Counseling & Mental Health reviews in New Orleans

  • Dr. Brothers is the most compassionate person I have ever met. He spends quality time and gives you the time needed. He is confrontational when needed but in a caring way. He is genuine and helpful.

  • She's excellent. I would highly recommend her to folks. I've been going to her for maybe a month. There are a number of licensed counselors there and they operate individually. It's a low key, old school operation. It's nice.
    - Laura H.
  • It went very well. Dr Waterman was on time and shared with us some immediate steps we could take to help the communication within the family unit. We are still seeing him and hope to further work on our challenges.

  • I've seen Dr. Arriaga, and I've seen his physical therapist Carrie.
All the doctors before Dr. Arriaga would tell me, you have Meniere's disease, and that was it.
Dr. Arriaga suggested diet changes, he's had me go to his great physical therapist Carrie, and since other treatments did not clear up all of my problems, he is going to do a minor surgical procedure to help with my inner ear.
I must add that I am already doing better just from doing the physical therapy with Carrie, it really made a difference for the issues with losing my balance. The minor procedure is for the fact that I still sometimes get vertigo episodes.
Dr. Arriaga is also an LSU professor, and I'm very glad he is out there teaching other doctors. We need more doctors like him!

  • ,I still see Dr. Dammers about every three months, sooner if I feel that I need to. You have to be completely honest with him in order for him to be able to help you. You have to lower the mask, expose and discuss honestly your issues or he cannot help you. Just lower your mask and let him know what is going on inside. Good doctor and gets better the longer you see him and the better he gets to know you.

  • He is more of a parent type age. He is very soft spoken and very kind that all to me is more comforting than somebody who is more exuberant. He makes me more comfortable because he is low key and he listens to you. He asks you appropriate questions. He answers your questions. He got me on the right dose and right drug and everything was working well. My father died in November and both of my dogs died and those were the people who loved me unconditionally and it affected me more than expected. When the dogs were gone, it was like I was left with no one and that is when I was seeing him more. I am happy with the treatment and it has been effective. After the hurricane, the mental health was not good for a lot of people and availability of doctors was zero and I called and he was able to take me.

  • I am just a patient to him and not a person. He was feeding me different medications and doping me up with trying different medications. He would put me on a different medication every time I would see him. My moods would change, and my whole life was turning upside down. He was doping me up on drugs that were costing me a fortune. I didn’t have insurance and was paying for everything with cash. I told him that it was too expensive and I couldn’t afford it, but he just really didn’t care. I think that all he was there for was the money. He never understood that I didn’t have the money but I had a problem. The atmosphere there was nice, and the secretary was nice. He was on time. I think he is too old to be practicing. I would not recommend him.

  • I am very anxious because I have four girls and my youngest went to Afghanistan. I'm disabled and I have chronic pain and I have been seeing him for close to twenty years. He is pleasant, very low key, and thorough. I got my dad to go see him and my father has been very happy with him too. He got ranked as one of the top ten doctors in New Orleans. His office staff changes often but he is a great psychiatrist.
    - Lisa M.
  • His staff is very friendly, very pleasant about each patient’s business and is very private with each patient’s business. They won’t over book patients. Everybody in the building knows what’s going on.
    - Sallie A.
  • She is great. I can say that I’m more or less like a friend to her. She is patient and she is always looking for different methods to help me with my problem. As my PTSD treatment is an ongoing thing, I would be using her in future.
