  • Flores review This past summer my husband and I finally decided to redo our front and back yards and we are so glad we chose Flores as a partner. From the initial consultation to the completion of the job, they were very professional. Within a day of reaching out to Flores, someone in their office replied to set up an initial appointment, we had a proposal in hand a week after that, and our job started the following week. Our Landscaping Consultant was Arturo Jimenez and he made this process very seamless. We had an idea of what we wanted but it was helpful to have Arturo’s expertise and suggestions. It was definitely a collaborative effort. The foreman that we were assigned was Eric Wills, who was also excellent. He was a partner with us throughout the entire project and very accessible--pretty much available at any time via phone/email and even dropping by on his weekends to check in. He left no question/concern unanswered—very thorough. Throughout the entire project we were also lucky to work directly with Rumaldo Flores, one of the owners. He was part of the project from day one and frequently dropped by to discuss the progress and our general happiness with the project. Obviously the team of people we worked with was important, but now on to the actual work. We had our front yard completely redone. We removed grass and replaced with decomposed granite and CA native plants. Additionally we installed an irrigation system and lighting throughout. We also widened our driveway so that we could comfortably fit two cars and added new stairs. In the backyard we added irrigation, lighting, new stairs, trex deck (which is an alternative to and last longer than wood), and a pergola. We love it all and have had many friends and family tell us they feel like they are at a resort (a small one of course!) when they are at our place! Overall a great experience and we would highly recommend Flores for your next project!

  • Our home addition project began in Fall, 2017 and was completed at the end of May, 2018. Overall Shai Butel and his team did a fabulous job. The addition is beautiful and we've received many compliments. We had used Butel Construction once before for a much smaller project--a partial bathroom remodel. So when it came time to do this very big project, we knew we wanted to work with Butel again. Shai does things by the book--no skimping on quality, and no shortcuts. We had some issues with old lead paint on the outside trim which had to be removed before repainting. We are confident that there will be no problems with this because Shai made sure it was dealt with appropriately, using trained professionals. Shai was always willing to work with us, listen to our ideas and what we wanted, and was an excellent problem solver. We were able to live in our home during the entire project, thanks to some creative partitioning and timing. One of the big advantages of working with Butel Construction is that they have all the relevant professionals and subcontractors on the team. We worked with Shai's architect instead of having to do that separately , which probably would have cost more. Also, all the various crews were ready to go, which meant demolition, foundation, framing, stucco, painting, etc. went smoothly and quickly. In fact we were shocked at how quickly the basic construction was completed. We were able to move into the new part of the house exactly when Shai had estimated we would! There were, of course, unexpected additional costs, such as an extra electric subpanel upgrading in the garage and the need to replace some existing flooring, but Shai did his best to contain those costs. He even did some of the extra work without extra charges when it was well beyond what we had planned for or anticipated. We really appreciated the way Shai and his manager, Miguel, kept in touch with us by text and phone. We pretty much always knew what was going to happen and when, and they were both quite prompt at answering the multitude of questions we had. It was very reassuring. We did have to keep on top of the details and do some reminding, but that's true of any big contracting job. A big shout out to Jose, the assistant manager, who was always available for detail work, such as installing a new doorbell or outdoor lighting, and was just delightful to work with. The crews did a pretty good job of cleaning up throughout the project, especially inside. However, at the very end they fell down on the job a bit, which was really our only complaint. They did not do as thorough a job of cleaning around our pool area, which meant we kept finding bits of stucco, nails, & screws in areas where we sometimes walk barefoot. We would definitely work with Butel Construction again, and probably will. They are not inexpensive, but we got our money's worth. We feel as if we are living in a brand new home!

  • We had a wonderful experience working with Daniel to complete our backyard patio / outdoor kitchen project. The project was completed ahead of schedule, while accounting for a few substantial changes made to the project scope. Daniel was extremely communicative and provided updates daily, while regularly visiting the job site. I would use them again for any home renovation project and recommend them to all our friends.

  • Tom Cohen and Joe Sapir were great. They went through the possibilities and options with us, including what we could do with our budget and possibilities for financing. We bought our house as part of a repossessed hillside property, and we had to buy it in "as is" condition with decades of deferred maintenance. We had chipped away at fixing up the interiors over the past ten years, and were ready for a major (and long overdue) overhaul of the exteriors. The house is 1,200 square feet, but the garage is basically two stories with the living area on the third floor. That means a lot of stucco to repair and a lot of surface to paint. We needed new windows to replace the 50-year old ones that were original with the house, along with a new front door and sliding glass door in the back. This included expanding the size of the windows so that they were bigger (and actually up to code). The insulation in the attic was very old and needed to be replaced as well. Our garage door was dented (by a previous owner) and needed to be replaced along with the motor. Our back porch was falling apart, and we needed that repaired and painted. Our back yard had little privacy and was too hot to spend much time in for most of the year, so we also had them put in a large alumawood patio cover that extends over the porch and most of the yard (to the edge of our garden). It was important to us not to just pick a "low bid" contractor and instead to get a company that would do the work with high-quality materials and skilled crews with proper insurance and quality guarantees. We wanted this to be the last major overhaul we have to do on the exteriors of this house. The crews that came to do all of the work were very skilled, and worked with us to make sure they were doing exactly the work we wanted. Each phase of the project went quickly and efficiently, with prompt inspections and "touch-ups" afterwards to make sure everything was done well. Tom and Joe were very responsive and communicated well with us throughout the projects. We are very happy with the work, and we got our money's worth.

  • The work was done very professionally. Niev kept me up to date on the progress. Any issues (just a couple) were immediately brought to my attention and were addressed. The job was performed on budget and on schedule. This was actually the second time I have used NK Construction. They had remodeled my entire kitchen, living room and den. Due to the successful first project, I did not hesitate to contact them again and did not seek a second estimate.

  • Tomer was wonderful to work with. I explained exactly what I wanted in my remodel and he was able to execute it perfectly. So wonderful to see my vision come to reality. Now I love being in my kitchen again, cooking is no longer a chore when you have such an incredible environment to create in! He was fair in price and his work was exquisite. I will definitely use him again and recommend to anyone looking for a contractor.

  • Julien is, hands down, the best contractor we have ever worked with. He is friendly, smart, and made it easy to live in our house while construction went on around us. He provided before and after pictures, 3D images...he's just fantastic. His guys are sweet, and very hard workers, too. Highly recommend.

  • WORST CONSTRUCTION JOB TO DATE. Chose them even though the price was a little higher than other bidders as Nir gave me the confidence that he knew what my needs were and assured me that the job would be completed by the time I left to go on a trip. Contract was signed June 13, 2017 with completion date 2-3 weeks after commencement of job which was to be July 20, 2017. On July 19 CCC asked for a commencement date of 7-8 August as July was busy for them BUT assured me that the construction would be ready when the door arrived 16 August. On August 8 it was discovered that a retaining wall needed to be replaced and I signed a Change Order to the original Contract. The doors were attempted to be delivered on August 16 but I had no place to store them and asked them to contact CCC. The demolition finally started on August 17 for 1 day and no construction resumed until August 26 for 5 days; September 11, 1 day, September 15 for 7 days; September 28, 1 day; October 4, 2days; October 27, 2 days; November 2, 5 days; November 13, 1 day. CONTRACT WAS SIGNED JUNE 13, 2017, with START DATE OF JULY 20. Commencement day was changed at the request of CCC to August 7/8. BETWEEN AUGUST 17 AND NOVEMBER 13 there was ONLY 23 DAYS OF CONSTRUCTION. Nir was fully aware of dates I would be away and said he could work within those dates. DID NOT HAPPEN. PROBLEMS THAT OCCURRED DURING THE JOB: Electrical conduit between house and outside garage was covererd by debris from demolition resulting with no electricity to garage NOR TO INTERCOM AT GATE; electrician had to be called. REMOTE CAMERA UNDER DECK LOST. Ozzie can be particularly condescending and GOT UPSET WHEN I POINTED OUT THAT THE SLATS between the stair railings were not spaced equally apart, laughing it off until I insisted that they be constructed as requested. Last electrician showed up TO PLACE ELECTRICAL CONDUIT UNDER DECK SAID HE DID NOT WORK ON LOW VOLTAGE ELECTRICITY for the intercom. Ozzie did not have a low voltage electrician and said to have Alarm Company do it when they replaced the lost remote camera.. Nir proposed that I keep the balance owing to pay for camera and Alarm Company. We signed off on that agreement. TO DATE, the LOCK BOX is still attached to front gate AND A BUNDLE OR REBAR is laying beside the stairs. USE CCC AT YOUR OWN PERIL. Cost of service includes Milgard French Doors.

  • Jobe identified the leaks as from the deck and stated he would repair 100 square feet of deck and fix the leaks. He just took my money, did not fix the leaks, later denying the leaks were from the deck, and abandoned the project after I let him know the deck leaked badly during the first big rain after he installed a so-called "Waterproofing Deck System." After threatening his surety bond, he had someone do a little more patching, to no effect. The leaks caused more than $5,000 of damage to rooms below. A leak specialist from my USAA homeowner's insurance proved the leaks were from the deck in the places matching the leaks in the ceiling of the rooms below. USAA said it was going to go after Jobe for the cost of the repairs it covered. However, insurance would not cover faulty repairs to the deck by Jobe or my insurance deductible. Another contractor said Jobe used the wrong materials. The small print in Jobe's contract stated that Jobe did not agree that the materials he used were actually waterproof! So a bait and switch, taking advantage of an elderly widow. My advice: Instead of using this unscrupulous/incompetent contractor, just put your money in the toilet and flush. Save yourself a lot of time and aggravation. (Or, of course, never call Jobe in the first place).

  • FEARLESS AND TAKE CHARGE TONY GETS JOB DONE! I am the owner of rock legend "Jim Morrison's Last Known U.S. Home" a 6 u. W. Hlwd. apt. bldg. I thought I'd try Angie's list to find a Gen. Con. to resolve a staircase & balcony Notice of Violation issue. I contacted a few dozen to get bids. Many didn't respond or had excuses. A few attempted to talk to the City of Weho for details, but eventually fell by the wayside. In the end, there was only one man left standing and that was Tony. He went above and beyond the call of duty, going to the city day after day for weeks talking to various depts. until he got answers, not accepting their runaround. I found Tony to be very knowledgeable, professional, honest, and dedicated. It was Tony who discovered my situation had become even more complicated with the city who had taken it to a whole new arena of "Historical" significance, which ultimately made the intended job more complicated and financially devastating so that I could not pursue the original job with Tony as planned as he was my 1st choice for the job. Tony never asked me for money, referrals, or to leave a review. He never asked for anything, but gave his everything. As a licensed realtor who has been in the Real Estate business for over 40 yrs. as an investor, developer, landlord, Vacation Rentals host, and CEO of Cheri Woods Rentals, I have no hesitation in saying to others you cannot afford NOT to hire Tony, if you want someone professional who knows what they are doing to take charge of your project, as there are too many con artists out there who will take your money and run.
