"Badly. In January 2013, my rate started at about $69 for long-distance local phone service and Internet. Then it jumped to about $80. I called to protest. For the next two months, the bill was $68. Then it jumped to about $82. Note that the service did not change, only the prices. Called again. For five months, the bill stayed steady near $68. Then it was $81. Called and was assured it could be adjusted and changes made retroactively. The month after that it was $98. Called again. The month after that, it was $80. Called again. This month it is $101. This is crazy.
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
's Internet service is not so fast as the cable companies provide.
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
offers "promotions." When the promotion expires, a person is supposed to notice and call them back to request a new promotion. This is a lousy way to do business. Being
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
's customer has cost me $90 more in the past four months than I had any intention of spending. The Internet service drops often. Recently the phone line has been full of static. Last night while holding a conversation, it sounded as if another person were dialing over our line.

"For two years, guys have been coming to our door trying to convince us to try AT&T cell service, "Uverse" Internet, home phone, and television. We have had terrible experiences with AT&T in the past, so resisted. One guy suggested that many of our neighbors already used the service. So then we got a letter offering a nice price for a bundle of services, and 30 days to try it free. So we called, and spent lots of time on the telephone with the salesman (his insistence, not ours) as he explained the services, ran a credit check, etc. We were scheduled for a January installation. Because they would take several hours to install, I took the day off.
On the morning of the installation, we received a voice mail saying there were "outside issues" and that we had been rescheduled for February 19th. We had been offered a good deal, and they had convinced me that I was no dealing with the same maddeningly terrible customer service and service quality I had in the past, so this was just fine. I took the day off, got everything ready for them. No show, no call. When I called, I talked to a very sweet, completely clueless young lady from the Phillipines (who was of course IN the Phillipines) who was very apologetic but could not tell me anything.
Then I called and talked with
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
, who was very polite, but had no answer as to why AT&T would schedule an installation then just not show up, and not even call. I said we just wanted to cancel, and was told I had to speak to a customer counselor in order to do so. :) I am not making this up. I took off work twice for them to not show up, but it seems I must have a problem that required counseling by their expert staff.
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
, (so glad she has an unusual name!) came on the line with a smile in her voice and no apology whatsoever. In her most confident, "let me placate this idiot" voice, she performed a monologue about outside lines and other things, never once apologizing or explaining why we were scheduled but not even called to cancel. don't BELIEVE AT&T. They are the same lousy, overblown conglomerate they have always been. In additon, if there was so much work that had to be done in our neighborhood for us to have the service, how could many of our neighbors already have the service, as the
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
-looking dudes who came to our door said? We are happy that we found out before committing to the service.

"I have been a customer with
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
for several years. I've recently had my bill increase by more than what I'm comfortable with. I called their customer service twice and went into the local office once. The times that I called them they were professional, but the time in the office was horrible. The lady I spoke with made no attempt to actually look at my account to see what could be done to lower my bill. She basically gave the vibe that I was inconveniencing her by being there and that I was to just suck it up and accept defeat on the higher bill. I'm currently looking for other options and will drop them like a bad habit as soon as I can find something comparable. "

"Below is the email that I sent to
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
w/CBT (our salesman that came to our door to sell us the fioptics package).
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
,
I just wanted to send you an email to let you know that since our Fiberoptics was installed on 10-24-13, we have been very unhappy with the service. I was noticing that the system needed to be rebooted frequently and the picture was stalling during DVR playback as well as the picture was pixelated. I called to get service a few times prior to asking for someone to come out physically on 12-3-13. He came out and checked out the boxes and had to replace our main DVR box. Once Mr.
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
made the service call, we thought everything was okay. A freak accident happened on 12-20-13 when the construction crew building a house next door to ours accidentally cut the line from the box going to the house. They took full responsibility and called to have you back for a service call. Upon review of the situation, your technician Mr.
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
D Babik came out to repair the line. In doing so, he found a problem with the INITIAL installation of the service. First and foremost, theTV upstairs in my bedroom was not hooked up to a dedicated line as it should have been since it was a DVR unit. In addition, Mr. Babik had us call ADT services to make sure that we were getting service through our phone line. When we called, they said that we hadn't had ANY service going to them since October 24, 2013 (the day of our initial installation). My husband specifically voiced his concern over the alarm system and the installing technician assured us that he had addressed the issues. (Yes, I should have called ADT to verify, but I was naive and believed the technician when he said that he had handled it.)
Since Mr. Babik has been out to fix the system on 12-20-13, we have been out of town and just returned last evening (1-1-14). When I turned on the TV, the DVR box was already reading Err...I do not know how long it was on Err. We had to once again unplug the modem & DVR and reboot the system. I was also using the remote control to fast forward through a DVR'd program and the FF button would not work and we had to go to the CBT store in the Eastgate Mall to get the remote replaced. The final straw was when I was watching a show on playback today, and the screen just went black, the guide at the bottom was working, but no picture. I once again had to reboot the system. I would say that on average, I am rebooting my system at least once a day, and modem/DVR reboot at the very least 2-3 times a week.
A couple of other issues I have is that there is no caller id block (for my outgoing calls-privacy block), and I have set the caller id to show up on the TV when someone calls, yet nothing ever shows up on the screen. In conclusion, with all my problems with your service and the massive outage last month that took out everyone's service, I am just fed up with the issues. If my issues can not be resolved or at least handled in an acceptable manner, I will be returning to TWC.
AS of 1-31-14, we have switched all services back to TWC but our phone number has never been ported back over to TWC. After multiple calls & getting SR. management involved to no avail, we have had to get a new phone number from TWC & CBT is still holding our phone number hostage and will not port over to TWC.

"Technician was courteous and knowledgeable. He was patient when I had to go and perform various tasks to check my phone and internet. I though it would take a long time and would require a service call. It was quick and painless and my phone service has been restored.

"The service men were on time, polite, cleaned up like they were never there, answered all my questions and I haven't had to make a service call since. I recommend WOW! cable to anyone looking for a cable service. They are the least expensive of all the providers that I researched in my area.

"I had their service for 8 months and NEVER again!!! I was
quoted $78 and I
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
’t think I ever received a bill for less than $200. Every
time I would call to fix my bill, which was EVERY month, I was treated like I
was stupid as they talked in circles and played the blame game with Dish. I am
so happy to finally be rid of them!! Avoid these guys like the plague!

"TV
A huge difference with my previous provider beating
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
/Xfinity in many ways. With my previous provider I had a nice, brand new Motorola box with the time in front. The
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
box is not readable from a distance, and there is no time in front. Within 5 months, I needed technical support when the
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
box stopped allowing me to view live TV or record/view anything on the DVR. Unlike
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
's on-line claim that their HD DVR box holds 300 hours of standard definition, this box only holds 100 hours (and only ~ 20 of HD recordings) and has 2 tuners (so don't believe the Xfinity commercials if you live in southern NJ). My previous provider's remote had the DVR controls in the middle so you could comfortably rest your arm on the sofa and fast forward, etc. The
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
remote is very uncomfortable with the DVR controls on the top so your wrist is leaning over the remote. I preferred the DVR screens much better with my previous provider. All the recorded programs were listed on the left by name of program - if you recorded a series, they were listed under the program name, not 15 times, as opposed to
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
, where you have to keep scrolling to find each episode. Also, if you start watching something and stop, it was highlighted with my previous providers. With
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
, you don't know as everything looks the same. With my former provider, there was a "recent delete" folder so if you accidentally delete something, you can retrieve it. Also, a message asks you "are you sure you want to delete."
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
has none of this - if you accidentally delete a program, you're out of luck.
Channels - while I had more channels when I started with my previous provider, when I switched to a lower priced package, I did
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
some channels that I used to watch. I did get some of these back with
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
(Biography, BBC America). However, I have HBO, Starz, and SHO and there are fewer channels with
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
than my previous provider's movie package. With them, I had 8 Showtime channels and each had the West version. With
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
, there is no SHO West, Starz West, or Encore West, and I lost 3 SHO channels: Women, Next, and Family. HBO is the same except for only 1 West channel. My previous provider had West channels for all the HBO's (and other premium stations), which is convenient when you want to record more than 2 things at once. You can record the later scheduled West version.
Program Guide - I like my previous provider better - it says "new" right where the series is listed, so you can easily scroll through the guide and record just the new episodes you want, skipping repeats. With
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
, the "new" is listed only after you click on the program name and is part of the "information" at the top. Everything with
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
TV seems to involve more steps. Same with on-demand. In addition, when you scroll up or down through
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
channel guide, it is extremely annoying to click on an on-demand or other advertisement after every 5th channel. We pay enough for their services not to have to scroll through ads on the channel guide.
Quality - The biggest difference with TV is picture and voice quality. With
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
, the sound goes out for a few seconds at least twice per hour. Often the voice is not in sync with the person opening their mouth. This always happens if you fast forward the DVR. The screen often has pixels, especially with on-demand. They must frequently have service outages because DVR recordings are often stopped in the middle, and then started again 5 minutes later or more causing you to miss some of the program. And frequently, you try to watch something on either live TV or the DVR and get an error message. I am constantly having to re-boot their box and/or call tech. support if that doesn't work. To say this is very frustrating is a major understatement.
Internet
While it's a toss up, my previous provider wins here for speed and also for their Yahoo option e-mail. I liked the fact that they had disposable e-mail addresses so you could easily use one for awhile and if you started to get a lot of spam, you could change it. I never gave out my actual address but used various disposable ones. Also, you could change the colors, etc. of both your webmail and browser home page with them. You can't with
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
. The only plus with
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
is that voicemail is listed on line - you can listen or get a text print-out of it. (However, the text print out misses a lot of information and often doesn't make any sense). Also, there is a listing of missed calls, received calls, etc. from you home phone, which I really like, especially since
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
on my phone has been out for weeks at a time. However, scrolling through preferences is extremely slow with
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
, taking 1 to 4 minutes for pages to load. My previous provider was instantaneous (I had the same 15/5 plan with each). In addition, apparently
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
's DVR Manager is not available in Cherry Hill yet.
I am not a big internet user, but lately have noticed that every time (2-3 times per week) I want to use my laptop, the Wi-Fi signal is out. My network does not appear, and so I have to reboot the modem, which takes a good 5 minutes and cuts the phone service out while it's rebooting. In addition, several times when I've tried to get e-mail in the evening, rather than morning, I can't. Nothing downloads, and this is from the main Ethernet connected computer. The next morning I notice that I did indeed have e-mail. So, my guess is if you are the type of person who uses the internet frequently, you will have reasons to dislike
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
internet service as well.
As an update, after months of calling about my problematic phone service, a technician came out and told me that my original SMS modem often stops working after awhile. He replaced it and both the phone and Wifi connection have improved, so far.
Price
Because I had a salesperson, I was offered a much better rate than is advertised on line; my contract has a higher price for this 2nd year, but it was specified in the contract, so I thought I was protected. However, they claim they can raise rates even though you have a contracted price. So it looks like even though you might be quoted a lower price initially, since they can change your rate at any point, it's not really such a great deal after all. As previously mentioned,
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
charged an activation fee that was supposed to be free. It took them several months to get this resolved. The good thing about billing disputes with my previous provider, they credited you on the day you called and re-calculated the taxes and told you what to pay. I waited months for
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
to credit me the $29.95 activation fee specified in my contract as "no charge." From what I have read on-line,
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
can take months to issue a credit they owe you, which is totally unacceptable.
My previous provider gives you the modem for free and charges for the DVR;
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
charges a $7.00 per month rental fee for the modem. If I were going to remain with them, I would purchase my own modem, especially given the constant re-booting that I have to do with their modem in order to maintain services.
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
gave me the DVR for free the 1 year, and is charging me $8.00 (rather than the $7.00 specified in my contract) for this 2nd year.
Summary
I have had
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
service for 1 year now. Unfortunately, even though I'm maybe saving money during this 2 year contract, if I knew what I know now, I would have stayed with my previous provider with their fiber-optic technology and trouble-free service/product. I am not happy with
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
customer service or their products, especially TV, DVR, and very problematic phone service. I plan to return to my previous provider when my contract is up, and I will never switch back to
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
again. Their service/product is not worth the aggravation and numerous phone calls to customer service/technical support. Even one of their technicians who came to my house told me that my region (Cherry Hill and southern NJ from
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
to Maple Shade) has very old equipment desperately in need of upgrade, and they have firm ware and other problems requiring numerous service calls to customers.
I would say that the only thing "awesome" about Xfinity is their salesperson. If it was not for him, I would have cancelled within the first 30 days of service. If you don't mind your telephone service constantly going out; missing important phone calls; sometimes not being able to be heard on the phone; slow internet; intermittent Wi-Fi signals; error messages when you try to watch your DVR or live TV; on-demand with video pixels; voice not in sync with video on the TV; sound on your TV going out at least twice per hour; as well as having to make several calls per month to
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
customer service/technical support, then choose Xfinity. If you want trouble-free service/product, the choice is clear: choose
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
/Xfinity's competition.

"We have been
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
customers for 5 years. They have consistently not provided the service for which we pay. We were at 6MB for the first 3 years. We were constantly having outages, daily drops, and dips in service. They send a service technician out every 6 months or so, indicate the cause is new equipment, or needing new equipment, and give us a new modem.
2 years ago they said we would get better service if we upgraded to 12MB. Same issues. The service drops daily. Fine one minute and out the next. The modems constantly reset. They have to come out and replace the modems every 6 months. I request a price break for the poor service and they say no.
The latest issue - on
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
3 2014 the service was really bad. So I called. They reset the modem and the service was fine for about 5 minutes. Then we were back to getting download speeds of .4MB I called again. They reset the modem again. We got 12MB for about 5 minutes then we were down to about 1.8MB.
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
4 same thing. They said they would have someone come out on Monday. We got another new modem. Same problems. Now they are saying they didn't plan properly and the equipment can't keep up with demand. They don't have an ETA to resolve the issue. We call every day with the same issue. They keep saying they are looking into the issue, but they can't tell us when it will be resolved or when we will get the service we are paying for.

"I attempted to pay my bill with
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
well before the due date and recieved a confirmation for the payment I made. When I looked at my bill for the following month, it showed the bill had been paid, but my total included two months charges. I called to check and was informed that the payment did not process (No Reason Given) and that I had a late charge. I told the person on the line, and he confirmed, that the payment had been made in time. He said I could make the payment over the phone and they would reverse the late payment charge - he then transferred me to another customer service rep. I went through the whole scenario with her and she said she didn't understand why I was told the charge could be reversed. She was not interested in helping me at all. So I asked to speak to a supervisor. After getting a heafty
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
of attitude from her, she transferred me to the voice mail of a supervisor. I left a lengthy voice mail and do not expect a phone call back. I then tried the online chat, and after a lengthy process of telling "
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
" the situation, I was then told, "since this has been escalated to our supervisor, this will need to be reviewed respectively, and will be subject for their approval, since we chat analyst have limited access when it comes to this matter."
Two sentences later she said I could call back if I didn't hear from the supervisor and they could take care of it.
Wait... WHAT? Why can't we just take care of it now?!
For the amount of money I pay for this service and because I have never had a late payment before, I expect to get some decent customer service.
In the end, "
Jacksonville Long Distance Phone Companies Provider Name Locked
" told me to wait 72 hours for a call back from the supervisor. And that's where it stands.
