" was great to deal with from the beginning. We had a complicated situation with the second floor of our home not cooling properly. " took the time to listen to our concerns and provided us with multiple different options at varying price points. even responded to our house a second time just to discuss the options and answer questions. We decided on American Standard equipment and had a new line run from our basement to our attic where new vents were run throughout the upstairs. (original duct work was not run properly to provide enough airflow on second floor) It was an extensive install with holes having to be cut through floors and closet walls. The installation went flawless. It is evident really takes pride in their work. The finished product looks great! The bid was right on target with the competition and we decided because of the extra time took with us it was worth the couple hundred extra dollars from the next comparable bid.

-James P.

"This fellow was absolutely great. Punctual, professional and friendly. He spent nearly 5 hours at my home cleaning my ducts. And neat? This guy was spotless. I've" noticed a real improvement in air flow (both heat and cooling) since his work. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Is Air Duct Cleaning Worth It?

Experts agree there is value to air duct cleaning, although there's no scientific evidence it improves air quality.

Air Duct Cleaning

The air you breathe indoors can become more polluted than outdoor air because it's trapped inside, allowing contaminants to accumulate. Many HVAC companies offer air duct cleaning services, but there's no scientific proof that air duct cleaning improves air quality.

Yes Jupiter. It depends on the severity of the situation, is the mold encapsulated in the insulation. If yes, than replace [insulation] it with new. Is it on the casing of the heater? If yes, clean it with a mold neutralizing metal cleaner. It's not a matter of finding something or someone to clean or address the existing mold. It's a matter of finding a contractor to rectify what is causing the mold grow. It's coming from excessive moisture in the air-handler unit. I can say with 100% surety you’re dealing with poor airflow and/or incorrect equipment sizing! Either issue will cause excessive icing of the evaporator coil, which leads to excessive condensate water in the system. The condensate will eventually overflow the drain pan leaving stagnant water in the air-handler housing, which leads to mold growth. I would not let any contractor do any kind of temporary repair, add any device like a UV light or air-cleaning product until the aforementioned is corrected. I talk a lot about this in my videos and on my website. It is the result of improper system design from unqualified contractors. There is a reason why some guys cost more than others, and this is one reason why!

If the ducts are venting through a window I'm assuming the duct work is all easily accessible.  Lowe's and Home Depot sell a cleaning kit that uses an electric drill to spin the brush as it goes through the ductwork.  I've found it to work quite well and you can do it yourself.  It may take a few passes the first time to get everything out if it has been a while since it was last cleaned.  Just make sure you get all of the loose lint out after running the brush through from both ends and you're good to go.  Please note that if the line is not hard but rather a flex duct line you can easily puncture a whole in it with this kit and will do better to clean it by hand.

There are varying opinions on the type of cleaning to have done on your air ducts.  My opinion is that it varies based on the type of duct work you have.  If you have solid material (typically metal) ducting you can have use a company that uses a brush to scrape the system clean.  If you have flexible plastic or foil ducts the solvent cleaners are generally a safer bet since the brushes often tear holes in the soft material and/or pull joints loose.  It really depends on what type on ducting you have.  You're ducts will collect all kinds of dirt, skin cells and allergens over time so if you see dicoloration around your vents it is probably time to get them checked and cleaned.

Also, don't stop at the duct work.  Don't forget your annual system check up by a licensed HVAC technician.  They'll make sure your system is running at peak performance, keeping it running efficiently and with as little impact as possible on your electric bill.  You can often save the cost of the annual tune up in the electricity cost saved.  If you have a natural gas system a bi-annual check and cleaning of the HVAC unit may be advisable to save electricity and gas.

if you have exhausted all of your choices I would call and put a complain in with the BBB then go to the DA and put a complain with them.  Then get a good lawyer and sue them for all you can get.

Air Duct Cleaning reviews in Kansas City

It went very well, very impressed. Received a reminder call the day before the appointment. The day of the appointment they arrived right on time. They were very professional and knowledgeable. And I was very impressed by their flexibility. Our townhouse is designed with the furnace in a second floor utility closet and has no open main air lines ...More -- their normal access point. But they found a vent directly off of the mail line and were able to make it work. Flexible and adaptive ... impressed. It took about 3 hours and the place was left in great conditions .... just now with a cleaner duct system. In addition to the normal "dust" they also cleaned out a lot of drywall chunks along with pieces of PVC drain pipe and installation instruction papers and a switch box. All from our original construction 10 years ago. If you have a new home, this is highly recommended. I wish we had known and had this done back then. Hopefully this will help reduce the fine dust issue we have always had. Plus better airflow without all the construction "trash" in the vents. Very impressed with these guys. If we ever move again, we'll call them to clean the ducts work before we move in ... guaranteed!
- Steven D.

They were very professional. They just forgot to turn our furnace back on, but we got it turned back on. It took a little over 2 hours. They moved furniture to do the work, but put it back in order before they left. They even vacuumed the floor. They were very good.
- Sheri T.

Arrived a little bit delayed but phoned ahead to set expectations. They arrived on site, laid plastic down to not dirty the house and wore shoe covers. The process took about 5 hours to complete, they showed me the before and after. The biggest thing that was fantastic was that they re-connected the hvac properly in the attic that fed the top floor ...More of the house that was causing poor (if any) air flow. It was a fantastic experience and I'd definitely recommend them!
- Ryan M.

The service man showed up on time and quickly identified the problem as being a pipe behind a duct in our storage room. He had the whole thing fixed in about an hour. We also used this company several other times that summer and we were always pleased with the result.
- Natalie M.

On time. Dressed very nicely. Explained everything they were going to do. We purchased a procedure that sanitized and kills dust mites. Cost additions $85.00. It was well worth it. I would definitely use them again.
- Kathleen S.

All of the workers
were polite and professional...but really didn't know what they were
doing. The first guy said there was a short but he didn't really know
where so he replaced a fuse and left a spare in case it happened again.
Second guy came out and said the thermostat was bad then came back and
said, ...More no, it just needed to be rewired. third guy came out and he also
said the thermostat was bad but after spending an hour trying to figure
out what was wrong only to find that the last guy rewired incorrectly.
After both workers said we were low on coolant the third guy finally
looked for the leak. He said we needed to replace the evaporator coil
and said they'd call with a quote the next day (friday). I didn't get
the quote until monday. The quote was for $1600 and the part was out of
stock for 5-7 days. When I told them I'd found the same part online it
magically became available on Tuesday. We decided to go with

I was impressed. Mr. did a great job of making sure I knew about the process and what to expect. Even though he was only going to be 10 minutes late, he called and made sure I knew he was on his way. When he got there, he went right to work, and even made sure that I knew about possible issues he might have (and which fortunately ...More he didn't have). He was professional, courteous, and did a great job. Very impressed.
- Katherine S.

I had a unique situation in that I had insulation in my return air. It was self inflicted. But I had a new A/C installed but it was having issues cooling the house. We had the group that the A/C company had recommend and they did their work while I was out of town. But the issue continued. I found on Angie's List and ...More so I called the owner ( I Think ) and we set up an appointment. I had to postpone it due to being out of town again. They happily rescheduled. Then came to the day. They arrived on time and what should have been a four hour job took six. There was that much that needed to be cleaned. They actually filled a large vacuum with debris. They showed me while they were excavating the junk I had in my return. I knew it was bad but had no idea it was that bad. After they finished and the house has cooled back off,I could tell a difference how much more efficiently our A/C is running now. These people are great, great attitudes, great work and above expectations with results. In today's age of diminishing service.it is good to see a company with an above board work ethic and dedicated to service. Thank you guys, I appreciate it.
