Flooring reviews in Indianapolis

Real People ~ Real Reviews ~ Real Results

  • Pricing - we obtained two estimates, and Home Experts was the less expensive. We were impressed with other good Angies List Reviews. Work: Job went very well. It took about three weeks, just as we were told in the beginning. Ken coordinated the job and was responsive and professional. Several subcontractors came to work on the house, all were punctual and professional. We are very happy with the quality of the work and would use this business again.

  • Oscar Moran was sent by John from Construction Services of Indianapolis to do my kitchen remodel. Although I had to wait a month or so to start the process, I would have waited a year. He is the most talented and professional craftsman I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with! Oscar along with Steven, his helper, find no job too daunting and are concerned with only doing the best job possible for you. Oscar can do everything himself, so there are no stray people in and out of your house. There are no interruptions in the progress of the remodel, (as long as you have the materials ready to use) since you are not working around other people’s schedules. His attention to detail is wonderful and his craftsmanship is the best. He is trustworthy, hard working, and professional and I would never hire anyone else for a remodel. Oscar and Steven are well worth waiting for!

  • old floor removal was more difficult than expected leaving gouges now telegraphing through the vinyl flooring since no underlayment was used. New quarter round installation was not the best. OK for a quick project where timing was mandated by other activities

  • I hired Mike Davidson to do a full remodel of my house October 1st 2017. I asked that he bid everything he needs to do in order to get the house completely ready to go. Kitchen, refinish floors, basement, fix drywall, windows and bathroom. Everything sounded great. He knew what to say to get the job. He gave me a bid for $20,000 dollars and completion in 4 weeks. First week, I was there to supervise the work and everything went great. As soon as I left, everything went into contractor nightmare. He would call me and say things like "hey you should really change all of these outlets. Ill do it for $1200 more". I agreed to some of these things until I realized it would never end. He pressured me to keep paying him because "there wasn't any profit in the job for him" and he said he needed to be paid weekly to keep going on the project. He would send me pictures of half completed projects and say it was just about finished and he needed another check. In reality, he was less than 50% finished on anything. He added a new lock and locked my mother out of the house when I sent her to check on his work. I asked him to remove the lock and he told me no. He would randomly break out in yelling and try to intimidate anyone who accused him of not doing his job. He left his personal mattress leaning against my garage until I got calls from the neighbor complaining. He backed into my other neighbors car and the guy said he never did anything about it. I had to send people there at night because they were afraid to see him and be verbally attacked. He was using my house as a workshop for several other projects like refinishing doors that were not mine. There were times when he would make zero progress for weeks and he would constantly blame other people. After 6 months and almost no progress, I changed the locks and locked him out in April after he told me that he had spent all of the $20,000 I had paid him and he was now working for free. According to his bid, he completed less than $8,000 worth of work. He later said that he would finish the job but I needed to pay him more and he needed 6 more weeks. He polyurethaned my doors and they are all peeling. He laid the tile I purchased for the bathroom and its not level even though he installed the subfloor. There are clearly sharp edges of the small tiles sticking up that a blind person would notice. I am now out $20,000+ and my house is still not even close AND he cracked my 100 year old stained glass window. DONT HIRE and if you do, dont pay him until you are absolutely sure the project is 100% completed and correct. Mike was missing in action for months at a time and always promised to show results soon. "Next week", "by thanksgiving", "by christmas", "3-4 more weeks", "by easter". Mike took all $20,000 of my money as fast as he could and used my empty house to work on other small jobs he had. He always made things sound like they were almost finished and would act threatening towards anyone I sent to inspect. He did decide to pick out his own paint color for my fence which matches nothing around my house. He did apply what looks like drylock to my basement walls, unfortunately he didn't wipe them down first, so it's already peeling and yellow. He did also break or steal my antique front door lock. He says it broke into a million pieces when he took it off. Which I doubt because he saved everything I asked for, except for the antique fixtures which I reminded him about several times. Mike cannot handle big jobs. Do not hire this guy. He will majority take advantage of you in every way.

  • Excellent overall experience, timely, worked very fast and the job done in less time than others who have done larger rooms in my home. Friendly, courteous and professional, adhered to the price quote...doesn't get better than Rob Robinson.

  • Went to R and R showroom and spoke to Maggie. I knew that I wanted Coretec Plus in either Norwegian Maple or Rocky Mountain Oak. In speaking with Maggie, she advised there was a new Cortec product - Cortec Plus Pro. She allowed me to take samples of each product home for a week to facilitate a decision. As the Plus Pro has a higher PSI rating than the older Plus product, I went with this. When I returned the samples, we scheduled Jeff to come out on 5/24/18 to measure for an estimate. Jeff arrived on time and took measurements of the areas involved. He said that due to Memorial Day Holiday, he wouldn't be able to get me the estimate until 5/29/18. When I hadn't received anything by Friday, 6/1/18, I called to check the status. Maggie said she'd leave him a message; that he was out due to daughter's graduation. I received no contact in the following week and called 6/7/18, leaving a message for Jeff for the status and to contact me by phone, email, regular mail, whatever. I received no contact and emailed Maggie on 6/13/18 as to status. I have had no contact since. It is apparent that this company does not want my business. I understand that they might be busy with larger jobs but we hadn't even gotten to the ordering of the product and the scheduling of the installation. It was stalled on the estimate and at the very least, someone could have picked up the phone or dropped an email. It should not take 3 weeks to provide an estimate for a 900 square foot house. If this lack of responsiveness is indicative of the way the business is run, I will take my business elsewhere. (In fact I did so - contact made with another company 6/13/18, measurement appointment set for 6/14/18, estimate provided on the spot, down payment made to order product - easy peasy.}

  • Louis was timely in scheduling a visit to view the project and arrived promptly. He is personable and left a positive impression that he could handle the work. He promised a detailed estimate; but no estimate ever came. I checked my spam folder just in case and then reached out to him several weeks later, but to date (~8 weeks later) have received no answer. Sadly then, this review mirrors the other negative reviews where a "no bid" would have been the proper way to respond to the customer rather than "crickets".

  • Late Review This rating is for the Avon store but was initially placed under main McCool's. After researching flooring options and providers, I choose McCool's in Avon. Brad was very knowledgeable and worked with me as I tried to narrow down carpet vs LVT. This was going to involve the entire house and would, depending on material selected, involve carpeted areas ripped out and replaced with new carpet (leaving sheet vinyl on kitchen/bathrooms) or carpeted areas ripped out and LVT laid over all surfaces. House is 900 square feet. I finally decided on the LVT. Due to my work schedule, we finally got the measuring scheduled for end of June 2017. Tony came out to measure and was going to give info to Brad. Brad would then email or call me with price and we'd set a date for installation. Unfortunately, this never occurred. I called after a couple of weeks and left message. I called a couple of weeks after that and spoke to Brad who said he had to get with Tony as he couldn't read his handwriting. I called a couple of weeks after that and left a message. A couple of weeks went by and I spoke to Brad. He'd misplaced my note and hadn't gotten with Tony yet. I said I wasn't in a hurry but wanted to get it done before the snow flew and to have enough time to schedule time off. He assured me that he'did get with Tony that week and contact me with cost. My last call was at the end of October and I left another message. I have had no call or email. At this point, I am quite disappointed in McCools of Avon and have taken my business elsewhere. • My wife damaged our laminate hardwood with a steam mop. Chris came out and gave me an estimate on repairing. He explained that it is more of a complex job than we originally thought. They were able to knock it out in a half day or so and charged less than originally quoted. He did a great job and will use again in the future for flooring needs.

  • Matthew worked diligently and skillfully; he was personable and communicated well; and the price that he charged to complete the job was substantially less than either of two other bids that I obtained for it. I was very pleased with the experience and the results that he produced.
