  • This was a long distance move.  I needed the contents of my NYC apartment moved to Cleveland, Ohio.  In Cleveland, I was moving into a (large) house with a relative.  All the items from NYC were going to various places in the house in Cleveland.
    I contacted AllStar moving for a quote.  The long distance fee was $3,300 - travel time between the two locations.  (The travel time cost is included in moving cost noted in this review.)  A representative came to my apartment to provide a packing and moving quote to pack goods, put them on the truck and unload the truck at the destination.
    The move was excellent.  Between the time of the quote and the move, AllStar Moving was very responsive to answering various questions.  On the day the goods were packed, the staff did an excellent job packing goods, taking excellent care of breakables, labeled each box, asking my input about where the boxes would go at the destination.  Two of the four guys who did the packing / loading phase were in Cleveland to unload the truck.  The contents where going on all three floors, plus basement, of the main house and second floor of a detached garage.
    Labeling the boxes was a major help in the unpacking process.  After the move, as I went through boxes, everything arrived safe - nothing was broken.
    During both the packing / loading and unpacking phases, the AllStar Moving staff was very helpful and courteous.

  • Packing in NYC went well, but apart from them service was extremely bad, and would not recommend them as providers:
    1. Only 2 men showed up to unload in Boston instead of 3 as in NYC. 
    2. Despite being told about the time window to unload in Boston, they showed up about 90 minutes late.
    3. Because of 1-2, we missed the opportunity to load the remainder of the items in storage since the storage closed, and had to scramble to find replacement storage at a higher price.
    4. Got a call from the Mr. Provider name locked. the next day, and instead of apologizing for the hardship the crew has caused us, he tried to renegotiate the value of the contract since they had to stay for an extra night to deliver the items next morning to the storage we have found, arguing that they had to find a place for the 2 men to stay during the night. After telling him that I am extremely frustrated with the service, I will not pay extra, and that they are legally obliged to deliver the remainder of the furniture that I have not signed that I have released, he told me he will call me back after he re-evaluates the situation. Instead, I got a call from the driver telling me that he will meet me at the storage place. The drivers told me later that they slept in the truck as the moving company did not provide for hotel stay for them.
    5. They damaged an expensive lamp shade, and we have been unsuccessful in contacting the insurance service despite multiple attempts by phone and email. When calling, the phone answering machine tells you that you should NOT leave a message about your claim but you should trying to call again...typical standard approach to decreasing the claim liability by increasing the friction and cost of the interaction. 
    In total, overall horrible service, and lack of accountability which adds to the stress of moving instead of trying to partner with the customer to ease it.

  • The estimate was great, the guy who packed me up were great.  I was given a 2 week window to receive my stuff. When it arrived early sunday morning 8AM, the driver informed me he had a 18 Provider name locked. & could not fit into the gated complex. We contacted Roadway & they told me I needed a shuttle (cost over $200) to get my stuff in. I felt & told them it was their job to check the logistics before they sent that huge truck to see if it would fit. They had given me a list of things to ck which I did, but that was not one of them, so I felt I paid for door to door delivery, I'm not paying another dime, plus I had no more money at the time.  They told me no worries.They would rent the shuttle & I could pay them Monday when the bank opened.12 PM came, 3 PM,  6 PM. I called the driver who was very courteous & he told me they never got the shuttle for him & now he couldn't contact them. By 10PM I was furious, I called the driver, told him he could keep my stuff cause I had to go to work in the morning & I would see them in court, cause I realized they were not going to get a shuttle without me paying up front for it & I had no intentions of giving Road Way another dime. They did not do their home work. Finally the driver came back,& him & I figured how to get the truck into the complex. My stuff was delivered at 11PM. The driver & his helper were awesome, Roadway is greedy & wanted me to pay for there mistake.I would not use them again.
