    Pickle Iron Inc
    - The salesman promised a 6 week turnaround, took my deposit, and I never heard from him again. When I followed up, it turned out my order had not been started. - When the door was finally delivered, 3 months after my order, it had been made incorrectly. The specifications had not been correctly communicated by the sales team to the building team. I foolishly paid the balance, trusting that Pickle would resolve the problem. - It took months to get the corrected door and it was wrong - yet again. And still wrong third time. - Instead of working actively to resolve my problem and communicating with me, the folks at Pickle avoided me and did not return calls. Eventually I had to work through the owner's mother to get anything done. - The end product was never up to the quality promised but frankly, I gave up. Their poor service and lack of responsiveness wore me down. I've always wondered if the sales person sold something that was just beyond their capability. That can happen - but if it did, Pickle was responsible to either deliver or give me my money back. - This was 7 years ago so maybe things have changed but I'd suggest that anyone working with Pickle on custom work set some clear expectations and deadlines. And tie them to money. And talk to someone besides the salesperson to make sure that what is being promised is something Pickle can make. - I used Pickle because I'd heard good things about them. It is mostly the way they handled the problems - by ignoring me and avoiding me and frankly blowing me off that is the most frustrating problem.

The ongoing experience has been terrible. I have lived in Memphis in Central Gardens as a homeowner for over 40 years. I have never experienced anything quite like their disrespect, incompetence, dishonesty, inability to complete work (a job they told me would take 6weeks at the most has STILL gone unfinished nearly a solid YEAR later. Every opportunity they had to delay, to deliver a substandard material, to ignore their assurances and terms of agreement, they have taken. The security wrought iron locked fence they finally put up after breaking my front water main...then not notifying me, calling promptly for a plumbing company, & leaving me with the installed backwards (inside facing out), was painted black instead of nickel, had bronze hardware instead of matching nickel, had only half the fence caps and finials installed for MONTHS, allowing rain to pour inside unpainted iron and rust, and involved one delay after another, as the company representatives made promises, NONE of which they kept. It should be noted they required payment up front, and as an individual with a disability, my elderly mother and father immediately wrote them a check, which they promptly cashed. My experience with them has become a neighborhood joke and a nightmare, as my neighbors noted how ridiculously inept and unprofessional their company is. My advice? RUN, don't walk, THE OTHER WAY...

I called and left a message on their phone, after 4 days no response. Called back and voicemail box was full. Either they don't want my business or they are too busy. Either way it is not a professional way to conduct a business.

The end product is top notch in quality and looks.  Getting there was a little rough.  First they sent out two guys to set the posts and they set them in the wrong place and they were the wrong posts and they spread the mud all over the front yard killing much of the grass and creating a mud pit for the winter.  They came and got the wrong posts and were supposed to clean up the piles of mud but that never happened.  When the correct posts were set they sent another crew who were top notch and everything went perfectly from then on and we were very happy with the crew and the work they did.

My no. 1 priority when I moved to Memphis last year was to have new fencing installed in my back yard. Katie Milton was my go-to person for everything, and I believe she coordinated the scheduling, etc., for the fencing crews. First, they came to my home and measured my yard and the driveway for the gate. Then Katie discussed with me ideas for the fence, and assisted me in selecting a design for the gate, even sending pictures for ideas. After my selection was made, Katie negotiated a good price with me.

Next, Calvin and his Crew came and tore down and hauled away the old fence. This included sawing down an overgrowth of small trees from the city easement side of my backyard. No debris was left in my yard..they were very thorough. I never saw them slacking off. They worked from early morning until evening.

Then Calvin and his crew installed the new cedar fence... and this too was done efficiently and quickly.

Katie worked with me on selecting an electrician for the electric part of the gate, i.e., getting electricity wired from house to gate. This was completed in a day.

And last, but not least, Kenny and his crew came to install the gate. This involved digging very deep holes and pouring concrete to support the very heavy wrought iron gate. This, too, went very smoothly and efficiently. The gate is beautiful, and goes so well in my East Memphis home.

Katie made several trips to the jobsite during all of the installation to see how things were going; and I believe this helps her in understanding the dynamics of the job, so that she can better serve Memphis Fence customers.

There were other things that Katie, Calvin, and Kenny did for me that went above and beyond what the job required. They helped to make my move to Memphis much smoother. Kudoes to them!!!

From the day of the free estimate to the finished entry door and fence with gate,
Everything was started and finished as promised.
A couple of our neighbors have purchased the same fence after seeing ours.
We purchased ours after seeing the house on our cove had this gorgeous fence.
It's solid and beautiful. It is delivered and installed by very courteous and professional
Our custom iron entry door is absolutely my pride and joy.
I was able to choose every aspect of the door from glass type to iron medallions.
I highly recommend Collierville Custom Fence and Custom Iron Doors.

Excellent! Robert was great to work with throughout the whole process. When I called him, he almost always answered his phone right away and when I did have to leave a message always got back to me quickly. His crew was great! We were concerned about how long we would be without a fence because of our two dogs but the way they completed the work, we never had to worry about it. They managed to work around our old deck and at our request left a lean to area intact without making a big deal out of it. I wish all contractors were such a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend Double R Fencing and Robert Reeves.

I received no contact for 4 weeks.  I called several time to inquire about the status and was told they were backed up and very busy.  I noted that  the time frame called out was 5-8 weeks.   Mark Johnson the owner stated that is why he hadn't cashed the down payment check.
The down payment check was cashed in early June.  Another 4 weeks went by (there were some follow up calls in there - again I was told they were backed up) with no activity.  Finally I got the owner on the phone and pinned hime down on a date to come by and take final measurements on the patio.
they finally came by 7/13 to take measurements and explain that they'd install mounting brackets for the posts and weld the posts together and install them then take measurements to complete the rail sections.
2 week later I, 7/27, I  received a call asking what finish i wanted on the posts and was told the posts were welded and needed to go to the finisher.
2 weeks more went by no contact.   I had left a couple of messages previously as well as emails and did not receive a response.finally i got the owner on the phone and was told the finisher  was backed up.
today is 8/20.   nearly 4 months has passed and i've spent $1450 and have nothing but 16 bolts drilled into my patio.
Seems like a very nice man with good employees but response is terrible and follow up is terrible.

UPDATE : 9/28  the rail was finally installed September 21.    I feel that the quality of the work is good and the people on site to install were professional, courteous and good at what they do.

UPDATE: 10/16/14.   Much of what is said here is true.  I wanted the job done right.    The sad part was that all of my face to face dealings with Mr Johnson were positive.    He talks of his workers doing good work - no one ever disputed that.  They were never the issue.  Joe was the most pleasant person to deal with in his shop.     What it all comes down to is that i was told 6 weeks by contract ( that is off of memory) once it was signed he said it would take 8.    What it ended up taking was 16 weeks.  the finish I chose he suggested.  he said it was new and would go with my house.   No one is disputing the quality of the work.  The issue is his not returning phone calls or emails and letting promise dates glide by with no notice.   I was forced to go to Angie's list in some hopes of getting  a response. and that I did.  the minute my payment processed he called me wanting me to take down my commenst on agies's list.   I explained they woudln't be there if he'd been more responsive. With that he raised his voice at me.   That was the entire issue.  His offer to remove the railing was phrased as " we will come and rip it out if you want!".  Disappointing.    I manage projects for a living.   I know responsive and not responsive.   He wasn't.   If he's busy I understand but you can't expect someone to wait double the contract date without updates and be happy.  All he had to do was work with me.    The attached explanation from him was more than I every got from him in 16 weeks.    My intent was to come on here and remove my inital post until I saw his reply blaming his customer for being difficult and demanding.   I'm disappointed with how he handled it.  No one here is quesitoning his workers.  it's his responsiveness that is the issue.   We all get busy.   Blaming customers is not the right path expecially when they've waited so long.  80(
