, and the reasons for why he was doing it. Conveniently the Radiology suite was close by and I was able to expedite my scans he wanted done. Dr. Fragomen prescribed a treatment plan and I followed up on it and checked back with him in a few weeks. At that time he made a modification of my treatment based on additional data and I am currently following it successfully. I recommend Dr. Fragomen highly for his attention to detail and careful and thorough examination and diagnosis skills.

  • I had practically no pain whatsoever. He is very personable and pleasant to talk to and you enjoy talking to him. He is like a regular guy and makes you feel very much at ease. He is the most knowledgeable doctor I have ever come across with my shoulder problem. He took one look at my x-rays and the MRI and told me that he could definitely help me. He is wonderful and a very nice person too. I would recommend him to anybody who has shoulder problems. I recommended him to a couple of others and I know that they went to see him because I got a Thank You card from him. His staff is terrific. He gave me my life back and I have told him that. I had my shoulder done in October 2010 and I now lift 50-pound bags. I never had to go for physical therapy. He is simply wonderful.

  • The examination was very thorough and I was sent on to the X ray department immediately where they explained everything that was being done and why.  The doctor reviewed the scans and prescribed an effective course of treatment.  It was a long office visit, but very thorough and comprehensive and I don't have to return for a follow-up unless something drastic occurs. The negative was that seeing the doctor took a while, so I was there at 9 AM but I have a 40 minute wait.

  • My first appointment with him (despite a long wait) was very impressive. He seemed very sympathetic, took his time and even had some visiting doctors from China sit in on some of the exam. He explained the problems and what he intended to do with the surgery. So far, so good. The surgery itself went much easier than I expected, but the story goes down hill from here. When I went back for a post-op visit, I probably waited 90 minutes in the waiting room which was filled with people (probably 15 or so). When I finally got to see Dr. Flatow he had to consult his records to recall exactly what he did (just a week later) and he spent literally two minutes with me stating everything seemed fine and after physical therapy I'd be back in business and playing tennis again soon. With that i was dismissed. I was stunned at the difference between the before surgery Dr and the after surgery Dr. They seemed like two different people. I started physical therapy and after 8 sessions or so of no progress I began to get concerned. I did the full course of therapy (14 sessions as I recall) with little improvement and continued on my own as instructed. In the end I was hugely disappointed with the results. My shoulder is no better today than it was before surgery, but after the factory experience of my post-op visit I have no interest in returning for an evaluation or considering additional surgery. My tennis days are sadly over and I regret the surgery and the painful rehab that produced nothing.

  • Dr. Joe is very gifted at neurosoma massage. This technique is like no massage technique that is being practiced. It should be considered something other than massage work because unlike swedish massage or so-called "deep tissue" massage you will not only feel better when you leave his office but your body will continue to feel better after the lactic acid has been removed from the muscle spindles and flushed through your liver. In my opinion it is very important to understand the basic physiology behind what is happening in your body as a result of this massage work. For the first three or four days after you receive neurosoma treatment you will feel sore as the lactic acid that has been trapped in the muscle spindles gets released and enters your blood stream. Your body will produce histamine as a result of the massage and this can also cause some soreness. However, after your body has adjusted to the affects of the treatment you will, day by day, start to feel better and better and more and more pain free. This technique works like nothing you have ever experienced before without drugs and without a regimen of special stretches that you have to do at home. It helps the body heal itself. Getting worked on by Dr. Joe is as easy as telling him where you are feeling pain, lying on his table and having him perform the massage technique (work). I am still amazed and indebted to Thomas Griner for developing this technique and also indebted to Dr. Joe for learning how to perform it.

  • My hope was to be able to play tennis again. The surgery itself went fine. No pain during surgery.. semi-conscious. The first 72 hours or so after the intial anesthetic wore off were very painful. (Can't blame that on Dr Flatow although a stronger pain-killer would have helped). A few days after surgery, I went for the initial post-op checkup. As I recall, I had to wait two hours in the waiting room and Dr. Flatow spent probably two minutes with me which was disappointing. He seemed pleased with the surgery. I started rehab and had a second post-op with him. I was not very pleased with my progress. Again, a two hour wait and another 2 minute consultation. All of the initial thoroughness seemed to have disappeared. He almost seemed like a different person and I left feeling that I had been suckered. That is, once the surgery was done (and the big bucks earned), I instantly became a non-entity. In the end, after doing re-hab, my shoulder never recovered to the point I could play tennis again. I basically feel the surgery was a waste of time, money and pain. I regret having it done, but that is 20/20 hindsight.

  • He is an amazing doctor. He operates out of the hospital for special surgery. The hospital is excellent for its availability, the quality of the service, and the quality of the staff. I have recommended him to people who have the same problems as I do. I started with him a year and a half ago and my last visit was in March.
