  • Visiting Nurse Association - Kansas City are good. I liked her showing up, on time, and doing careful work in an efficient professional manner. Very well done. They are very knowledgeable nurses that seem to be little more on the caring side, very competent.

  • Mom and I were dismissed from the Northland St. Lukes ER on March 20th, 2014. Her arm in a sling. Good luck. Get her help at home. She lives at Wexford Place which is Independent Living. 10 days later with no help, no assistance with my mother who cannot care for herself in ANY way and who has gone from independent to totally helpless, we had an appt with a bone Dr. Thank God for him. Dr. Bleazard we will never forget you! Our world opened up to the N Kansas City Hospital crew and we were literally saved by Angels. I am not a super religious person, but these folks could make me that way. I cannot thank them enough for their care, attention and kindness. Ever.

  • Our first night home with our newborn was filled with screaming (baby) and frustration (me) because while breastfeeding seemed to go fairly smoothly in the hospital, it did NOT once we got home.  I knew there was no way we could do another night like that, so we started looking for help at 3am and found Michelle's website.  We emailed her and she responded very quickly that morning - so quickly that we had time setup with her at 11a that day.
Michelle was very personable and took the time to understand our issues before evaluating what was going wrong.  By the time she left, I was comfortable with a couple new positions, latching, etc.  It was exactly the boost I needed to keep going and that day and the next night were a lot better.  Michelle also took the time to bring me a kit for my breast pump following the consultation, which was pretty incredible as I know she had a busy day.
Note that her consultation doesn't have an end time - she wants to make sure you are comfortable before she leaves.  I text her a few times after she left with questions and she responded right away.  Again, something that I felt went above and beyond.  I can't recommend her enough.  If you have issues breastfeeding, Michelle will be invaluable to you.  You can do all the searching you want online, but there's no replacing someone meeting with you in your own home.

  • My husband had been hospitalized at the hospital and they had excellent care there and we felt that we wanted continuity of care and someone taking care of him who had access to his previous records and knew all that he had gone through to provide him good care in the home and they did exactly that. It's a separate business within the hospital. We had options as to what we could have chosen. We could have chosen any home healthcare in the area. There was a nurse, physical therapist, occupational therapist and they had other services. He had a nurse and physical therapist coming several times a week and the occupational therapist coming a couple of times. He was very critically ill in January and February in the ICU for 11 days and in the hospital for 30 days. He had a very serious illness and because of their expertise, he actually survived all of it. It was the first time my husband had been hospitalized since 1963. I was familiar with the hospital and we've used it for minor procedures but we never had anything major like this before. We chose it because it has an excellent reputation and he had a cardiac issue and I knew they have a strong cardiac department. They use an electronic medical record. He had a lot of issues and so because of their electronic medical record, they had all the information that they needed about his acute illness and what he responded to and what he hadn't responded to, and what the issues were. They gave him excellent care because they knew what he needed. They facilitated the communication very well. The physicians and nurses communicated beautifully. Because he was still being cared for by his cardiologist, nephrologist, pulmonologist, and his primary care provider and because they had an MRI and everything, everyone had access to his lab work and knew what the other ones were saying. They had great communication with each other. We were really impressed with that from the acute care when he was in the ICU and they used a concept called intensivists where there are doctors that specialize just in intensive care unit care and they all communicated so well. There was no ego, there was no who's on first kind of stuff. The hand offs were smooth, the knowledge was great so it was kind of the opposite of what you hear a lot in health care these days. We saw that continuation of good communication in home healthcare. They're really well qualified people there. The nurses and physical therapists are really experienced and very well credentialed. We had some big snowstorms in Kansas City during the time that they were coming to the home. Whether they had to come and jump over a snow bank in the garage to get in because the snow was too big in front, they were always there when they said they would be in spite of pretty inclement weather. You hear so much negative about healthcare. We were obviously worried whether we would have a good experience or not and it was just far better than we ever expected and we are very grateful.

  • There were probably four different nurses who came depending upon what day it was, and their schedules. We had a general scheduled appointment time, and they would call to confirm it. They would call and let me know if they were going to be late. They offered to help doing the laundry, taking the trash out and anything else that I needed to get done. They would explain things to me, their communication was excellent. I would refer them to friends and family members. I stopped seeing them because I knew that I would stay in bed as long as I knew that they were coming. I knew in my head that I had to start moving, so I started going to the wound center in person, I had to get up and move, get ready and such things.

  • All the nurses and medical professionals were really wonderful. They were very knowledgeable and sensitive to the injuries I had. They were very gentle and great. I will use them again in the future.
