    Valvoline instant oil change
    If Valvoline has its way this oil change - originally billed at $30 - will cost me over $1300.00. I went into the 4359 Sunset Blvd Valvoline to get an oil change. Everyone was friendly and they got the job done quickly. I left the place feeling that they had done a good job. But when I got home I noticed oil drips on my driveway. I took it to my mechanic and he said they had damaged the threads in the oil pan by screwing the plug in crooked. He tried to re-thread it but said it was so badly damaged he doesn't think it will hold for another oil change. (He is not a backyard mechanic - he worked at a dealership for 20 years and was trained in Germany.) There is no easy fix for this - I looked - a lot - the only acceptable solution is to replace the oil pan. And the minimum price that I found for this was $1330.69. The other shops I went to were higher. If I went to the dealer it'd be over $2500. This isn't just my car - other cars are higher. I called Valvoline customer service twice and each time they told me that because I had my mechanic try to fix it that they had no responsibility. I posted a review in Yelp and someone contacted me. I thought they were going to try to resolve this . NO! ONLY KIDDING!! They sent me back to customer service where I was now told that my mechanic had caused the damage. No, my mechanic had fixed what they broke. I even asked if I could bring it back to Valvoline and they could see for themselves. NO! They wouldn't do that. This, if anything, shows their attitude. They tell me the problem was that I didn't bring it back to them and now when I offer to they refuse. Back at the Sunset Blvd location they also refused to take responsibility, telling me as well that my oil pan was not intended to last this long anyway - which is NOT TRUE according to several dealers and mechanics - some laughed when they heard this. I asked to get the number of the area manager - politely - and they refused to give it to me. And no, he didn't want to get back to me. So the Valvoline rule is "we break it and you pay for it." When I drove in there the car was fine. When I left it wasn't. According to Valvoline that's my fault. Getting your oil changed seems simple. Who could screw up threading a bolt back into a housing? And if you think they'll actually take responsibility for their mistakes, guess again.

    They are great! My car had been stored and not driven for quite some time so it needed to be checked out thoroughly to make sure it was safe to drive. They checked everything, called me to tell me what needed to be done and gave me an estimate over the phone and got all the work done by the next day.     I think they're good. I know that they can be more expensive because they are attached to the dealership but I am someone who knows very little about cars but I trust them. They've always done a great job. I know if I shopped around I could save a little money but I've just used them ever since I've been in L.A. because I trust them.

    These guys are so honest. I've used them for a couple of years. They are much cheaper and faster than any dealer. I have 2 jeeps and 1 Mercedes. Their work is impeccable. I've received quotes from other companies where they say I need to replace something. California Tire will look at my car and give me their honest opinion. One time I needed a rear tail light and got an estimate from a dealer. The quote was very high. I stopped by California Tire and they were much more affordable and got the work done right away. They are honest as the day is long. I trust these guys and feel so comfortable with them. I recently received a quote for new tires. They are at least 20% less than the lowest quote from any other company.

    He does all our oil changes and all the maintenance on our cars. He is amazing when it comes to finding out what is wrong with a car. He can figure things out, he is like a doctor, I don't know how he does it. He is so affordable. He is one of our great finds in California. I have been following him since I moved to California in 1987. He always charges us less than anywhere we've ever went to. He does not charge us for things we do not need. He looks out for you like you are family. It is amazing. He does the work fast and very efficient. I have probably saved the amount of a full car by using him. I hope he stays in business forever.

    He knows everyone. Anyone he recommends, I trust. We were going to junk the car because the whole computer board was out but he said no let me see if I can fix it, and he did and the car is still running today. It was such a good deal. We got quotes from the dealer for several thousands of dollars. It was great. This guy is amazing.

    They were very expensive. They are close by. That is one thing. Then they have free rentals, so if they have the car for the day, you get a free rental. They have a very nice waiting room. They feed you and take care of you. They are very nice to their customers.

    They got it done pretty quick. They called me in an hour and a half when they were done, and it was a Saturday morning. I usually do my own brakes, but I'm getting too old to mess around with stuff. I don't think $300 will take me off my game, so I was okay with the price. They never gave me back my original key. I would absolutely use them again in the future. They communicate well. They do pretty good work and guarantee their stuff.
