  • I looked for help on Angie's List and Natl Temperature Control was among the first to respond. A tech came out quickly, took his time trying to diagnose the problem, and finally concluded it was the capacitor. I have felt all along that it's the thermostat, but he didn't check that. My reason is that for a few months now sometimes I'd have to flip the thermostat back and forth before the compressor would kick on. But he dismissed what I said, and $215 lafer, he was on his way. The air seemed to feel cooler for a short while, then the unit stopped cooling unless I fooled with thermostat. I was preparing to leave for a three week trip two days later, and had no time to follow up. As soon as I returned, I calledNational Temperature Control to tell them capacitor did not work, and a different guy came out. That was on Friday, Nov. 22. He went outside for five minutes, came back in, and said I needed a new $2K compressor. Again dismissed my idea about the thermostat and diconnected fuses at unit. No explanation as to why it could not be the thermostst. Personally, my approach to problem solving is to start with the simplest solutions first, and work your way up. Anyway, another Monday has come and gone, and I have yet to hear back. I did call yesterday, but the woman who answered gave me some jibber jabber and hung up. The unit is 10-years-old. Perhaps some things are starting to break down, but before I put out $2,000, plus the $215 I paid already, I want a **** good explanation! And Ibwould still like someone to check my thermostat! I didcontact another compan last Tuesday, BARCIA'S, and have yet to receive a reply, even though I see their truck driving through mynneighborhood frquently. Thank God it's not August! As it is, some days are still warm, and some night I freeze to death. Not fond of space heaters.

  • Mr. Jones came out to check on the problem within two hours of my call. After diagnosing it as unsalvageable, he said he'd have a replacement estimate later that day, which he did. He was able to schedule a return visit and complete the work within 48 hours of receipt of the estimate. Mr. Jones and his assistant were very hard working, professional and paid close attention to detail of the installation. They very obviously know what they're doing. He estimated it would take 10 to 12 hours and was able to complete the work within that timeframe. He honored the Angie's List 10 percent off coupon, when paying with cash, and also offered a financing option if needed.

  • Mr. Jones is very knowledgeable and professional. He identified how my AC unit was improperly connected and made the necessary fixes to get it up to code. Several weeks after the repair, I had an unrelated issue (a water stain on a ceiling); Mr. Jones patiently walked me through the possible culprits until he determined that I likely had a roof leak. He is ideally suited for a job that he clearly loves: he's trustworthy, intelligent, and clear.

  • Everything went well. Justin got our unit running until the unit could be replaced. Greg spent a lot of time accessing what the problems were and how to resolve them. He gave us proposals to consider. Once we made a decision, the day and time was set up to complete the work. The installers/technicians arrived as expected and worked over 2 days to complete the job. They cleaned up when they finished and explained how to operate the system before leaving. Price was a sticker shock but we realized it is the cost of replacing a system that has been in place for 25 years. Our home is much cooler then it has ever been. Hopefully we will see a difference in our electric bill soon. While protecting the floor in our foyer, the cardboard they put in place dislodged the weather stripping on the bottom of our front door. We were told someone will come fix this. Hopefully this will happen soon. Other than that, we are very satisfied with our experience with National Air.

Even when we decided to resolve the situation in a different way, Mr. Jones did not charge us for time and advice. I don't think I have ever had a service person not charge for their time.   • If you live in New Orleans and your AC is not working you need it fixed quickly. A1 Cold Air Now responded to my phone call and was at my place in a few hours. They arrived when promised and fixed my AC. It needed a lot of Freon. Professional and competent! I’ve used them once before and will continue to call them.

  • We had used A1 Cold Air NOW! for basic repairs and the replacement of an air conditioning unit before and always felt like the work was done promptly, super-professionally, and at a reasonable price. Thomas keeps up with his field better than any professional I know, is always concerned with safety, and offers a range of options. Then last winter, when it was brutally cold our entire HVAC system went out. It had been improperly installed and so Thomas had to reinstall and do some better engineering, including reconstruction of the intake duct, new copper piping and more. He did it all while we were out of town so we didn't have to suffer in a freezing house. And since then the house has never been warmer in the winter or cooler in the summer. There are probably cheaper places out there, but if you want competence, professionalism, and dedication, this is the man for you.

  • Our central air system was limping along and because it was too old for modern coolants and was starting to need way too much TLC, we thought it time to get an entirely new system. Not only did Cold Air Now! offer the best bid, they caught problems nobody else did--like the fact that the square footage figure on our house plans was WAY off and that we've had underpowered AC for 20+ years, not to mention that our previous installation did not meet code! Thomas Jones is a pro through and through. He is more an AC scientist or engineer than just a tech. He approached the task carefully and methodically, then expertly specified several different solutions before coming up with a system that not only exceeded other dealers' specs, but beat their prices! He personally saw to the most significant details of the installation and he and his helper were always polite, courteous and knowledgeable. Now we have a quiet, cool central air system, thanks to Cold Air Now! Kudos, Tom!
