    AV Appliance Service
Responsive and responsible. Owner is Robert, his father Victor serviced our old Whirlpool-- he "grew up" with the older appliances. Fantastic outcome, he knew immediately--checked the two options he considered might be the problem and within an hour, all was working 100%. Very thorough, respectful of the surroundings, cleaned behind the stackable washer/dryer of old lint/dust, and altogether straightforward. Terrific and honest. Not inexpensive, but didn't take me for a ride either. That's worth a lot!

    Allbrand Appliance Repair
They called me about half an hour after I filled out the form on Angie's list. They were about 2 hours late, but that's OK--they came out that day. The did replace the fan, but they charged $225, which is way too much for that. However, they didn't do it right, so it was SO loud! I could hear it in the next room. I thought maybe it was just to get back to temperature, but after a couple of days, it was still that loud. I called back. They sent out a 2nd technician who said the first technician installed a fan off the truck, so I would need a factory fan and a dehydrator to reduce the noise. They said they would call me when they had the parts and I would ahve to pay for those parts. Then earlier this week someone called me to make an appointment. (This was a different company, but I didn't realize that!) So this guy was totally nice and with 20 minutes he was able reinstall the fan, but it wasn't till he gave me the bill that I realized the 3rd guy wasn't with the same company. He only charged me $80--said the fan hadn't been installed correctly. Called the first company back. They yelled at me, said I was stupid, told me to post a negative review and hung up on me.

Very well. Robert also looked at the stove and determined that the ignition did not actually need fixing. He gave advice on other projects and indicated that they were not within his scope of work. Will use him again for plumbing work.

Robert was very professional, responsive and punctual in getting this repair done. Clearly explained what the issue was and the steps to repair it. Even set up a Saturday appointment in order to expedite the repair without charging extra for weekend work. Very reasonable rates. Would definitely call on Robert again for other work.

Tussy showed up promptly and did excellent work in repairing my dishwasher. The drain pump was the issue, and rather than immediately ordering a new one (and charging more for parts & additional labor), was able to perform a smart fix on the spot. Back and running same day. Thanks!

    Belgrove Appliance Inc
When we bought our apartment 30+ years ago, it came with a Crown double oven/range. It was in good condition and we decided to keep it. At some point we needed a part and got on touch with Carlita (aka "Stove Lady") From that point on she has been our go-to person for all our parts/repair needs. She also did a refurbishment to make it not only perform better, but look better also. All this was done in a most timely and professional fashion. Most recently, Carlita was extremely helpful and went out of her way to help me with a small issue. I would unequivocally recommend Carlita and Belgrove Appliances.

    STANDARD REFRIGERATORS INC
If we could give this place 0 stars it would not be sufficient. Dishonest unreliable poor service and to top it off disrespectful. Be very careful for your business especially if you have a restaurant do not trust this company. They were supposed to come in for warranty to work on a refrigerator didn't do any of the work on the warranty work that was supposed to be completed. They then just evaluated other equipment to fix and gave a quote 10k to fix other equipment without completing the actual work we asked them to come in for. Jeff Baker was the service person and Mike Newman one of the owners are not people to do business with

Sometimes parts were no longer available for older models. He finds alternatives that work. Sometimes, he will tell you that your ac has seen better days. Time for a ne one.. he doesnt like to waste money so if he can he will fix but will also give and honest evaluation.

    Mr. Appliance of NYC
Totally incompetent work. I had a dryer that was making noises and the drum wasn't turning properly. They came and diagnosed it as a major problem (expensive to fix-2 men for 2 hours each for labor) and required a large deposit before ordering the parts they said we needed. Then we waited and waited for them to return. They finally did and supposedly fixed it. It still made noises and 3-1/2 months later it stopped working. We called but they said their warranty was only 3 months. I visited their office to complain and they said they would send someone over. They came and saw it was a broken belt (which they had replaced but the broken belt didn't look like it was only 3 months old). They left the broken belt with us and said we'd get an e-mail from them. Of course, we didn't hear from them. I ordered a new belt ($16) and an accompanying pulley wheel ($10) in case the one they had supposedly replaced hadnt been replaced. Our apartment building handyman replaced the belt and accompanying pulley wheel in @1-1/2 hours (less than half the time I was charged for). Not only do I question their competence, I also question their honesty.

I called a different company, who came and told me I needed a new compressor ($2500) and possibly a new evaporator ($1000 additional if I did the compressor.) I decided to see if this price was standard, and called AV Appliance. They quoted $1600 for the compressor, and an additional $400 if I needed an evaporator, a savings of $1500. I told them to order the parts but they wanted to check the freezer out themselves. First interesting news, my compressor was fine, according to Victor. I needed freon. An infusion of freon worked for a day, and then it warmed up. He returned and found a leak in a pipe that could be circumvented, but the system also had to be vacuumed out as the leak contaminated the system. I saw evidence of the leak, and my super confirmed this that contamination was a big deal. This vacuuming was done twice, once by Victor, once by Robert. Each time it chilled, then cooled. Victor was daunted but Robert returned, disassembled the freezer, and said the only thing left was the ancient aluminum coils. The cost to replace was $1600, but he would deduct what I paid for the original freon. He ordered a replacement, installed the new coils, and the freezer is working again! He deducted what I paid originally, so the total was $1600. I am impressed by their determination to solve the problem, and the fact that after the original bill, no more money was paid until they solved the problem. I would definitely use them again!!! Happy to have avoided a new Subzero to fit the builtins at $12,000!
