    A Pete's Concrete
First and foremost, Pete and his crew are all good guys, courteous, pleasant to talk with, and very hard working. No doubt about it, they know their stuff! Their concrete work is second to none. The finished product is some of the best I've seen. There were two minor issues. One, they damaged a Honeysuckle that was goring over the water spigot trying to access the water spigot. Partly my fault, Knowing how much water it takes for concrete finishing work, I should have pointed it out on the first day. I had to hack down almost all of bush/vines to free the wire trestle to bend the trestle back into shape. Also while they were rooting around for the hose bib they knocked off of the control box for my auto-watering system. A quick reconnect of the control box and all was well. The Honeysuckle has recovered nicely. So... Initially frustrating, in the long run, no harm. Two is he quoted me $3,800.00 for the job. On the day before the pour he told me he ordered a higher grade of concrete and asked for $200.00 more. Now, from my perspective (both professionally and personally) an additional 5.5% on a change order is not unexpected and reasonable so I said fine, no problem. That ate the tip I had planned on giving them anyway so it didn't cost me any more than I planned. And I got a concrete pad I can park an M1A2 Abrams on should the need arise. I highly recommend them. In fact, when I can afford it, I will call Pete back to do my driveway... This time I'll show him where the hose bib is from the front. :-)

    Horizon Construction & Remodeling Inc
I found Horizon Construction on the Houzz app after several attempts to connect with a few other contractors. I sent an email on a Sunday and got a response the following Monday. The great communication with Horizon continued through my entire project of a complete remodel of my kitchen, guest bathroom and walk in closet. They also installed all new windows and tile flooring. My project manager was David and he was the best, made himself available to me for all of my many questions and decisions even while he was on vacation! Working with Enna and the others at the office were perfect as well. I couldnt be more pleased with the outcome of my remodel. Best Regards, Debbie Karmelich

    A Pete's Concrete
A Pete's Concrete They removed and replace concrete in driveway and concrete on area next to garage. I give them all A's. They were timely, professional, and affordable. Feb.9,2019, Pete came to my home and looked at what i wanted and gave me an estimate. Additionally, he made a great suggestion to concrete the soil area next to the side of the garage. That idea was helpful because I had to go onto the dirt/mud to move trash cans. On Monday, 2/11/2019 Pete and 4 men arrived at 6:45 am. They removed trees next to garage, concrete in front of garage and roots that were under concrete. He removed 3 broken parts of sidewalk; re bars had been placed in all the repaired areas; broken concrete had been placed in a truck with trailer to be hauled away the following day. The job was meticulously cleaned. Pete and his team left at 4 pm. 2/12/2019 Pete and team arrived at 6:45 am; the concrete carrier left; the concrete mixing truck arrived and the cement was poured. Pete's team smoothed the concrete; unfortunately, when they were almost finished, a man walked on to the wet cement leaving shoe prints. The men tried to explain the mishap. Eventually, the man apologized and offered to pay Pete. Pete did not charge the trespasser. I knew that Pete was hardworking, knowledgeable, organized, and had a hardworking team and other support persons, and his price was fair. What I learned was that Pete when rattled, remains calm, focused on project, and moves forward. In this case, Pete, himself re smoothed the concrete getting rid of the shoe prints. The site was cleaned and all barriers were placed around the site. Pete and his team left at 5 pm. Pete knows his work; has a skilled team that has worked together for many years and has the necessary tools and resources to get a job done.

    Angel's Pools Inc
Our pool was over 50 years old and Angel's Pools helped get it back in tip top shape just in time for summer. Thanks to Angel, Edward, the office staff, and a great crew of professionals, the re-model was relatively painless----we now have a quality pool. My wife and I are entirely satisfied. We would recommend this company to anyone.

    P's Handyman Services Inc
Pier Angeli was here every day, worked hard, took care to make everything he did perfect. I am more than pleased with my new bathroom. This man is a master at all the building trades I know about. I now have a newly tiled shower, new toilet, new sink, new floor, new paint job all of which included plumbing and structural work. I will definitely be hiring him again in the future. I have dealt with a lot of contractors, He is the best. Even the city inspectors complimented his work.

    SOD Builders
Luxcess Home by SOD Builders just completed a large remodeling project at our house that included the complete remodeling of: combining two bathroom into one large master bathroom, remodeling the master bedroom, kitchen and the common areas of the house. Their large help in the design, plans, the materials selections and the work schedule during the construction timeframe was right-on and was performed by very skilled, caring, professionals and capable staff, including the few subcontractors that joined the work for unique tasks. We are so happy with all the work that was done at our house and we highly recommend Luxcess Home by SOD Builders and we will use them again without any doubts.

    US Home Developers Inc
I found this company on Angie's List and contacted them. I spoke to Daniel, a field supervisor, and gave him an idea of what I needed. Daniel came out viewed my problem areas and we talked for at least two hours. I'm the kind of person who knows what I want, the style, the materials, and the design, before I ever talk to someone. Daniel gave me a price and a timeline and I said yes. Prior to Daniel I contacted two other companies. One company that I spoke with told me one of the things I wanted to do couldn't be done without ever seeing my house. The second company had an answering machine. The man did call me back but if you can't hire someone to answer your phone then I'm not interested in your company. Fredy is the foreman and this company has there OWN crew. No sub-contractors. Antonio, Alex and Francisco with four or five other workers are top notch. They are respectful, helpful, nice hard working guys and it was a pleasure to have them here. Along the way we found issues with my 66 year old house that needed to be corrected and brought up to code. Those problems were corrected and inspected with flying colors. Initially the bathroom gut and remodel were not part of the original bid, but I was so impressed with the work in my kitchen, that I added on the bathroom and new hardwood flooring in my living room and a bedroom.

    First Cabin Construction Inc.
If you're considering to hire Dave Perumean at First Cabin Construction for ANY type of project, the first & most complimentary thing I can say is that, if you decide to do so, your life will get a whole lot easier. I hired Dave to oversee a large project that primarily focused around deferred maintenance to an apartment building in Long Beach, CA. From the very beginning to the very end, Dave was the utmost professional, making himself available whenever I needed to communicate with him, & it didn't matter if it was via phone, text, or email. He was fantastic & would respond immediately. Also, from the onset, the project encountered multiple unforeseeable obstacles, but Dave was able to identify, diagnose, & present a solution very quickly. Below is a comprehensive list of the work I had First Cabin perform: *Overall foundation replacement & repair of four 3-story balcony decks (this portion of the project was massive). *Concrete & pebble deck work. *Install & relocate rain gutters & redirect exterior courtyard drainage (in front & behind building). *Demolish & re-pour concrete walkway & 4/stairs leading into exterior courtyard. *Repair & replace drywall in subterranean crawlspace. *Remove rust, paint, & weather protect safety railings. *Install lattice to further support & safeguard railings. *Design, construct, & concrete small supporting wall to help with exterior courtyard (rain) water drainage. *Coordinate with the property management company & work with the city of Long Beach to pull the necessary permits & maintain constant communication with the city inspector. *Constantly checking on the work site (even on his days off!), keeping it safe & as clean as possible. I cannot begin to explain how stressful this project was. The size & scope was simply overwhelming; however, Dave was able to make it as painless as possible, & he will always be my first call when I'm in need of a contractor for anything!

Do NOT use these guys! They are terrible. Hugo has abandoned my project, and we are about to begin the litigation them. Hugo is a terrible communicator to his clients and employees. The pool itself looks amazing (My wife and I designed it, not them). And the work, for the most part, was good! But there are things to finish (Correct the panel location, set up the pool panel and programming, set up our app on our phones to control the panel, pass gas test and final inspection) that he did not complete after daily messaging. Pool project started on 10/3/17...we signed a contract agreeing to 90days (Jan 3, 2018)...well here we are, April 25, 2018 with out the entire project completed. Hugo showed up yesterday (4/24/18) since is was the last day for him to complete the project before he breached it, and it was the first time he actually SAW THE POOL, and it was the first time that he has set foot here since November 14th, 2017, which also happens to be the last time he collected a check!! (weird, right?!) Over 5 months ago!!!!! He'll tell you that his crew showing up for the first time in over 8-weeks is his company continuing to work on your property. It's the second time his company disappeared for over 2 months during this project. All the problems we had here were directly from Hugo not being here and it was on me to do his job and make sure his employees he sent did the right thing. Perfect set-up for him, Right?! Here you are, paying him tens of thousands of dollars for a project he agreed to, and you end up having to hound him and beg him to finish it! He's unapologetic about everything. There were only 2-3 inspections that I wasn't here alone to do. That's not what i signed up for! I paid full price, I paid every time I was supposed to, and now I'm the one who has to sit and wait for the inspection?! In fact, today we failed our final inspection (for the 3rd time) because we failed the gas test, and the location of the pool panel isnt to code, and some of the pool equipment will have to be moved to provide the required "working space" around our main electrical panel. We'll we have a new contractor that will finish this up. And we'll do everything we can legally to collect what is owed to us by Hugo and his company. Word of advice: Make sure that final payment in the contract is AT LEAST 20% or more...or you wont see your project finished...for sure not by these guys. But the best advice would be DON'T USE THESE GUYS!

    Alberto Machado
Very poor quality. Skipped extensive areas of painting, window frames, fascia. Drips and streaks on much of the surfaces. Over spray. Broke power washer. Took extension latter, step stool, large garage broom, two small brooms. Broke out door security light. Could not work to check list of things which were not complete. Cut 4 x 4 hole in wall where I said someday I might put a window in for a bar. This bar window work was not in agreement. I am still working with custom window shop to finish this unplanned project. Did not seal around bottom of house which was one of his selling points. Only did a partial seal. Workers were so inexperienced they accidentally painted the inside of my living room window frame and inside of one of two french doors instead of outside when painting exterior. The inside white is a different color than my interior so now I have to repaint these areas. He did try to fix this, but left inside door frame partially painted in two shades of white. Did not scrape loose paint on eves, painted right over peeling paint then tried to fill in with caulking when I said work was incorrect. Used a sponge to put high gloss polyurethane on wood cabinets resulting in streaked finished product. Garage floor paint has air bubbles which will need to be scrapped and corrected. DO NOT HIRE THIS PERSON. HE IS INCAPABLE OF DOING THE MOST SIMPLE WORK. He is a nice man though and worked very hard, but completely incapable. Almost all of the workers were completely incapable. There may have been one that showed up one day and painted the front door without a problem. Repaired cracks in driveway and tried to put a slurry of glue and sand to create an even textured surface. I've been dealing with the loose sand tracking all over my house. I power washed (after purchasing a new power washer) some of the slurry off. Not sure how to correct this other than waiting for it to naturally come off and wash into street.
