  • There was a problem when one of the caregivers stole quite a bit of jewelry from my mother to the tune of $5700.00. The company owner would not take any responsibility even though the lady that was at my mother's house was the only person that came into that house before it was stolen.

Eventually they said that they would pay half of the deductible the insurance company required us to pay, if we agreed to sign a contract saying that we couldn't tell anyone about their services in a negative way or they would sue us for slander. We decided to not accept their offer to take the money in exchange for a gag order so that we could speak out about what happened.

  • They are very pushy and really do not seem concerned about the person who needs to be moved or her feelings. They seem to want you to make a decision quickly. I think the facilities pay a Place for Mom to get clients. The facilities call every week.

  • Poorly. We are still struggling with one competent caretaker and multiple less than capable people. Understanding that one person cannot work 24/7 but in this case the changes in personnel should be minimal and consistent. And everyone needs to be informed and accountable.

  • Not too well. There were serious issues with scheduling, quality of caregivers(a few were great) and little professionalism from the home office. I felt like my loved ones needs were not important to them. If they had just met me halfway I would have been satisfied.

  • Did not go too well. Unprofessional workers. Administration was caring and nice, it was the calibre of the people sent to care for my mom. Most of them could not follow simple instructions and it was frustrating. I sometimes worried about leaving my mother with them.

  • First of all, this is for the Caregivers, Inc.(1&2) located at 3536 N. Washington Blvd., Indianapolis, IN (317) 252-5958

This has been a nightmare.  We started with them the end of October 2015 when mom got out of the extended care facility.  She isn't that difficult of a client. She is just a fall risk, needs reminders to take her meds (which are already organized by me), needs help getting to the bathroom (incontinence issues due to poor ambulation), and for someone to make meals for her.  She does have bouts of hepatic encephalopathy which cause her to have Alzheimer's like confusion, forgetfulness, irritability, poor judgement, and muscle weakness, but those are fewer and farther between when she takes all her meds.

The Intake & Reassesment nurse was nice. But we've seen her a total of 3 times, the last one being in December of January.

The PT woman was rather brusque, and not very personable.  Thankfully she only came a few times.

The first woman they sent out as an Aide did cook for her, but forgot her meds on a few occasions, and basically just sat in the living room on her phone or watching TV. I called the office and told them to replace her and why.

They sent out a few more temporary ladies for a few days until they could find someone permanent. The fill-ins were wonderful. They cooked, cleaned, remembered all med reminders, even sat in her room with her and chatted and even cut coupons together.  Unfortunately, their schedules didn't allow them to come on permanently. (Kim, Ashley, and Karen are the good ones)

The permanent set of women they found after that started out ok, but have since slipped to the point I am actively seeking another company.
    Reasons:
    1) The a.m. one has mixed up my moms morning and bedtime meds on several occasions, they both miss dose reminders and/or forget the separate big pill and liquid.
    2) They don't cook - just sandwiches, cereal, soup, and re-heated leftovers
    3) They only half-*** any cleaning they do for her (Laundry gets washed but not dried, or dried but not put away; dishes still have food residue all over them; trash bag gets taken out of can, but left next to it with no new bag put in)
    4) They forget to tell me or the office about schedule switch-ups. (couple of times the a.m. left and the p.m. didn't come in at all, leaving my mother alone for 3 hours till I got home)
    5) They are now doing like the first woman by sitting in the living room on their phones or watching tv all day, and only interact for meals and meds.
    6) At least one of them is eating our food.
    7) After being asked repeatedly not to mess with the ceiling fan or the heat/AC thermostat setting, they still do, even after I taped over it.
    8) One of them (they both deny it), has twice put a set of curtains I had set out to give my Aunt over the cat liter box. (even though I had just recently cleaned it)
    9) One of them uses my hairbrush. (I have red hair, they have dark)
    10) They used to wash the dishes they used to eat with, but have since stopped.
    11) My sister has caught the a.m. one sleeping a couple of times when she came over to visit on her lunch break (the chain lock was used on the door, even though we have and use a dead bolt, which wasn't used)
    12) And the piece-De-resistance - I just found out that they have both been leaving my mom home alone for up to 45 minutes at a time, without telling her or me that they are leaving, so they can go run personal errands, grocery shopping, grab lunch, or take a walk to get their FitBit steps in!!!  And I caught the a.m. one lying to me about it!! Its usually when she dozes off for a bit, so she has woken up several times now, after just a short while, all alone and need assistance with something.

I have called the office and complained several times now about things as I have found out about them, and all I usually get is an "I'm so sorry," and the promise that they will be reprimanded.  I have asked for replacement staff several times now too, but have been told that they don't have anyone else who can cover her extended hours shifts.

I'm so done with this place.  I'm trying to find a decent company to replace them, but she is on Medicaid, and the choices are slim.  The few I have found with decent ratings from the Medicare & Medicaid government websites that are covered by her particular type of Medicaid either don't have the ability to pick her up as a client due to being understaffed, or they don't provide the Aide services, just Nursing.  All I have to say is, maybe they would be ok for someone who only needs a couple hours of services, but if you or your loved one need more than 3 hours in a shift, then for the preservation of Health & Safety, look elsewhere!!!

  • She was thoughtful, efficient and caring from the first phone call, intro interview and daily visits, every person that came was pleasant and helpful and showed special interest. It was always easy to call to ask questions, & adjust the schedule. Supervisors regularly check in to assess. But very competitive.

  • I had a girl come out but I didn't get her name from Angie's List. I thought I was going to be gone but I am going to call again. I was very pleased with their service. I haven't had her since I thought I was going to go to my daughter's but I didn't go  so I am ready to call her again. I've had them before. The woman they sent out, we get along fine and she is very helpful. I am going to call them any day now. I think they are good so you can give them a positive review from me.

  • They were good. I used different people but they were one of the better ones. Their availability was fine. Most of them were very easy to get a hold of because they were eager to sell their services so there was not a problem of getting a hold of them at all. They sent somebody to the house to interview me so I didn't go there. Their punctuality was fine. They used different people at different times. It's not one person who comes, but for the most part they were fine. I had an incident with one of the people and it wasn't her fault. It was because she was not informed properly what to expect when she got here. The staff was really friendly and they were really willing to help. Their bedside manner was very good. There was miscommunication between the administrators and the people. They didn't inform the worker properly. I had somebody come out who was going to stay all night and when she realized how much help my husband needed then she realized she wasn't physically able to do what we needed. We needed somebody large. In this case, the woman just didn't have the strength to help as much as she needed to. It's not so much that they do treatment, it's just that they were like companions. They should get along with the person and they were supposed to be caretaking. It was like babysitting for grown ups. I think they don't get their facts together all the time. They were interviewed at my husband's so they knew what he needed and somebody dropped the ball, and that happens.

  • Jay came to my mothers home and assessed her.  She was very informative and detailed about the services.  Dee was very informative and detailed about services as well.  She explained things clear when I had contacted there agency over the phone.  The pricing is priced well and they will work with you.  Caregiver was very knowledgable, friendly, and caring.  My mother loved the cared very much and the office staff as well.  Billing was always on time and correct.  They all went the extra mile for me and my family.  I appreciated all the tings that this agency ad did for my me and my family. They follow the care plan that is put in place, and they actually care about you and the client's well being.
