"Full disclosure: I met Dr. because we played for the same roller derby team so I know her personally. However, I feel fully qualified to" say that she is an excellent doctor who truly cares about her patients and the level of care she delivers. She is an stellar communicator, which is a trait I value highly in my medical providers. I could tell she felt terrible delivering the news that my hand was broken (I'd been walking around for four days thinking it was a injury). But I felt confident that she knew what was best for me. We tried to let the break heal in a splint for two weeks and I was able to continue playing roller derby. However, a follow-up visit showed that the bone (fifth metacarpal) was healing slightly off and pointing my finger in a wonky position. Again, I could tell she was empathetic in telling me I needed to consult with a specialist about surgery. She handed me over to an excellent doctor, Peck of the Indiana Hand to Shoulder Center, and stayed involved with my post-surgery recovery plan. She gave me a clear program to safely return to playing my sport. I have the utmost faith that Dr. knows how to balance an athlete's safety and health with their desire to return to play. I don't think I could possibly recommend a doctor more highly. She balances intelligence and knowledge with great communication skills, and a genuine empathy for her patients. The facilities at St. Sports Performance in Clay Terrace seem top-of-line. The billing was straightforward and the front desk staff and x- techs were extremely courteous. Overall, it was the best experience I could have imagined considering I was in the not-so-desirable situation of having a broken hand.

"Surgery went well as well as recovery. I was walking neighborhood w/walker in 2 weeks, riding my bicycle in neighborhood in 4 weeks. 5 weeks of PT was a must." I am now 5 months out and can overdo like shopping for 9 hrs straight but just need to ice and rest for a couple of days. Never have any problem with walking or riding my bike. Dr Monesmith did a great job. I also still do my stretching exercises and ice.

  • He listened carefully to my story, had x-rays taken of my shoulder, read them immediately and provided an in-depth discussion to explain to me the likely problem and the options from exercise/stretching, through more tests, and to potential surgery.  He guided me to the exercise/stretching option and then handed me off to a trainer.  I rigorously applied their recommended regime and quickly improved and now 4 months later am almost pain free.
He also discussed the issues with my psoas and demonstrated stretching and isometrics to help there as well.
I am very pleased with the two consults and exercise training I received from Provider name locked. and his staff.
