The caulking on our Winnebago began to look suspect.  When we went to our Winnebago Shop, they felt they were pretty busy, and they didn't feel any expertise was required, so they recommended Plan B; that we do it ourselves, and get our caulk at a lumber yard.  When I mentioned that the Winnebago manual seemed pretty specific about what caulk to use where, the Winnebago Shop didn't seem to think it needed to be that complicated.  So we followed the Shop?s advice, and caulked the suspect areas with the caulk the lumber yard salesman told us to use.  Unfortunately, it didn't weather well, we Gorilla-taped in the interim, and we began to look for an RV shop that knew caulking.   In the meantime, the list of issues with our Winnebago Shop was growing in other areas as well, and we began to ?defer? all issues, that could be deferred, while we accelerated our search, for an RV shop we could count on. Of the RV shops we checked out, Hilltop seemed to know the most about RV caulking.  Hilltop parts had a broad selection of RV caulk, and clearly explained where to use each type of caulk.  As it turns out, there's a lot more to caulking than our Winnebago Shop appeared to be aware of.  For example, the caulking we were told to use at the lumber yard, reacted with the original Winnebago caulk, which is why it wasn't weathering well.  In the end, rather than buy caulk from Hilltop, we decided to bring our RV into Hilltop, and have RV Caulking Experts, check out our situation.  That was Plan A in the beginning, and it turned out to be a good plan. As Hilltop began to inspect the caulking on our RV, they kept us abreast of their approach, and their findings.  In our case, they recommended starting off with a full set of diagnostics.  The diagnostics were accomplished by lightly pressurizing the entire shell, and then bubble testing the exterior, to pinpoint all the leaks.  That?s how they discovered that the skylight was cracked; it wasn?t visually obvious.  As Hilltop was keeping us abreast of their findings, and recommendations, we began to query Hilltop about our ?deferred? issues.  As Hilltop responded to each additional query, their overall RV expertise became crystal clear, and we moved our list of "deferred? issues to our Hilltop work order. Our backlog of ?deferred? issues is behind us, and we know where to go in the future.

This is our second major service expenditure at Hilltop, and this proved to be a good investment, as well.  Hilltop is exceptional at diagnosing the issues we describe, and providing effective solutions.  1. The CO sensor didn?t indicate during their testing, a new OEM sensor was $200, and the real problem could be certain wind conditions.  So, by Hilltop?s recommendation, we got a countertop CO sensor, with digital display, from the hardware store.  If we get another indication, the digital display will not only give us the actual CO level, but redundancy as well, for only $35. 2. The sideswiped area, about 15 feet long, looks as good as new. 3. Rear view camera conversion was well done. 4. Hilltop recognized that the slide was poorly aligned, corrected the misalignment, and replaced the seals damaged by the misalignment.  The slide finally pulls in square, and the seal compression looks balanced. 5. Hilltop touched up the paint on the bottom edges, and applied film strips.  Well done.

    Imperial Campers
Excellent---Imperial Campers of Newport is an outstanding company--the customer service was exemplarily.  Everyone from the manager to the service desk employee to the mechanic's that worked on my camper were exceptional people. Imperial Campers provided warranty work that they could have very easily just said no, we can't or won't do it. Instead they fit me in during a very busy day, completed the work in a short period of time, and possibly wrote off some of the normal costs that is passed on to customers. All I can say is Imperial Campers of Newport is one of the companies I will do business with in the future and they should be rewarded for there service to the community.

I bought a camper from them in 2006 and I used it and then had to have back surgery.  I had it stored at Hilltop and asked them to sell it for me on consignment.  They did a superb job, they sold it in a week.  They sold it for what they said.  All I had to do was go over and sign the papers.  I couldn’t have worked with a better company. The sales person I bought the camper from was the same person that sold it at the camper show. No place else I would

    Hilltop Trailer Sales
When looking online for a place to buy a pop-up camper, I came across Hilltop Trailers. They had the best selection in the area (and frankly, the best website). I requested a brochure online and received an email from a sales rep (Derek) offering to answer any questions I had. I decided to go in to take a look at the campers in person to figure out which floor plan looked best. Every question I emailed the rep was promptly answered. When I showed up in person, he showed me several floor models, and when I picked out the one I liked best, he showed me how easy it was to put it up and put it down again (this had been one of my main concerns about a pop-up, whether I could do this myself). In the end, I decided to buy the pop-up. I compared the price with the exact model and features on rvdirect.com, and I got a better price than they offered (plus I didn't have to drive to Des Moines). Plus, since I purchased through Hilltop, I get 10% off anything I order from their store (they have a lot of accessories and parts for sale). I also got a free battery and tank of propane. They are a family business that has existed since 1951. Even though my rep was young, he was very knowledgeable - his previous position at this company was giving the 2-hour demo every buyer gets before they drive their camper off the lot. Financing was a cinch, too. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for an RV!

    BRAMBILLAS RV
Our RV's generator and switching relay failed while we were on a trip. I called and set up a service appointment with service manager Mike Sandgren while we were still out of state. When the generator assembly was removed from the RV, it was obvious that something in the engine had experienced a catastrophic failure. Mike contacted the warranty company and opened a claim with them. Since this was a repair greater than $1000, independent inspectors had to examine the Onan's engine, which they did and the warranty company agreed to pay. Mike ordered parts right away, when the engine arrived, it was discovered that the generator's rotor had also failed, so he contacted the warranty folks and got parts ordered as well. Mike and his Tech staff did a great job keeping us informed about what parts had failed and when repairs would be completed. I picked the RV up today and repairs were done to my satisfaction. The coach was returned to me in good order.

    HITCH IT
We were packed up and ready to leave for a week of camping and as backing out of driveway noticed the left rear brake light and blinker were not working on the travel trailer. I called the RV dealer we bought the trailer from and was put on hold for 15 minutes when I gave up. Called 2 hitch places in my area, both were out of business. Minutes and hours are ticking by and cutting into our vacation time. My husband found Hitch It on the internet and they were on our way out of town so called to see if we could get a repair and be on our way. The gentleman (sorry, can't remember his name) that answered the phone said he was very busy and running behind. I told him what was going on and was there somewhere else in the area that could help us, we just wanted to make our reservation that night. He told me to come in and he would squeeze us in. When we arrived I noticed the time he told us to be there was his lunchtime. He also thought it would only be a 5 minute job, and it turned out to be a bigger problem than he expected......so that threw him further behind in his day. He didn't complain about it, but I knew that's what was happening and felt awful about it. He fixed our problem and got us going on our way. He was so helpful, friendly, courteous and knowledgeable. He saved the day and I am very grateful for his time and helpfullness.
