  • The endoscopy went very well. The follow-up not so much. The doctor told us to follow up in 2 weeks but the office refused to schedule us until 4 weeks later. Long story, but we were misdiagnosed which resulted in lost time and more pain. We were given the wrong meds (used for another entirely different condition) which didn't even touch the pain. Called back, said it wasn't working and were told to keep taking it and given a second med on top of the first one for the same thing. This one had serious side effects, called back, told to stop that one and were given a third med in that same class to treat a problem we didn't have. Summit GI wanted to do a CT scan, and even knowing the urgency of the matter...constant pain for several weeks...only called us back to schedule after 8 business days! Ultimately, our family practice doctor figured out the problem and within 24 hours had us scheduled for the correct test (which was NOT a CT). Within a few days, surgery was scheduled. The surgeon noted that it was classic symptoms and should have been an easy diagnosis..especially with a 10lb weight loss in a month..totally different diagnosis than these doctors were giving us. In fact, they never even mentioned the possibility of what her "classic" symptoms could be. How do these people get through med school? In addition, it was very difficult to ever talk to a real person when calling the office. In fact, the one time I actually got a real person, they sent me straight to voicemail. It always took 3 or more days to even get something scheduled simply because no one ever answers the phone. I have spent my life working in hospitals and for doctors and can honestly say, the office responsiveness was extremely frustrating and difficult. The medical advice and treatment was incorrect for the symptoms. For these reasons, I would never go back.

  • Was referred to Dr. Basta for a long standing issue with lumbar pain. After reviewing my history and MRI, he spent approximately an hour with me explaining my situation and the course of treatment that he recommended, which was a spinal fusion. He was extremely thorough in explaining everything. There was no pressure. In fact he suggested I explore all non invasive treatments available before agreeing to surgery...which I did, with not much improvement to my condition. He performed the surgery and from day one I knew it was not a mistake to have it. done. After nearly a decade of pain and limited mobility I am a few months post op and pain free and no longer need to walk with a cane. He is my miracle worker. I highly recommend him.

  • Great bedside manner & thorough analysis of my symptoms and history. My case was complicated and involved a cyst over a molar and chronic infections in the maxillary sinus above the infected tooth. Dr. Podrebarac reviewed the CT scan I had done and listened to my history of sinus infections and migraines and helped me come up with a plan going forward that doesn't involve immediate sinus surgery (another ENT had suggested this right out of the gate). I was very impressed with his ability to assess the situation and communicate potential treatment options to me.

  • My husband and I were very excited for this appointment.  We hadn't seen our baby since week 10 when she just looked like a little peanut, so to see her actually looking like a baby was exciting.  We were also a little nervous because this is our first child and we weren't sure what to expect and hoping to find out that she was developing correctly without any issues.  Upon arriving 30 minutes early to our appointment as requested we were "greeted" by a very unpleasant receptionist that couldn't be bothered to look up from her computer to say hello or give us any eye contact. After standing at the desk for a few moments waiting to be acknowledged she said, "last name?" I told her my last name and she handed me a clipboard with paperwork and told me to complete it and return it to her. Her entire demeanor was very unpleasant and short. She made us feel as if we were bothering her, even though the office was not busy at all and there was no one else waiting in the reception area. We were called back to start our scan by a woman with the same disposition as the receptionist...cold, short, annoyed, and lacking any personality or bedside manner. I had to introduce myself and my husband before she even told us her name or who she was. She never once explained what was happening or what she would be doing. She just told me to lay down, lift my shirt, pull down my pants so that she could begin. She got started immediately.  She was silent the entire time not explaining anything to us only saying something occasionally like, "right foot", or "heart", but mostly she just stayed silent never letting us know what was happening, if things were looking good or if something was wrong, or giving us any reassurance about anything regarding development and measurements. This being our first ever level 2 ultrasound and not really knowing what we were looking at, my husband finally asked if that was the babies head on the screen.  She sat silently not acknowledging him for a few moments before finally saying, "No, I'm looking at 100 different things."  My husband told me later that he felt like her response was very cold and rude and she made him feel as if he was bothering her. It was obvious that asking her questions was bothersome. So he sat in annoyed silence for the remainder of the scan. At one point she said she was having trouble seeing the baby and that I would have to come back in 4 weeks when she was bigger.  I made the mistake of asking her if it was because of the position of the baby.  Her only response was, "partly" with no further explanation.  Once she was finished she told me to stop at reception to schedule another appointment in 4 weeks and left.  It was a very disappointing and unpleasant experience.  I am not looking forward to going back in 4 weeks, which is sad because this is a happy and exciting time in my life. I asked my husband in the parking lot if I was just being a hormonal and emotional pregnant woman, but he assured me that he felt the same way about the experience and was very upset about it. I will be telling my primary doctor about the experience and suggest that she find another place to refer her patients to for their anatomy scans in the future.

  • It’s an excellent medical facility; I receive excellent medical care there as does the rest of my family. I have received many surgeries and the hospital has saved my life. The burn unit of Kansas Medical Center is fantastic as well. I would give them the highest grade possible in every respect, every manner. The burn unit saved my life, literally. My surgeon at the time was a full professor of plastic surgery and he did a great job and he saved my life. He no longer performs surgery as he has retired from it.

  • I would highly recommend him. I give him the highest ratings possible. I have been using him for at least five years. He is compassionate, and very competent and thorough. I will not be changing doctors.

  • He is an excellent physician. You just really couldn't get better. He is practical and down to earth. He listens to you when you say something. He is not one of those dismissive types. The office is very nice and people are very professional. It's clean and quite. If I need to see him I can get to see him. It's not an issue.

  • Dr. Devins misdiagnosed my mom with lung cancer and recommended immediate surgery to remove her right lung.  My mom ended up going to Sloan-Kettering to have the surgery performed, where they decided they weren't convinced it was lung cancer after all and did their own work up, starting over from the beginning.  What they found was scar tissue from pleurisy that she had years ago.  When they requested her X-rays over the past 12 years, they found the scar tissue (what Devins thought was lung cancer) had actually been getting smaller over all that time.  So, luckily, she came home and has remained lung-cancer free for 15 years.  However, Dr. Devins still believes he was right.  When my mom returned from Sloan-Kettering with her images and the good news, his response that it was fine to get a second opinion, but that he would still recommend having surgery to remove her lung.   I never want to go to a doctor that refuses to look at new facts or information relevant to my diagnosis because he or she didn't think of it first.  I never want to go to a doctor that will put a patient at risk like that without even re-evaluating the case. I don't know of it's his ego, or lack of knowledge, but I will not recommend Dr. Devins to anyone for any condition.

  • When I arrived, the staff was prompt and I was in the office for my examination quickly. Dr. Butrick was curt and professional. He was knowledgeable but gave off an air of being constantly annoyed. I'd say that I appreciated his knowledge and the information that he gave me, but not his bedside manner or delivery.

  • He is first class all the way and he is available to your service 24/7, any time, night or day. If you are anywhere in the world you can call him and he is at your beck and call. He is phenomenal. If there is something wrong you find out that day, if you have to get an MRI it's done that day, anything that's going on with your system is done that day and you know it will be taken care of. He calls you back that day with the information. It's remarkable the service that you get.
