    AROUND THE CLOCK GAS SERVICE
    Upon suspecting a gas leak around the area of our built-in, natural gas grill on the back patio, we contacted TECO-People's Gas who promptly sent a technician out to check on the situation. He identified one source of the leak at the meter itself, which he replaced. A subsequent pressure check revealed an additional leak, which he suspected was beneath the house itself as none of the obvious connections to the grill, the indoor gas range, the tankless water heater or the generator appeared to be compromised. The TECO tech gave us a list of approved gas plumbing techs and recommended Around the Clock (ATC), as the best choice to trouble-shoot and repair the problem. Given the fact that it was a Friday afternoon, we were surprised that ATC was able to send not one but two technicians out (Jesus Sr., [Master technician] and Jesus Jr., [Apprentice technician]), , who actually arrived earlier than the scheduled 5:00pm appointment time. To make an already long story shorter, after cutting through and isolating each of the supply lines from the meter, they confirmed that the leak was in the main line beneath the house, which supplied gas to the range, the grill and our generator. Jesus Sr. explained that this was fairly common with old (1950s era) galvanized line encased in concrete and advised that we needed to re-plumb our main line at a cost of $5,400. We were initially taken back by the price estimate on top of the $500 charged to diagnose the source of the leak, but given the complexity of the work involved and the extent of the line replacement, we approved the contract. After diagnosing the issue, the techs were able to install temporary hook-ups so that we were able to at least have hot water and run the dryer through the weekend. The work began promptly at 8:00am the following Tuesday and was performed by the same two technicians, who literally worked meticulously non-stop until 10pm. They were both extremely polite, knowledgeable and professional and certainly a testament to the fact that good customer service is still alive and well in South Florida. Jesus Sr. was extremely creative in his approach to determining the best and minimally invasive ways to tie in each of the appliances, given our home's layout, construction impediments and the fact that each of the appliances required a regulator due to TECO having to raise the service supply pressure. Bottom line, it was an expensive job, but worth every penny for the quality of service and the peace of mind knowing that our home is no longer a potential ticking time bomb,

    The representative from Around the Clock gas was supposed to arrive between 4pm and 6pm. He arrived at 5pm. Around the Clock Gas charged my card $145 the morning of the appointment. The following day I received another $50 charge to 'turn on' the service. On the invoice it says $145 turn on and safety check. $50 turn on. This extra $50 charge was never relayed to me during my first call to inquire about cost. It was a complete surprise. I would caution anyone looking to hire this company to ask for a complete breakdown of cost so you are not surprised by a 25% increase in what you are originally quoted, after the job is complete. I don't believe they are honest in their quotes and I feel that is a bad business practice.

    Response from their office was immediate. I had an estimate in hand by the same evening, and my work was completed during my scheduled appointment day. The service tech stayed late to be sure it was finished on the promised date. Everyone I dealt with was very courteous and professional. I will be calling them again when it's time to service the system.

    Time was of the essence, and Dig It responded quickly, professionally, and did all the work on time and on budget. They were responsive, courteous, and easy to deal with. Most impressively, when the inspector came to check their work before allowing the gas to be turned on, he said he had never seen such quality work. He was impressed with everything they did, and with the speed in which it was done. Nice, competent people whom I can recommend enthusiastically and without reservation.

    Teco gas finally brought the gas lines from the street to the house. Then they realized that the lines needed to be brought even closer to the house for the appliance installation. A job that was to take 6 months was going on another 6. I decided not to get gas appliances out of frustration with the gas company. I had given Whitson a $600 deposit when they came out in May to give an estimate for the appliance installation.  When I called an explained the situation, the man on the phone was so rude and started yelling at me at the top of his lungs. He said that there would be a $200 cancellation fee. I asked him to direct me to that language in the contract. When he couldn't, he hung up. I was later called by a supervisor who told me it would take 60 days to refund my money. I asked why would it take that long, and she said it was an accounting issue. I told her I wrote a check immediately for the deposit and that they were a small enough company that all they had to do was write a check. She refused. I then wrote a demand letter for return of my deposit in five days. I then called Teco since they referred Whitson. Teco told them they had to refund my full deposit or they would be removed from the approved vendor list. I got my money three days later. 
    I was shocked at the rudeness and unprofessionalism of this company. I would never use them nor recommend them. They say they have been in business a long time. But the heirs are running it and they are running it into the ground.

    This is the third time I have used this company (laying down gas pipe for generator and installation of a tankless gas water heater).  They have always been prompt, professional and have provided excellent service. I highly recommend them.

    I had a gas leak on friday said they did not work on weekends. Tony the represntaive was rude and was not willing to wait for 5 minutes untill I pressured him to stay while we contacte the installer responsible for the leak. When we calle dfor service this week the lady that answered had an negative attitude. We are cancelling srevice and looking on th list for a better mor gratefull porvider

    Employee managed to turn on the pilot light after approx 40 minutes of tinkering, this subsequently went out 2 days later.
    he fitted a shower head as minimum charge was 1 hour and i gave him other jobs, this leaked a week later and had to be re-done.
    checked gas oven which did not need any work.
    I'm back at square one.

    Last Minute Gas Contractors
    He responded quickly (late on a Friday, no less) and did a very good job, including some work to make space for the new set up while preserving the line so that we could go back to gas at a later date if we want to. Also, we were having trouble with the gas/propane service that filled the tank.  I asked Carlos about which providers in our area are trustworthy and reliable.  He made a recommendation and introduction that we follow up on, and we have been very happy with new service provider.  I would call Carlos again and would recommend him to others as well.

    Didn't go at all.  I can understand a travel fee to get an estimate on a repair, but for a new gas line installation?  That's ridiculous.  Perhaps it was just the idiot answering the phone, but there is no way I am paying $75 for an estimate of this nature.
