    I only gave it one start because that I had to assign at least one. My son was scheduled to see this doctor. I became ill (bronchitis and respiratory infection). I was trying not to cancel the appointment, but at 8:30 the day of, I called because I just feel awful with fever. I was coldly told by Jana I had to pay $50.00 cancellation fee. She argued that I was advised of the fee two months ago when I scheduled it. Maybe I was, but was sure I'd be there. Unfortunately, life happens. However, I thought my illness might merit a bit of compassion and patience. It did not. I don't care if I have to try to Chicago for another specialist, I will not support this place. If you venture to use them, know they are uncaring and be prepared to pay a fee should you become ill, have a death in your family or some other "life" situation.

    I called about a week ago to get price quotes and I told them to run my VSP insurance and I need a full quote for an Eye exam for contacts and glasses. I was told my only out of pocket expense will be my copay of $15. Upon Checkout I was given a bill of $112. And I called VSP to inquire about this. Overall I am not happy with them blindsiding me and they refused to release my prescription. And I called VSP and they told me they have to legally release my glasses Prescription. I will still recommend this practice but make sure you get the billing verified, but personally they have lost my business forever I will never use them again. It is very rude to tell a patient they will owe $15 and upon checkout you blindside them for $97.

    I had Lasik surgery here and am very, very happy with the outcome.  After 8 hours post surgical pain and discomfort, I woke up from my recovery nap able to see clearly and see everything.  
    I was disappointed in the pre and post evaluations.  I had one other evaluation prior to coming here and that was very informative.  That facility spent a lot of time discussing my different options and helping me with the pro's and con's of this procedure.  I felt that I was very informed about my decision when I left this other facility.  
    Silverstein was my second evaluation, after seeing a Groupon for their services.  I did my research and felt that the Groupon cost was worth it and that Silverstein was a good place to go (not many reviews so that is why I am writing one).  
    When I arrived for my initial evaluation, the "nurse" was pretty thorough in my exam. She gave me some information that I received at my other evaluation and answered some general questions.  Then I saw Dr. K.  He walked in, didn't introduce himself and seemed to be in hurry to get me in and out.  He did not offer me a lot of information but looked at my eyes, asked me if I had any questions and that was it.  Then I was sent to the surgical coordinator who discussed all the cost details and set up my appointment.  She was VERY helpful in answering questions that I later thought of and gave me things to think about with my vision.
    In the weeks waiting for surgery I was very anxious and unsure if I really wanted to have my eyes worked on.  The surgical coordinator was very helpful and reassuring, willing to take my calls and answer all my questions.  
    The day of the surgery I arrived and waiting in Pre-op with 3 other people (with curtain dividers) and waited for my turn to go in.  I was led into the surgical room where I was placed onto the surgical bed and the team got ready for my turn.  Dr. Silverstein came in, was very nice and informed me about everything that would happen.  He talked to me the entire time and was very calming and re-assuring.  
    After surgery I had a quick follow up with Dr. K (that seems to be his thing - quick) and was discharged.  Returned the following day for a very quick follow up with Dr. K and that again released.
    Three days later I am thrilled with my vision and thrilled with Dr. Silverstein's team.  The procedure was much smoother than I could ever anticipate and the process is well oiled.
    How can they earn an "A" rating from me?  I would like Dr. K to spend more time with patients, introduce himself when he walks into the room and make sure I am well informed of what I'm walking into.  I also wish I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Silverstein before the surgery.  That just seems odd to me to do a procedure on someone but never see them before or after the event.
    All in all I am thrilled that I went to Silverstein!  I would happily recommend this place to anyone looking for Lasik and needing to budget their money.  The Groupon made this a GREAT deal for me!

    I was greeted and taken care of promptly. The lady helped me find my glasses by giving good suggestions. Then she used there machine to take pictures of me with the different eye glasses and emailed directly to my wife to get her input. I spent a little more than I wanted to but the glasses are nice.

    They have very in depth and comprehensive eye exams.  They go all the way to very advance forms of examination and some of the equipment used and specific underlying health issues that they can check or anything coming up along those lines due to other underlying multiple problems.

    She great, she knows what she's talking about. She is very fast, she answers almost all my questions. I am extremely nearsighted, I am at like 23 diameter when it comes to contact lenses, apparently she does that kind of stuff a lot. She was recommended by another optometrist. She talks fast sometimes so you got to listen close. She talks like she has had a lot of caffeine. Because of my extreme nearsightedness they were able to get 100% coverage by my insurance. They apparently worked with the insurance company and it was medically necessary contact lenses.

    They were a little higher on the cost perspective but everything else was excellent. My eye doctor was very pleasant. It was easy to make an appointment. I got my new contact and glasses in a very short turnaround time.

    I think I'll be sticking with my regular doctor, who's better. This doctor doesn't have as good equipment. Most of the work was done by the assistant, rather than the doctor. They also don't take my insurance, so it's very expensive.

    This is my second review of eyeSmith and once again they have met and exceeded all of my expectations. This is NOT an ordinary optical shop staffed by non-owners who may have had mediocre training, Rand Smith is as close to an expert as you will find in Kansas City and anyone who tries them will be coming back again and again.
    My wife had purchased and quot;Google Glassand quot; for me for my birthday. Rand was able to order lenses for the frames after carefully measuring their fit and function. I also ordered a new pair of and quot;regularand quot; glasses while I was there. I have pretty poor vision and also have near vision correction (bifocals). First, the new glasses and frames are the lightest I have ever had in my life, and this new lens material - sorry, I don't know what it is called, just tell them you want what Steve Johnson got :) - has me seeing better than I ever have.
    My wife got a great pair of sunglasses as well and will be going back to get a prescription version of them soon.
    You can't go wrong at eyeSmith!

    Hmmmm. This is a tough one because I have been going to see Dr. Meyers for years and like him. He is a good optometrist and when he is in with you he spends a fair amount of time talking to you and explaining things. The issue that I have had the last two times (actually since they moved into their new office in Burlington Square), is with the punctuality of the office. Each time now I made an appointment WELL in advance. You can't get in with a few days notice so you would think the schedule would be set. But each time I waited 20 or more minutes to get into an exam room after the appointment time. Then after the different tests that the assistants perform I was placed in the exam room waiting for the doctor. After 20-30 minutes I finally went out and complained and was told things were behind. After all was said and done it was an hour and a half from start to finish which seems like a really long time, especially when you are trying to schedule these things around work. Since it wasn't the first time I have to consider if this is just the way the office is run.
    BUT, the office manager was very apologetic and made a very nice gesture by giving me a discount of $50 off of my new glasses. That was a great recovery by him and will have me go back for a second pair of prescription sunglasses. Like I said, Dr. Meyers is really good at what he does but since they moved the logistics in the office just doesn't seem to hum like it used to when they were across the street. I hope they will work the kinks out.
