the team was exceptional, they were able to coordinate a rental renovation project remotely, and executed the required work in two days which is a phenomenal turn around schedule... i feel confident knowing i have elite flooring on my side in philadelphia and will definitely be using them again for my investment properties in the city... their attention to detail and eye for aesthetics were a major plus!

    BNH Home Improvement
To Whom It May Concern: I would like to take this opportunity to warn future consumers about a Contracting business currently operating as BNH Construction NY or BNH Home Improvement, license # 1433553-DCA operating in the city of New York. Let me explain why I am taking this action. The owner of the company, Adam Chen will chase you and call you back until you sign the contract and give a deposit. After that, calls, emails and texts are completely ignored. When they finally show up to start the renovation, they send a crew that has no experience and is basically learning the job on your dime. I was told by their foreman, that they "fired" several of the workers because of the poor quality of their work. This after they had done a lot of work in my apartment. I was promised an English speaking worker every day and that was not the case. I had no way of communicating with the workers, as Mr. Chen seldom picked up his cell. There were different workers showing up daily who had no idea of where the project was and no knowledge of construction.Their work is shabby, messy, unprofessional and there is not one single thing that was done correctly in my home on the first try. They ruined the electric in a brand new fan, they scratched my brand new 50 inch Sony TV, the hardwood floor installation was a disaster with more scratches than straight lines, they installed my basin faucet crooked, chipped my brand new Quartz vanity top, had to repaint several walls since they were too lazy to clean their brushes in between colors, the tile floor in the bathroom had to be re-done twice, they broke a professional lighted makeup mirror, they hung a wall mount TV without painting the wall behind it. They had no regard for the few personal items that were left in my apartment. My clothing (which I had left protected with heavy plastic bags) was somehow covered with construction dust. My printer, small tv, cable boxes and routers were thrown around like garbage. They disappeared for weeks, even months at a time blaming it on the city, awaiting permits, while it actually was because their crew was sent to work on a different job. While I am discussing permits, I have waited since July, for the plumbing permit final inspection. I have called the DOB several times and they have no record of the inspection being requested. At the writing of this letter, it is May 31st. While there was a short delay due to lack of communication with my architect, I am living with an unworkable kitchen as a result of their permit issues. If you hire BNH be prepared for a 6 to 8 week job to last at least 12 months and a barrage of lies and excuses. If you are ok with a "crap job" these guys are for you. I am notifying the better business bureau and will file a complaint with the licensing division for contractors.I have photographs of many of the issues as proof of the quality of their workmanship. You will see how they left a radiator painted, floors missing grout, closet doors that don't close, floor molding installed crooked, cabinet hinges installed improperly, my stove still unconnected 1 year after the start of the work, door knobs glued on, no paint behind a wall mount tv and it goes on and on... Please note: there is no option for rotating photos, so please look closely

    D&L Hardwood Flooring
I bought a pre-war apartment that the previous owner had lived in for 30+ years, so the floors were in good condition underneath the surface, but in bad shape on top. I needed to get them done before I could move in, and Jason was incredibly responsive (I think he called me 5 minutes after I submitted a request for an estimate), and asked me to send photos of the floor boards so he could see what kind of wood they were. He could tell from iPhone pictures exactly what kind of wood they were, and that the floors were made up of different kinds. He and I had several talks about how to get the finish I wanted and what the pros and cons were, and he is impressively knowledgeable about his craft. It was a protracted process with the coop board, but he was very responsive along the way, and once we had the approval he sent a team out two days later. They were incredibly hard working, conscientious, and polite. The floors look completely transformed. For such a messy type of job, there was barely any trace of them after they left. I really had a nice experience, and have referred Jason and his team to friends already, as I know he'll do a great job for them.

    Floors by Jay Inc
I cannot recommend Jay highly enough. Jay was the second contractor to put flooring down in our apartment within 6 months. The first was a nightmare, and we were in dire need for a dependent contractor who would help steer us in the right direction. The first thing that separated Jay apart from the rest was his compassion. When we explained our situation, he recommended that he try to fix the floor first to save us some money - he was the only one we reached out to who even thought about this option. With a full rip and replace in order, Jay guided us through every step of the process, including selecting our floors. He was extremely helpful, transparent, and we felt comfortable from the start - he even came by to accept a curbside delivery and get the material into the apartment when we weren't home! The job was done quickly, and he always made sure we knew what was going on each step of the way. Additionally, knowing we were fully moved in, he did everything he needed to get the job done quickly. The end product was flawless and we could not be happier. He was extremely respectful of our apartment and belongings and completed the job without leaving even the slightest mark on anything - this is no small feat for a flooring job! He left us with all of the tools required to maintain our floor (cleaner, micro fiber mop, touch up pen, etc.) I will be recommending Jay to my friends and family, as well as enlisting his services on any future jobs - Jay is my top recommendation if you're looking for top notch quality and a contractor you can trust.

    Tully Spagnoli & Sons
I've been trying for 2.5 years, at least, to get a small section of hallway flooring replaced. Because it was a small job, it was very difficult to find a contractor willing to actually follow through on the work. I went down the road a bit with 4 or 5 separate contractors all of whom sounded enthusiastic at first, but all of whom at some point in the process just "ghosted" me by not showing up, refusing to answer phone calls or respond, etc. Then I found Tully Spagnoli & Sons, and I can't sing their praises enough. From the back office, to the supervisors, to the people doing the actual work, TSS was fantastic. Everyone I dealt with was responsive, professional, and competent. The quote I got was entirely reasonable fo the scope of work, and the job was done on time and on budget, with no unexpected surprises. And it looks fantastic. A section of flooring that has been soft, spongy and disintegrating for years now looks gorgeous and feels solid. I couldn't be happier. Anyone in the Tri-state area who has hardwood flooring needs should put Tully Spagnoli & Sons at the top of their list.

    Flawless Floors Kitchen N More
I was quickly contacted after requesting a quote. Ian and his company are on point on everything. They are excellent when it comes to communication all the way to the service provided. Ian and his assistant Cindy spoke to me about what I was requesting and Ian did deliver. I had the floors in 2 bedrooms, living and the hallway of my apartment redone. Ian set the quote price and reviewed everything that is going to be worked on with me before the actual work day. My family and I really love the way the floors came out also we were very impressed that he finished the work in 1 day. I have rehired Ian and his company again to start on another home project. Ian has earned my trust and respect for his craftsmanship.

    Euro Floors LLC
Please note that this is an additional review/update some 8 months after the work was completed and my previous review was submitted (my earlier review can be found below): In my initial review, I gave Euro Floors a glowing recommendation. Compared to my experience with other contractors in the past, I would still give Euro Floors an overall mostly positive review. Some eight (8) months after the work was finished, however, I have to say that I am very disappointed with the top layer of the coat or finished used by Euro Floors. Unlike the previous coat or finish, which did not peel / was not as temperamental or sensitive, the top coat or finish used by Euro Floors shows EVERY little ding or scratch. I am extremely careful with my floors, always take off my shoes outside of my unit, etc. to make my nice floors last for as long as possible. Despite the lengths to which I go and make my friends and family go when they visit, I cannot believe that it's been much less than a year since these floors were completely redone. And although the actual work Euro Floors did with my floors (solid American walnut floors, hand finished on site) still seems to last, the SUPER SENSITIVE top layer/coating already makes them look old and scratched up. I'm very disappointed and therefore changed by recommendation from "Would hire again" to "Would not hire again." (Old review, submitted on 07/27/2018:) I had a number of damaged (warped) floor planks in the bedroom that needed to be removed, replaced, and then the entire continuous floors in my apartment refinished so that they would match. For various reasons (that had nothing to do with Euro Floors), the process got delayed several times, but each time I needed an updated quote and/or additional information, Marcin was very quick to respond, providing answers to all of my questions (what products they would use for the various stages, what I could expect, pros and cons of different choices, etc.), as well as promptly produced the COI and other documentation that my building required. Once I had secured new floor planks (unfinished American walnut) from my original source, and Marcin and I had decided on a start date, he and his crew showed up promptly on time. I am personally extremely picky about how I want things done, and last time I had my floors finished I used a different company, which ended up being a nightmare. This is why I was concerned/nervous about what the experience would be like, but Marcin and his crew were very organized and careful, and did a great job -- and the floors look amazing. If I didn't know where the damaged floors were I wouldn't have been able to tell where the old and new floor planks meet. The crew also did everything in only a few days, and finished faster than I had anticipated. All in all, they replaced about 70sqf of floor planks (please see photos), and redid (sanding and refinishing) all of the solid, original floors (except for the bathroom), which probably amount to some 500sqf in total. Since I personally rely on reviews by others (this is how I found Euro Floors in the first place), I try to take the time to write reviews myself (whether it's good or bad). If somebody would ask whether I would hire them again, I'd say definitely yes. Description of Work: Damaged (warped) floor planks needed to get replaced and the entire floors refinished

    MyHome Design & Remodeling
I met with Ben and he helped me focus on what I could do with my space. He then helped me choose the cabinets, tiles and countertop, ensuring that everything would go together. I was able to review the plans and make adjustments. Ben also interfaced with the Property Manager, so that I didn't have to be a messenger between the two of them. Rafael was the project manager and he was on top of the work ensuring that materials were delivered on time and the work was kept on schedule. He also interfaced with the Building Manager saving me from being the middleman .As with all jobs, there were issues along the way but Rafael handled them to my satisfaction.

    Paul Lopa Designs Inc
Took the money and ABSCONDED. - I started work for my 700SF one bedroom in 2017. It's 2019 and the work is still unfinished. - I paid in excess of $100,000 to Paul to do the job. - Paul Lopa took the money and vanished. Multiple text messages and calls to him have all gone unanswered. - At this time, I am preparing to take him to court. - I am frankly surprised at the reviews he has received because they are completely contradictory to what I experienced - absolutely not a 5-star experience. - When he began work, every question was accompanied by an additional bill because 'it did not include the work specification'. - His sub contractors damaged the apt more than fixing it- tearing off the electrical panel cover, the kitchen light fixtures continuously fall off, the floors buckle [I am told it has to do with humidity, weird because the other renovated apartments in my bldg are perfectly fine], the kitchen sink pipes cracked after 9 months flooding the bathroom, the closets doors collapsed a few weeks after installation, the city inspections failed because the work was haphazardly done [If you think I may be biased, the failed city inspections should tell you a lot] - I had to call the appliance manufacturer to fix the gas lines because not only did Paul not respond to text and calls, I also lost trust in his work quality. All of the work is still pending.. - As an eg- His workers damaged the new closets because they wanted to leave early for a long weekend and I had asked them to finish it before they leave. A few mins later they called me back and showed me a brand new damaged door [ which I had unwrapped a few mins ago] and there was a gaping hole [Caused by a hammer]. - I ordered kitchen cabinets from Paul Lopa's own store 'Cabinet plant' that was delayed by over 2 months. They gave me every excuse from specialized templates to storms in the Atlantic and order stuck with customs. It was always someone else's fault. - By the time I had paid him over $100,000 with a remaining bal of $1,500. I told him that I would hold that amount until the job was completed. He immediately ceased all work for 2 weeks until I paid the final $1,500, soon after he absconded. - My apartment still has open permits, unfinished work and various damages with no response from Paul Lopa. - [He did show up a few weeks ago and sent his contractor to 'clean up' some work for a day, but has absconded again].

    Metropolitan Painting & Contracting
Kenny and the team from Metro took our 2BR co-op in Union Square, NYC down to the studs and completely renovated it. We hired Kenny after seeing the quality of his work at a friends apt. Not only did he bring the same level of quality to our home, but exceeded our expectations in every way. Communication was incredible at every level of the Metro team and they completed the project on time (on an aggressive schedule - we started demo in December and moved in mid March) and on budget. As an example of the level of service and the commitment to its customers, Metro came back a year after completing the renovation to wallpaper the nursery when we found out we were having a girl! I have recommended Metropolitan Painting & Contracting to friends (typically upon request after seeing our apt!) and couldn't be happier to do so here on Angies List.
