  • I got a temporary crown which worked pretty well, except the dental assistants made mistakes and seemed to be on their first day on the job. For example, the nurse squirted water on the tooth that was being worked on while holding the suction up near my lips, so all it did was suck in dry air, so a bunch of water went down my throat while my mouth was blocked open as far as it would go. It's really hard to swallow when your mouth is that far open with a constant spray going down the throat. If I couldn't swallow fast enough, the water would get into my lungs. Then I went back for the permanent crown. I had told them the on the first visit that I had a latex allergy. The dental assistant (Abdul) was wearing latex gloves so I told him I had a latex allergy. He said, "Do you get a rash?". I said, "No, I go into shock" (I can die from it). So he changed gloves. Then, while fitting the permanent crown, he pushed up on the tooth so hard that he was squashing the roots (I realized later). I jumped and he said, "Does that hurt?". I said, "Yes". He then had someone else give me a Novocain shot, then continued pressing up on the tooth really hard (he's a beefy guy with huge hands and fingers and he put a lot of effort into it). After working on it for about half an hour, he told me that the doctor would come in and adjust it. Later the doctor came in and started fitting the permanent crown ALL OVER AGAIN (for about 25 minutes). When the dental assistant blew air over the tooth it hurt like crazy, which I realize now was because the roots were injured. The doctor gave me another Novocain shot. I've never needed a Novocain shot when getting a permanent crown. It's always been completely painless, but the doctor wasn't bothered by the fact that I was in pain. I also had the same problem mentioned above where the assistant squirted water down my throat while I had a block holding my mouth as open as possible and making it hard to swallow. Also the assistant at one point sucked up the back of my throat with the vacuum. The doctor told her not to do that. The back of my throat is still hurting now, 24 hours later. Also, I was having some pain in the lower opposing tooth so another assistant took three x-rays, all of which weren't aimed right. They were useless. Then Abdul did another one which worked. When the Novocain wore off a few hours later, my tooth was so sensitive that eating a room temperature banana made it hurt as if I was eating ice cream. I was pretty sure I was going to need a root canal, which would be dangerous because I'm taking osteoporosis medicine, and any major mouth surgery can cause osteonecrosis of the jaw. Consequently, I didn't get to sleep until 3:00am and only with sedatives. Anyway, when I woke up the next morning the pain had mostly gone so my roots had just been bruised, not broken. Another really weird thing was all the assistants, who had the competence of a bunch of teenagers, were super confident. It would be comical if I wasn't the victim.

  • The dentist I had been seeing for about 30 years retired and referred his patients to Dr. Mingos. I had my semi-annual cleaning done and could not be more pleased. Every aspect of this operation that I came in contact with was extremely efficient and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend this dental practice to others.

  • This has went really well for the past 3 years. I definitely suffer from White coat syndrome. I get nervous and generally unhappy when it is time to visit a doctor or a dentist. It goes beyond reason to mention, this has caused issues with me receiving general dental exams every year. Until 3 years ago when I found this office. Dr. Blair Edgington is pretty freaking dope. She's honest and provides important feedback in regards to your dental plan.

  • She pays particular attention to detail and is very pleasant. She listens to you and is very knowledgeable. You can get in easy with her. They are usually very prompt. They are good at communicating.

  • For my money, this is the best dentist in the KCMO area. I love their staff, their services and their funky cabin! I have a lot of dental work, including a bridge and sensitive gums, so dentists are VERY important in my life and this one is tops!

  • I was worried it was going to hurt. I sat with the hygienist and she went over the numbing procedure and how it was going to work. It was a lot easier than I expected. The shot didn't even hurt and she was really sweet. I saw Dr. Kristy for the crown and she and her assistant were very nice, they made lovely small talk and I actually walked out of there having a good day. My crown feels great and it was awesome that I didn't have to wear a temporary crown like at my last dental office, they cemented my permanent crown the same day. I was very pleased with the beautiful office and friendly staff.

  • My appointment was thorough, both by Christi, the hygienist, and Dr. Burch. I had a root canal performed several years ago by a different dentist, that was appearing abnormal. Dr. Burch recognized that the issue was low grade, but recommended a specialist to possibly retract and replace the existing root canal to be proactive to any possible infections. When asked if there was time to let the situation wait, Dr. Burch was very honest and reasonable in his answer. I could choose to wait, possibly never seeing any problems with the tooth, or have it replaced and avoid the risk of potential problems. Either way, I never felt that I was being pushed to make a decision. I felt Dr. Burch and Christi were genuine with their concern for my health. Needless to say, I chose to be proactive. The dentist I was referred to was also outstanding and agreed with the assessment. Dental health is nothing to take for granted and I have never had any reason not to trust Dr. Burch and his staff.

  • The dental hygienist Kelly and Dr. Sutton were both very polite, efficient, and knowledgeable.  Both answered my questions intelligently and professionally.  I had a great experience and will be using this office again.

  • As always, everything went well. I particularly commend Patty, the hygienist who works on my (our) teeth. She's thorough, has a very good sense of humor, and is just a very pleasant person. In the past, my wife and I have had "significant" work done--crowns, etc.--and have always been most pleased with the work done and the long-term results.
