Jewelry Appraising reviews in Los Angeles

At the start of our appointment, Provider name locked. briefly viewed all the jewelry he would appraise, and then quoted three hours of work at $150 per hour, which included our appointment and additional research and report production time after I left. The $450 final total charge was very reasonable given the detail and the quality of the final report, and the work and expertise that went into producing it. You definitely want to pay an hourly fee for this kind of work, not a fee based on a percentage of appraisal value or a flat per-item fee. A percentage-of-value fee is unethical, and a flat per-item fee will often make the final fee much higher for estate jewelry than an hourly fee. Provider name locked. also appraises jewelry for other purposes such as insurance and fair Provider name locked. or retail value, and will appraise one item or much larger lots of jewelry than mine. They do not buy or sell jewelry. I would use Provider name locked. again for jewelry appraisal and would recommend them to a friend.- DAVID A.
I later found and used gemworld international in northbrook instead, and reviewed them for angie's list. Their fees were hourly and the appraisals truly neutral. Also, gemworld's appraisal fees were several hundred dollars lower than they would have been at Provider name locked. 's, if Provider name locked. 's had appraised the jewelry for the same values as gemworld. Provider name locked. $35 per item minimum fee in particular can make estate appraisal costs quite high if Provider name locked. applies it strictly and doesn't combine relatively low-value items into lots as gemworld does and as estate auctioneers do in selling jewelry. Many estate jewelry items are worth less than $3500 per item, and therefore could be charged Provider name locked. 's $35 per item minimum fee, but they still require appraisal for estate taxes. You'll do best if you pay an expert an hourly fee to have that done, not a percentage or minimum-per-item fee for a large lot of jewelry.- DAVID A.
Provider name locked. met me promptly at my appointment time.
I had 3 rings for appraisal. He looked at all 3 and told me that 2 of them would appraise for less than $1000 and that it wasn't worth my having them appraised. He gave me an estimated value for each of them.
He then proceeded to examine the 3rd ring and provided me an overview of what he was doing and how he was doing it. The whole process was relatively quick and I received my written appraisal in the mail about a week later.
Provider name locked. also offered to speak with my son about engagement rings as my son is in the Provider name locked. for one now.
The experience was a great one and I would definitely recommend Provider name locked. to others.
