I had my retirement funds in various Provider name locked. ,s and 401K 's with really no practical rationale except that they did good over time. I just turned 60 and knew that I had to get it in focus to make sure my wife and I had enough to hopefully live on in our retirement years. I wasn't sure my portfolio was worth the time of a financial planner, but I saw that Mr. Provider name locked. advertised that he would work with anyone and he would charge by the hour or as a percentage of your portfolio. I called him, made an appointment and we talked for an hour. I found out that he wasn't into just getting my money somewhere, he was genuinely concerned about our COMPLETE financial situation so he could give us the best advice he could. I originally just meant to have him look over my various funds and advise where to put them (which he did very well) but he also spent some time going over rational planning for retirement and making sure that we had a decent emergency fund and how to get things paid off to make sure we owed very little when I would retire.
He helped me realize that 80% in stocks was not a good idea at my age and he also explained the advantage of Provider name locked. index funds that were low cost and follow the Provider name locked. instead of flashy funds that do good for a while and then die (and I had two of them over 20 years and had already watched them go high and then drop.) This is the same philosophy that I've read about and that Provider name locked. Buffet advocates.
He put me and my wife on an even Provider name locked. , showed us what we could expect in the future and what we need to do to make sure we would have some kind of retirement. It won't be great, but we should have enough to live close to what we have now.
And he indicated that he really likes to start with people that are young and are just starting out so he can help them with family financial planning right from the start, even with very small amounts of money.
But, the tradeoff is that he is completely independent and charges for his services up front. He is not free because he doesn't get any kickbacks or percentages form your investments. But, from what I can tell so far, he was a straight shooter that gave me both the bad news and good news up front. And when I am ready to fully retire in a few more years I will be calling him back for further advice to finalize my retirement options.

We have worked with this service for over a year now and have received timely responses to any and all questions we may have/had. We would highly recommend them.

It has not gone at all like I was under the impression it would go. We (employees) could sign up for 3 different weekly payments to receive: $200, 300, 500, in the event you were off work longer than a 2 wk period. (not vacation). I signed up for the $300 a week insurance payment, and the bi-weekly premium of $9.36. I took the safe, middle of the road route, just in case I ever needed to use it. Well, guess what! I needed to use it, and now they have stalled from 12/11/13 to now and I still have not received one weekly insurance payment! I thought I would be covered if I ever needed it by buying this insurance. Now I can see that is not true. I have gone the whole winter with nothing from this insurance company. I would never recommend them or use them again. When I am able to get back to work I will drop this coverage like a hot potato! And recommend that anyone else paying for this option drop it too!
