    Scheduling the appointment was a little more difficult than it should have been--the office seemed poorly informed about the Angie's List offer and not very helpful in responding to me as a purchaser of the offer. Once the appointment was scheduled, though, the office's communications were timely and helpful. The inspection and cleaning of the gas logs was quickly done. I was surprised to learn that our gas fireplace logs are not rated for the firebox we have, but the technician supplied the documentation to support that bad news. He even emailed the pdfs from the company making the firebox and the company making the gas logs to support the incompatibility.

    We had a technician come out and he said it was the valve in the insert that needed to be replaced. The part was around $400 so he advised just getting a new gas insert since they start around $650 new and our current one was old with fiber logs which has an odor when burning apparently. He suggested getting a ceramic log insert instead.
    Following his advise, we purchased a new gas insert with ceramic logs for around $750. After I installed it, I was having the same problem - logs would light up then go out (repeating). I called Hearth & Grill and was directed to Steve who is in charge of the service department. Steve readily listened to the issue and scheduled to send out their lead service representative the following week. After the lead rep arrived, he quickly diagnosed the problem was the gas line to the fire place had a leak - there was water in the pipe meaning there was a leak in the line running outside to the gas and therefore that was why it wasn't properly lighting the insert. A gas new line would need to be run in order to use any sort of gas insert because it's merely impossible to find the exact leak. Therefore, we didn't need to buy the new insert as advised previously and Steve agreed to let us return it. Very professional company to quickly resolve their rep's error. I understand mistakes are some times made but I'm glad the company listened and we didn't need to get in a heated discussion to resolve the issue unlike you may have to with another company.

    Another provider had promised service with a week-long delay, then canceled last-second, then forgot we were even scheduled when we called to re-schedule and said it would be another week, so we called Air Comfort. They were very helpful and made an appointment for the very next morning.
    After the service technician finally found the house (he keyed in the address slightly wrong and ended up on the other side of town by accident), he was clear on what the parts were and was knowledgeable about the assembly in general, but was not certain of the best way to go with the problem since they didn't stock the parts for the gas fireplace and would have to order them, wait for them to come in, then return.
    I suggested that the pilot light may be blocked and that the two sensors looked corroded and that he clean them and see if that fixed the problem. He went to work and diligently did as I asked and lo and behold, it worked. I imagine in the future it will need a new thermopile and pilot assembly, but this gives me time to order parts and have them on hand for when it goes out again in the future and, when it does, we will certainly call Air Comfort to replace them.

    Even though I was unable to have a remote starter installed, it was an excellent experience. Dave was patient with my questions and fully answered each. He also gave me instructions on how to properly start the gas fireplace. I was reassured that all was functioning very well and now I am comfortable in using my fireplace.
