Pediatric Care reviews in Long Beach

    Amy Tran MD
We moved to long beach in Nov 2014 and I was nervous about finding a new pediatrician. Dr. Tran is close to our home and in our insurance plan. We Lucked out! Dr. Tran and Dr. Percer are wonderful. It is a small practice. Just the 2 doctors and very mom n pop type practice, but they take great care of my 3 children and I am not easily impressed. Their previous pediatrician was part of a very technically advanced practice and at first it concerned me, but the way Dr Tran and the entire staff have cared for my 13, 9 & 5 year old children has been exceptional. Every time I have needed to bring my children in, they have been able to see them and that means the world when your little ones are ill.

    Talbert Medical Group
I've been with them for a number of years and in general I've been satisfied with their services. They are conveniently located and they have a number of services on site so you aren't being sent from place to place which I appreciate a lot. They are also a neighborhood establishment so I find that I'm very comfortable. The personnel have also been positive to work with. I was with them a year ago. Thy are a medical group and they have some specialists on site like a pediatrician, internal medicine specialist and they have their own radiology lab on site for taking tests and so forth.

    Perry, Dr. Steve S.
He's been with my kids since they were born. They are very responsive. He tends to be very practical, and gives the kids quizzes and tests to make sure they are developing well. Also handles their immunizations

    Columbia Pediatric Medical Grp
Columbia Pediatrics have always been outstanding. We used them when our children were small. We are sixty-four so we haven't used the services of a pediatrician for a while. Our youngest son, who is now thirty-eight, had cancer treated there. They are a memorial group and are wonderful. Their office environment was very nice; they had a well children's room and a sick children's room so the sick children did not stay in the same room as the well children.

For most scheduled visits (non-sick/immediate needs), we are taken into the room within 5min of arrival. The nurses check the weight, height, and confirm the basics (medicines, purpose of visit, update any info). The nurses we have seen have all been friendly and good with the kids. We usually wait 10-15min for the doctor (except for those 1-2 extreme cases). The doctor has been very thorough and patient with our checkups, from start to finish. I am a first time mom and ask A LOT of questions, and my doc has always taken her time to answer all of them.I also like that they take notes of the visit on a duplicate copy pad, so i always walk away with a copy of the notes from our visit and what my follow ups are because i always end up forgetting some part of what my "to do" is.

We've taken our children to Columbia Pediatrics for years. Dr. Gaoghagan is wonderful with them and knows how to effectively communicate with parents as well. Our children are pretty healthy, so our visits are usually limited to annual well-child check ups. I like that Dr. Gaoghagan asks about school (likes/dislikes), activities, diet etc. in developmentally appropriate ways. We've met with Dr. McFarland once when my son needed to be seen immediately and Dr. Gaoghagan was not available and she was equally helpful. Wonderful group of doctors!

    Percer, Dr. Thomas L.
We have two children and Dr. Thomas Percer had been their doctor ever since they were born. Now, my two children are 22 and 17. He is an excellent pediatrician. He is very much available. He is very knowledgeable with children’s illnesses. If you have a sick child at home and you need to call a doctor at night or something like that, Dr. Thomas Percer can give that type of service to you. He is very accessible if needed. I would certainly recommend him to other members also. If I ever have another child, I would definitely use his service in the future.

My doctor was very gentle with the twins. It was a very thorough examination, and the doctor did everything necessary. My husband was very impressed with the service. We are actually taking them back for shots next week.

I was not happy with my OB/GYN because of issues specific to him, but also because Harriman Jones treats patients like numbers, and I feel this way when I take my daughter to her pediatrician (however, I very much like her pediatrician so I am hesitant to leave at this point) and I also feel this way when I schedule appointments for my husband or call his doctor with questions. It is IMPOSSIBLE to talk with the doctor on the phone, the staff is curt if not rude, it is very difficult to be seen and you have to schedule appointments weeks in advance. The offices and waiting areas are messy and sometimes even dirty. I have waited in my OB/GYNs office for 60-90 minutes before being seen, patients are overbooked and ignored.

    Columbia Pediatric Medical Grp
When I was still pregnant, we chose this medical group because it was in my network. My preferred choice (my obestetrician's children's pediatrician) was out-of-network. Initially, we chose a pediatrician in the medical group that we felt comfortable with: Dr. Jill Gaoghagan. She was extremely personable and professional. Unfortunately, after the birth of my son, I was unable to secure appointments for her. I tried to schedule an appointment four months ahead of the date needed and was still unsuccessful. I learned a couple of weeks after my son's birth that she was going through medical problems herself thus the reason for the limited appointment slots for her. We tried another pediatrician at the medical group (Dr. Quan) but my husband and I both felt that our concerns weren't being addressed/met. We decided to switch to my obstetrician's pediatrician.
