Transmission Service reviews in Kansas City

  • Problem started about 9 months ago. The Check Engine light came on on the dash. Took the car into the dealership that we normally use. They provided the error code, and said that to rebuild the transmission would cost between $3500 and $4000. However, the car ""ran fine."" Due to money issues, decided to not let the dealership work on the car. Watched the performance for a period of time, and in January, 2010, decided to have the problem looked at by Provider name locked. , based upon recommendations from Angie's List. Scheduled an appointment. They looked at the car, and said that to diagnose the problem, they needed to keep it overnight. Once the car had totally cooled down, they reset the computer in the car, plugged in their diagnostic device, and drove the car from Provider name locked. to near Downtown. The car did not ""throw"" and error, so Provider name locked. said come pick up the car. While driving it home, the Check Engine light came back on. So, returned the car to Provider name locked. . They did some more tests, and said that to fully determine the problem, they would have to open up the transmission. Once opened, they found several problems, and performed a rebuild on the transmission. Provider name locked. was fairly thorough with his explainations, and worked with us. It did seem that they took their time while diagnosing the problem. But, once the opened up the transmission, the repair took about a day and a half. To date, the car seems to be driving OK, but it doesn't seem to have quite the ""zip"" that it used to. We still need to take the car back in for a service check, making sure that seals are holding, etc. Just about any transmission work will cost you quite a bit. Provider name locked. at Provider name locked. took the time to explain things to you, and gave you the feeling that they were trying to work with you to give you the best deal.

  • Great job. I would do it again in a minute. Price was right in line with everyone else. They explained everything, and were wonderfully prompt and friendly. Be mindful that it is a smoking shop, both at the check in/out counter and where they work on the car. I needed an air freshner in the car when it was done.
