Sunrooms And Patio reviews in Milwaukee

  • We had Paul come out and give us a new quote on a sunroom. He was very nice and knowledgeable. He spent 2.5 hours looking at our space and giving us the whole sales pitch. We had him quote us what we thought was a standard 144 square foot sunroom to replace an existing one off the side of our deck. A normal shingled roof with one skylight window non-opening and a sliding glass door out onto our deck. Everything was good until he wrote the price down. $52,000! My wife and I couldn't believe it. We asked did you write the number down wrong? I feel he failed to do his homework and adapt a solution that would fit within our budget. Maybe they don't have anything they can do for much less money? But, if he would have looked at our current home value he would know that a $52,000 sunroom makes no financial sense from a resale point of view. We would never get that money back. The kicker was that his price didn't include the electrical cost to wire up the heating and cooling unit or any flooring. So it would have been closer to $55,000. For a house worth about $245,000 current market value, and in a neighborhood where the median home value is around $200k it makes no financial sense. We'd never get that return back. On top of that he told us if we wanted to do a laminate floor ourselves we could save a lot of money and it would be around $200 to $300. Seriously? He is recommending we DIY a $300 laminate floor in a sunroom that costs $52,000? He lost all credibility when he wrote his big number down. What is also telling, is he told us about the HVAC wall unit they install from Amana. He told us it's $3500 we looked up these units online and they are between $800 - $1000. Now I understand a little bit of a markup since they are providing it, but not $3500 for something I could order online for $800. This shows how much these guys pad their bids with profit. It was a total waste of our evening. I'm sure they do great work and build really nice sunrooms, but for what they charge they should be focusing on $500,000 homes and above. If our standard 144 square foot sunroom cost $52,000, I can't image what some of their larger/more elaborate designs go for. I would have respected them much more if they would have told us over the phone that their starter sunrooms cost around $50k. Instead they get you invested in the project with their 2.5 hour sales pitch, because if you knew the price upfront you would never agree to meet with them. But when they have it all designed and show you a computer model, they get you all excited about it and want you to make a quick decision. This is apparent when they knock $5k off the price tag if you agree to project that night. Talk about high pressure sales tactics. I like contractors to come over look at the project and spend no more than an hour and give me a bid and don't force me to make any quick decision. Don't waste your time with these guys unless money is no object and you don't mind overpaying for everything.

  • They were very thorough, very attentive, very good. They were very knowledgeable. We decided to not do any more work on that house and we moved. I think they're a little high-priced, but it might be worth it.

  • They are mostly interested in money. They did things we asked them not do and didn't do other things we wanted done.  We are having insulation problems now that we will need to pay to adjust.  They were very difficult to get a hold of and weren't happy about coming to service issues they caused.

  • Our house was flipped in 2012 and we purchased the home in early 2013.  The flipper used Pinnacle as their contractor and they added a new addition upstairs which included a brand new bathroom.  It was shocking to us when we noticed water damage in our kitchen downstairs which is directly below the bathroom.  After calling the insurance company they opened everything up and saw what extensive damage was caused by a terrible install of the tile shower. They said it was one of the worst installs they have ever seen.  It caused water damage to our entire kitchen ceiling, our entire upstairs show had to be ripped out, and they said there was mold growth everywhere.
Thank goodness our insurance company was good to work with. I highly suggest anyone think twice before using this contractor.

  • I would give him an A- only because of some very minor cosmetic details such as an uneven application of tar around the chimney. This was so minor that I did not even contact him about it post repair.

  • They went above and beyond with this job. While removing the old porch on our 115 year old house, the crew discovered some serious problems with the porch roof. They took down everything that was bad and made it right. They didn't hide anything, they took no shortcuts, and they rebuilt everything properly. The entire crew was exeperienced, highly skilled, and always left a clean job site at the end of the day. No stone was left unturned and we ended up with a beautiful brand new front porch. The master carpenter on the project impressed me with his skills and serious approach towards the work. Even with a 2 day delay due to the roof problems and 3 rainouts, the project was still completed in 2 weeks.

  • Kevin was super nice and down to earth.
He did NOT take advantage of us.
He came to look at our sunroom to see what solution he could give us.  We have water coming in from an unknown place.
Since he didn't have the exact answer we really appreciated that he didn't just say "well you have to rip it all up...and that will be $10,000 mam"
If we need him again we'll call because he seems very honest.

  • They're very, very professional and the quality of their work is great. The prices are competitive compared to other estimates we've gotten. We are definitely satisfied with their work and would not hesitate to use them again if we need to.

  • Our addition was finished in 3 months, on time and on budget!
We chose Amethyst because they had done the remodeling for the previous owners of our house.  After living in the house for 2 years, we are so impressed with the quality and thought behind the home's new details.  So we wanted to use the same company.
Kristi worked quickly and smoothly with the city officials in Whitefish Bay to secure the permits.  The work crew was a small group of responsible and talented people, whom we felt completely comfortable with in our home.  We even left on vacation for a month with them working away!  I had a few significant changes along the way which they stopped and incorporated, which was very impressive.
I can't believe we didn't do the addition sooner -- we had put it off thinking it would just take longer, cost more, and turn into a nightmare like some stories we hear.  Instead we have a lovely addition that feels like it was always part of the home.  Kristi was a pleasure to work with, and I don't know how she runs the whole show, but she does!
    Thanks Amethyst!

  • In the process of selling my house, a house inspection revealed some work needed to be done on my chimney flashing. Scott Bear had been the contractor for the roof work in 2004, although he now specializes in sunrooms. I called his number and left a message about the inspection findings. He returned my call promptly and said "We'll take care of it."  That evening, he sent a worker by to look at the chimney, and the next day a work crew of two returned to repair the flashing.  In addition, they noticed some caulking that needed to be done on another roof vent, which the house inspection had not mentioned.  They took care of this as well. The work was completed at no charge to me.  It was a pleasure to find someone is still in business almost eight years later, and a double pleasure to see how well they stand by their work. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again for any work needing to be done.
