Heart Surgery reviews in Indianapolis

  • While I pray I never "need" to see him again, I would gladly buy the man a steak or sit down for coffee. In terms of Corvasc he was their "face" to me and I still remember his gentle but confident words. I once asked when I would start feeling normal .. he stopped while explaining recovery to explain I had never felt "normal" but I would begin to recover .. now I know what normal feels like.

  • It went very well.   I had to have a double bypass. St Vincent's gave me excellent service.  Everything was explained pertaining to my surgery and  what would be going on after my surgery.   The care by the nurses was excellent.   The food was very good.

  • When I arrived, the front desk staff were fairly helpful and prompt. They were quick to get my paperwork filed and get me back to my and quot;roomand quot;. I think the whole process took maybe 10 minutes at most. I appreciated the fact that although the office environment was well decorated and neat, it wasn't a beaming castle as some hospitals portray (waste of money, in my opinion).
Once in my room, I was well handled by the nursing staff who were really good at communicating what was going to happen and asked me a myriad of questions to ensure proper care. Although completely unnecessary, I was experiencing a lot of anxiety about the test and the nursing staff picked up on that right away. They were very compassionate and caring and did their best to soothe my emotions.

Once I was in the op room, the doctor met me and explained what would be happening. He was an alright person, but I felt as though he was trying to sell his services to me. He began telling me what I could be suffering from and offered his card.
When I woke up from surgery, the nurses were in no hurry to rush me out the door, but in my state of anxiety and dislike of hospitals, I was trying to get out as soon as possible. The nurses did not fight me, just helped me get dressed, use the bathroom, and made sure I made it to my vehicle safe.

I later received a card in the mail wishing me well, which made me feel good. Ultimately, the test that was done showed nothing and the whole experience was for naught, but at least the nursing staff made it as pleasant as possible. I have visited other hospitals and have been treated with far less compassion and humanity, so this was truly a breath of fresh air.

I finally received my bill and the cost of this test was incredibly outrageous. $10,000 for them to slip a metal tube down my throat. I don't know who to blame for this ridiculous price; the hospital or the American health care system. My insurance covered 80% but I am still stuck with $2000 for a test that was completely useless. I went through their financial aid questionnaire in an attempt to reduce the price, but it hardly lowered it. In fact, they told me I had 2 months to pay $1500. Such a disappointment. I was really hoping this hospital would hold better standards but alas, it falls into the same financial trap as any other American hospital, ultimately causing me to lowered my overall grade.

  • Dr. Kevin Sheridan of CORVASC consulted with Mom and me regarding the procedure. Dr. Sheridan was very thorough in describing the procedure and answering my questions about it. I never felt rushed and he was very affable, polite and friendly with my Mother at the time of the consultation.

The procedure was scheduled about 2 weeks after the consultation. By this time, my Mother's condition had deteriorated and she was much weaker. Unfortunately, during the procedure, my Mother's heart went into an arrythmia and she passed away, quietly while under sedation.

Dr. Sheridan, was extremely compassionate in delivering this news to me. He and the anesthesiologist, both, took their time and held my hand to comfort me until they made sure the hospital chaplain was able to arrive. Although the outcome is sad, Dr. Sheridan assured me that they followed my and my mother's wishes that heroic measures not be used to preserve her life.

Not all outcomes are what we may want, but the way a physician deals with the family following such an outcome is extremely important. Dr. Sheridan is to be commended for the caring, compassionate manner he used to comfort me.

  • Since I have a history of heart disease, after experiencing an ongoing dizziness and light headedness, I made an appointment with my doctor, asap. I was surprised to learn that a pacemaker, defiberlator was necessary, IMMEDIATELY. After a deep breath, I agreed, and was happy to learn the Heart Hospital had a room available. The proceedure was scheduled for the very next morning. I was impressed that necessary tests could be performed the day of my admission. I had plenty of opportunity for question and answers prior to my surgery and felt every individual who approached me was knowledgable and experienced in Heart Health and Care which gave me an added sense of confidence in the surgery. After a night of recovery, I was schooled in what to expect from my device and given plenty of time to review materials with the staff. Within a few days I was on the go again! Still working perfectly and no side effects. Only increased energy and stamina to enjoy a normal routine and travels. I continue to prefer the Heart Hospital for my care and visit the attached medical center annually for my appointments.

  • I just met him for the first time a week ago and he has a fabulous bedside manner. He sat and talked with my husband and I about the entire process of my surgery. He answered any and all questions and he was very much hands on.

  • It?s been two months since yesterday since the surgery and I am doing fine. They don?t have to check my pacemaker until September. I just love him so much and I?m so glad he came to Indiana. I will continue to see him anytime I can. If anything goes wrong he said he?d be there for me.
  • He made the surgery as painless as possible. I had the surgery done about two years ago. There was only a small incision made. I was only in the hospital for five days. They use state of the art equipment. They are very knowledgeable. I would recommend everyone to get a heart to scan to avoid surgery.

  • I was scheduled for an open heart procedure and was on the the operating table and everything ready to go. They changed their minds and decided that it was not in my best interest. I feel like that says about his care for my well being. It would have been a lot easier for them to just have gone a head done the procedure and get paid. I would highly recommend them and I'm doing well to this day.

  • We've had a remarkable experience there. They have total honesty about everything, including her condition. They told us what we should expect and watch for. They informed us of all the risks and reasons why they were performing the procedure. He called us at home on the weekend about why he was confident and sure she would survive the procedure.
