Fireplace Repair reviews in Kansas City

It might have been my fault for not getting clear expectations, so I may use them again, not sure. My hope was that I could start using my fireplace for the first time this year (bought the house 5 years ago), but after he was done he told me that my chimney cap needs to be replaced to be safe (there is a tree growing out of it) -- to the tune of $800, but I don't think he went up on the roof at all. They had cancelled his original appointment because of bad weather, but not sure why since he didn't even get up there (unless he did it when I wasn't looking, which doesn't seem possible since it is WAAAAY up there).
He also told me my chimney was already pretty clean (must have been done by the previous owner before I bought it).
Also, he could not tell me how to operate the gas starter -- there is a gas connection in the floor but no shut-off valve, so not sure how it ever worked. I would have thought he could go into the basement and investigate, but he said he didn't do that... That I would have to talk to a plumber. Again, I guess I should have asked the scope of the job.
I just feel like I wasted the $133, probably my own fault, though. I certainly don't have the $800 at the moment :-( so, I'm disappointed.
He was very professional and tidy, however.

Provider name locked. called about 15 minutes prior to his arrival. Very courteous and helpful. As a result of this inspection we are having additional work performed to meet safety issues brought to our attention. Provider name locked. was very friendly and was not in a rush to get the job done, taking his time to thoroughly check out everything.

Provider name locked. as hired to do an inspection of my mom's chimney and fireplace as a requirement of selling the home. The scheduling was prompt and the inspector arrived at the scheduled time. He completed the inspection of the chimney flue and fireplace and completed a written report which we needed to provide to the purchaser. We were very satisfied with the services provided and the report was complete, professional and thorough. While we did not complete the work recommended in the report, it was not a requirement of the property purchaser to make the repairs, just get the inspection and recommendations. We would feel confident in using the services in our own home should the need arise in the future.
