  • Mom didn't want anyone in her home caring for her even though she was 95 and was recovering from a small stroke that left her unable to drive and get to see my dad in a nursing home. She was a very independent old Swede. The health Provider name locked. assigned to her was very helpful and caring, but the combination just didn't work too well. That and the expense made this a tough assignment for all involved. We finally cut hours and then cut all together because of expense and mom's determination to live alone with family support. It all came to a crashing halt when mom developed pneumonia again, my dad died, she broke her hip, and her main care giver, her daughter was out of state for 6 months. Mom then was diagnosed with cancer and lived with hospice in her own home of 70 years till her death with the help of family and another care giver. Hope those reading this will benefit. This is a hard, hard thing to do and maintain for any length of time. My comments on price are not intended to be against Home Watch pricing, but to show how impossible it is to pay for long term care. Home Watch was comparable with others and even lower than some.

  • For the most part it went well however I did not feel that Homewatch's caregivers were appropriately trained to deal with persons with dementia. I went through 3 caregivers in about a month and a half, each left because they couldn't handle some of my mom's behavior. The RN who was our case manager did a good job of working with us to try to help Mom. She recommended medication which we talked to Mom's doctor about and she later prescribed.

  • The aides are well trained in the special care of persons with dementia. The company is very responsive to our needs and the staff are so helpful and professional. The nurses who frequently visit with Mom are excellent and caring. All in all they have been a wonderful agency to work with. They have several services that were appropriate for our needs including but not limited to the Good Morning Package which helped get Mom up and ready for her day program.
