  • OK..this is a contractor for AAA, which I have been a member of for 25 years and this is my first negative experience through them.I had a dead battery and they sent out a tech, I will say he was very prompt and somewhat courteous. He showed me on his Provider name locked. that I needed to replace the battery, even though the car (and Provider name locked. ) is less than 2 years old. I have since spoken to 4 other people and each and every one of them said that they were told that their battery needed replacement! Hmmmmm.I decided to authorize the repairs even tough I could take the car to the dealer the next day (this was on a Sunday) and at least get a pro-rated price. I had a lot of running around to do and didn't want to take the risk of it's failing. I thought the charge of $140.00 + tax for just a battery (labor was provided by AAA was somewhat high but I agreed. The tech asked me if I was going to pay cash. I said "no" I would I would use my credit or debit card. That's when he laid the bomb! He told me that it was his companies practice to charge an extra 3% for using a credit or debit card. I'm's not the lousy 5 bucks it's the principal. Merchants are NOT ALLOWED to charge extra for credit card usage! This was part of Obamas Credit Card Reform Act. I told him that it was illegal, he returned to his truck and then came back with a "so what" attitude. If I wanted my battery changed I would have to pay the extra 3%, which I did.The next day I called AAA to get the name and phone number of the contractor as it is not shown anywhere on the receipt. (I wonder why?) I then call and spoke to the manager. He was EXTREMELY belligerent, screaming at me that I was wrong and to keep out of his business. I then called AAA again and complained. I got a call back from their regional manager apologizing for the contractors actions and telling me that he would make the contractor send me a check for the 5 bucks as it was indeed illegal. I told him to keep the money and instead send me a written apology for his attitude. Let's see if that ever happens! If you're a AAA member, they are great! But if they want to send out Provider name locked. ....well you have been forewarned.

  • Our key would not turn the ignition switch. Before he towed it, he tried to see if he could get it fixed. He also said that it did not look like it had been tampered with. So we had him tow it to the dealers across town. This happened late in the evening and the dealer was already closed we asked should we follow him out to the dealers but he said it wasn't nessary and that he knew exactly where to drop it off so the dealer would know it needed service. The next morning we received a call from the dealer telling us what was wrong with our car.
