  • Okay, first I'd like to say that my husband and I simply cannot say enough wonderful things about the job Provider name locked. and his team have done for us. His demeanor from start to finish was incredible, and the work speaks for itself. With that being said, I'd like to share our full story so you can get an idea of exactly the kind of businessman Provider name locked. is and the pride he takes in his work.
To start, we met with three other total contractors in addition to Provider name locked. as we like to weigh our options, both for character and cost. Our first encounter went well...the gentleman really seemed to know his stuff, but his price was way out of our range. He also struck me as a little presumptuous, as though he just expected the job and thought we shouldn't bother talking with anyone else. I will admit, for me personally, that's a bit of a turnoff.  I prefer someone who is not only good at what he does and knows it, but is eager to work with us to create a beautifully finished product without just assuming he deserves the work upfront.
Our second encounter also went well, though the gentleman didn't have the same depth of experience as the first person we met, he still seemed knowledgeable and as though he'd work with us.  And his price was definitely much more reasonable. However, after several attempts to meet with him again to discuss the project more in depth, we finally gave up as he seemed to just stop caring about wanting to do the job at all...as though he was just too busy and it wouldn't be worth his time.
At that point we contacted two more companies, one that literally took measurements in 5 minutes, asked us no questions about the project, went on his way and said his company would get back to us with an estimate...and then we never even heard from them again.  Nice... (sarcasm!)
And then there was Provider name locked. . He spent about an hour with us the very first time.  We could tell he was listening to everything we said.  He offered helpful insights and advice, made suggestions, discussed details and logistics with us, explained everything VERY thoroughly, and we could tell that not only did he know his stuff but he genuinely cared about his work and wanted to make sure it was done right - both by city codes and by his own personal work ethic code.  His price came back a little higher than our initial budget, but he was still within our overall range and we absolutely felt such confidence with him that it wasn't even a question to hire him for the job.
Now, here's a step by step break down of our experience with his actual work.  I hope anyone reading this will find it helpful!
    1) The deck - We had a 20+ year old 10' x 10' deck. The wood was splitting and breaking. Nails kept popping up everywhere. We didn't feel safe on it at all, and even our dogs weren't crazy about going up and down those steps. We had decided to put a pool in our backyard and wanted to go ahead and revamp the deck and patio area as well.  Provider name locked. took down the old deck, being very careful not to damage our existing patio, the siding on the house or the hot tub sitting beneath the deck on part of our current patio. The new deck went up quickly. The wood he picked was beautiful - a lovely color, no big knots or cracks...very nicely selected. He did everything by code, from getting our permits to the actual construction. He recommended the best way to position our stairs, and even went out of his way to meet and work with our pool contractor on exactly how the posts and stairs should be done so that our pool guy could pour his concrete patio area and build his concrete stairs off the deck stairs. Provider name locked. offered us options on things like the stair lighting, which we'd requested, and upgraded iron spindles. Even though we knew these items increased the initial cost of the project, it was our idea to upgrade, and he accommodated everything we requested at the most reasonable price available. Plus, he never pushed us on any decision...it was all our choice and we never felt uncomfortable telling him what we liked and what we didn't.
    2) Lighting - Under the deck is an existing concrete slab where our hot tub currently sits. Our plan since we were extending the deck another 12 feet was to then have our pool contractor pour a new concrete slab under the full length of the deck so we could move the hot tub down and use the existing area for additional seating. There were no other lights outside besides the generic one by the back door.  Provider name locked. recommend some lighting options, allowing us to choose our preference, and was upfront about the cost to do everything. We even asked if we could have the new lights put on dimmer switches so we could control the light levels. He had to temporarily remove siding from the house and drill inside with his electrician to run the wiring, and they did a seamless job. They also installed an outlet outside for us as we currently didn't have one under the deck area.
    3) Roofing system - Provider name locked. arranged to get a 'dry space' system for us that essentially runs under the deck and has Provider name locked. gutters at the Provider name locked. to catch and drain away water to keep the patio area underneath dry. It took a little longer to get this part done due to the materials being harder to find, and then the weather not cooperating thanks to weeks of ice and snow, but he was persistent and was able to get the system installed within our budgeted price, and before our pool contractor had to start his part of the project. We even had a natural gas line that was built out from the house 20+ years ago, but it only extended about a foot so any grill hooked up to it had to be positioned right next to the house, which had done some damage to the siding over the years.  So, we wanted the grill to go on the opposite side of the deck and Provider name locked. kindly ran an extension for the gas line, bringing it up through the new deck floor exactly where we wanted it.  And the dry space system covers the new line so you can't even tell it's there from underneath.  The dry space looks great, and he even installed it under the new stairs so you can't see the underneath of the steps or the wiring from the lighting system he installed.  We didn't even realize he was going to do this so it was a very nice surprise!  Then they installed the gutters, which transition with the dry space nicely and run off the end so that they are barely noticeable.  They even left extra so that our pool contractor could use the gutters they ran to then extend and flow under the construction of the new pool!
Provider name locked. was so responsive, calling us often to explain details, ask questions as needed, go over timeframes and expectations, etc.  My husband and I would absolutely recommend Provider name locked. to anyone looking for a dedicated and talented craftsman.  It was such a pleasure working with him.  Our pool contractor even told us that he was so impressed by Provider name locked. 's process and craftsmanship that he planned to recommend him to other clients moving forward.  We are so happy with our decision!
Oh, and to top it off, Provider name locked. even asked us to call him in a couple of months when the pool construction is finished as he wants to come back out and pressure wash the deck for us so we can stain it whenever we're ready.  That, my friends, is above and beyond.  Thank you Provider name locked. for everything!!!!  :)
I would love to share photos but I didn't see a place in the review process to upload pics...but if anyone wishes to see pictures please feel free to email me and I'd be happy to share!

  • No porch was ever begun.  they gave excuse after excuse for not starting the project and when they finally showed up they were unprofessional, rude, and belligerent. They were fired after 4 months of waiting and now they are refusing to give back our refund.

  • I began my project with one idea and ended with something different. Much collaboration and feedback let to a better plan. Changes that were actually better for me. Provider name locked. 's attention to detail is amazing. He truly aims to please!
