    Sears Appliance Repair
    The Sears repairman himself was excellent and professional. He made necessary repairs, installed some parts, but noticed there was a part missing. He ordered the part and left. The part came in the mail, and I called Sears to schedule a second appointment. At that time they told me they were not an authorized repair shop for Troy Bilt, (although they were aware this was the make when they sent the repairman out the first time.) They would not come back out. We had to take the mower in to another repair shop. The second shop could not use the part ordered for Sears due to liability issues, so I had to buy the same part twice.

    The Mower Mechanic
    My 2 year old Husqvarna Lawn Mower became very hard to start.  I had the mower serviced (by another company)b and the second week after I had the service performed, I could not start the mower.  I did all of the recommended things, like use fresh gas, and although service was just done, I changed the spark plug, etc. I had to have my neighbor come over to start the mower.  The mower would start after more than 20 aggressive pulls on the cord.  This mower does not have a primer button.  I used gasoline additives, all to no avail.  When I contacted the place of purchase, I was told to bring it in.  They told me the places that they would send the mower for repairs.  When I checked these places, I found that those companies had very poor customer ratings.  I saw The Mower Mechanic ratings in a ratings venue. When I talked to the owner, I was impressed by his willingness to thoroughly discuss my mower and answer a lot of questions. He offered several more suggestions for me to try and told me to call back if I still had problems.  I tried those thing to no avail.  I called him back.  He told me what he thought the problem may be and I indicated that I wanted him to examine the mower. He asked if I had a way to get it to the shop (I did not). He told me when his son would pick up the mower, what his name was and what type of vehicle he would be driving.  His son told me that the shop was about a week out in their work.  In exactly one week, I received a call from Jesse Sosebee, the owner, stating that my mower was repaired and what the problem had been.  His son returned it to me that same day. Mr Sosebee provided a detailed statement of repairs made and parts used, along with tips to help prevent the same problem with  my carburetor.  The price included the pickup and delivery.
    This narrative may sound typical; however,it was not.
    This was a really positive experience. The customer service at The Mower Mechanic is great.

    They did okay.  They were friendly and they were nice.  They got it in and got it out when they said they would.  I really didn't have any problems with them.  The main thing for me was that it was far away and it was a change of something.  They were closer.  It is still running and it is 7-8 years old.  They are good.  Another place I used to go before was cheaper, but I had a warranty thing with them.  They are way south now, so I am happy with Merriam now.

    When I took my lawn mower to Sears, I told the person receiving all the things that was wrong with my lawn mower, but he only wrote down one thing that was wrong with it.  Then I talked to somebody and told them on the phone what was wrong with it, but they didn't expand the list.  When I went to pick it up, which has about five weeks later, they still hadn’t fix my lawn mower.  At that point, I asked what else they could do for me and what they could do was sell me a new lawn mower for half the retail, but I had already paid $50 for them to look at my old lawn mower, so it costs half the retail plus $50, so I have a new lawn mower.  It’s not as good as my old one started out, but it’s workable.  They were undependable.  From the time I dropped it off, they called me and I was outside and they were supposed to call me back in 10 minutes, I came in, they called me back in 10 days and then I got a phone call saying it was ready.  I went to pick it up and then they couldn’t find it.  I went back two weeks later and that’s when I found that it hadn’t been really fixed.

    I called Jersey Joe's for service on my lawn mower.  I left a message on his answering system what I wanted, left my name and phone number and he never returned my call, so I took my lawn mower else.

    SMITTY'S LAWN & GARDEN EQUIPMENT
    The gentleman at the service counter was not very courteous when I dropped my mower off. They called me once to tell me that it would cost another $165(on top of the $65 they charge you to diagnose the problem) to repair my lawn mower and give it a tune up. I told them i just bought the mower and it doesn't need a tune-up. Then they told me they called the wrong person and that they were still working on mine. A few days later I got a call saying that my mower was finished, but they never called me before that to tell me what was wrong with the mower and how much it would cost. When i went to pick up my mower the gentleman who helped me was very kind. Overall the experience was not that great

    It started out as a tune-up for $49 but I knew that the mower had been running rough and was very hard to start when and quot;coldand quot;. The carberator needed to be replaced which added roughly $80 to the cost. I was happy with the service and the price for that service. They said they would have it done in 2 wks and it was done in 5 days (they must have had a slow week).

    Since the last time the dealer worked on the snow blower, they have stopped carrying Honda products and are now concentrated on Torro equipment.  They will not attempt to order Honda OEM parts but will work on Honda equipment provided no parts are required

    Called Joe on Monday, he came out and picked up my snowblower on Wednesday and had it back to me on Sunday.  Joe does a great job and works around my schedule.  He serviced my lawnmower this Spring.  Always gives me a hint or two on how to keep things running well.  I am so happy that he picks up the equipment and the price is very reasonable!  Makes it easy to get the annual maintenance done.  I will be calling him again in the Spring!

    When I dropped off my mower I was given an estimate for $100 to $110 and a time frame of 7 to 10 days.  I was contacted 10 days later and told my mower was ready to be picked up and that they were open until 6pm.  When I got to the store to get my mower, I was told I owed over $150.  An additional part was needed that cost $17.69 that I was never contacted to approve.  How the bill went up $40 from an $18 part still escapes me.  I was given a $5.30 discount and sent on my way with service to a mower that cost almost 40% more than I was expecting and never notified about.
